While practicing at home... I try to read and spell the word in my head before pressing any key, this makes me try to combine as many quick bursts of strokes as I can read. With just this technique and with an adequate amount of practice with correct form I can go over 100 wpm these days for long sessions. Been at it for 2+ years. Just shared a practicing tip hope it helps you.

I would advise all to not waste their times on touch typing course. You won't be able go achieve speed of 40 unless you learn on a real typewriter.
