Nice catch and I am happy to see these still in use. I think that Porterbrook should have used the Cummins QSK19 power packs on the driving units that would give these Class 769's 1500hp combined in total. I hope to see a OO Gauge model in the future of these Class 319/769 units.
Basically they are ex Thameslink 319s retrofitted with diesel engines under the driving trailer coaches feeding the 750v train line to supplement the pantograph and 3rd rail pickup shoes.
These would be BMUs or TMUs, I’m not sure which variant Northern operates. DEMUs would be Voyagers. Best way to tell power type is from the first digit of the TOPS number.
@@kieranstrainjourneys Sorry, me again ..... next time there's a similar situation please get on the power car ** (pantograph on roof) leaving the camera running. That way we will be treated to the loud power electronics / traction motor noise as the train departs 3:17 ** I think the power car I refer to is officially known as a MSO = Motor Second Open

Ur cool 😎😎
*replaces the third rail pickup on the Northern and ex-TfW units. Only the ex-GWR 769/9s have the modifications for tri operation.

Very nice video. Would have been perfect if you'd waited a little longer for the train to depart.
You’re totally correct! Unfortunately the train ended up being my train
@@kieranstrainjourneys I didn't think of that !! You're excused 😁😁
