I met David’s at a Fairfield Inn in Jackson Tn and he was kind enough to show me his rig and chat with me for about an hour. Awesome dude and he mentioned he had just been with you on this outing. He said he had camped at one of the most incredible places ever with you.
It was a pleasure to meet you on my way back home.. that hotel room was much needed after all those days on the road lol!

That's awesome that you found some chicken of the woods. We like to saute it in butter at a low temp with salt pepper and garlic and its amazing.
I had never had it before.. it was a bit dry, so cooking in butter would likely be the fix.. had a good texture and taste.. pretty cool.

So many trails to run. A big variety of easy to hard.
My family and another family made it down there just a little over a year ago for the first time. I can’t wait to go back. We found 60ft Falls by accident and luck(nature was calling) then continued on. It was the hardest trail we had done at that time and we made it in a light rain in two mild built SR5 4Runners. Definitely one of my favorite places we have found!
It’s good seeing the jeep on 33s doing just fine… bigger tyres are only a hinderance in most cases.
The nittos when new are almost 34 but the width at 10.5 certainly keeps mileage a lot happier.. I’m happy so far with what I can do. I would like to have a sway bar disconnect and lockers at some point but I’m going to do my best to keep at smaller tires.
Each adventure just gets better and better. Good friends having good times. Icing on the cake was Oark Cafe. And of course you had to have the pie. Will most definitely check out David’s channel. 👍 👍

I’ve only got to explore a little bit of the Ozarks. But fell in love with it the first time I went there. Explored on sxs and stayed at Mulberry mountain. Really want to go back more.
I agree with everything you say about why we overland and would also add the opportunity to pit your skills, your machine and your equipment against all that nature can throw at us. Great video. The Ozarks are on my list for sure.

@@gustavorangel4066 we stayed at Mulberry Mountain lodging and events and it was a short ride from there on the side-by-side. I think it was on one of the waterfall trails

I would love to join you guys, I was there in my supercab F150 last weekend and did forest service road 1813 all the way down to the impassable mud bogs. It might have been doable with some company but zero chance solo. I can see why you guys love the Ozarks , it is incredible and I can't wait to come back!
Check out your local Harps if have one close by and they sell bison meat too.
We wheel the trails SW Colo and I think some of these trails in the forest are just as technical

This is why we are moving to AR. Can't wait for the adventures in the Ozarks. Do you think a 6x8 off road trailer would make it through there? It is a jumping jack trailer with lift and 33s.

Yeah it would be a no-go in a Sprinter.
I went with ASFIR too but just did the engine/trans. Need to get the word out, they are high quality skids.

Fire content as always. How was the water levels this weekend? I seen some people sank thier rigs haha. I ended up at Sylamore creek area to camp in the Ozarks an explore up that way.

What do you guys find is the best way to handle cooking? Each rig/person make their own food, or do more of a collective thing for everyone together?
Hitting the Kentucky adventure tour next week with 5 trucks for a few different states and it feels like planning collective meals would be difficult.
Another great video, such an amazing backyard you have to explore. With all the water crossings you do, what have you done with the diff and transfer case breathers? For some reason the transmission breather comes out on top of the engine, but the other 3 are alot lower. Could you recommend something in particular or should I just buy some tubing, run it up into the engine bay and re-use the factory breather caps?
Just buy some tubing to extend them. It’s pretty easy.

Interesting RTT modification. I looked at the Ursa Minor but the wait time and price are ridiculous. I ended up getting an iKamper Mini. But you never know, might sell it and go with a more permanent solution at some point.

My wife and I are going to be going through Missouri, Arkansas, Oklahoma and Nebraska in mid June. If anyone has suggestions for some easy to moderate, and even difficult, but not-too-difficult routes, that would be awesome. FYI, we're driving a 1998 4runner with 2-3" lift, 34" AT tires, lockers (front & rear) and winch, so it's pretty capable, but we'll be traveling solo so we're not looking for _too_ much adventure. Let me know if you have any great routes, please! :)

You could run parts of the Ozark Overland Adventure Trail through Arkansas.
@@OzarkOverlandAdventures yes, I did finally notice the link to the gpx file in your 'day 1' video of the series where you take that trail. It's awesome! Thank you! ? So that's what we'll do. We'll have 3 days, I think, and we'll be coming in from the East end, so we'll bail out after the 3rd day before we start making the loop back to the east so that we can continue west back to CA. Are there any really difficult/hard parts in the trails of the first 3 days that we should know about? And what's the water level of the water crossings in mid to late June, typically? Funny you should ask that. I have a full video on the Asfir skid plates coming out tonight and then this Friday we show them getting used and abused at the local off road park on my wife's Wrangler. So far they are awesome!!

Hey Matt, how many miles do you have on the gladiator now? Any problems that needed to be repaired under warranty?
25,000 after a year. no issues so far other than a headlight going out.

Is the Willys stock on 32’s? It sure sounded like a diesel, so I suppose it was?
It’s on 33s.
Yes it’s the eco-diesel and I have a little over 50k miles on it. Avg about 25mpg.. love it! The nitto ridgegrablers are technically 33’s but are closer to 34 measured.
@@aMAYSingLife how can a 33” tire ever measure larger than its diameter? Most all tires measure less than the size listed on the sidewall, never larger than. Help me understand.
@@mikesters3532 well because it’s not technically a 33” it’s technically a 285 75r17 and on the nitto spec sheet it measures in inches 33.86” outside diameter. I think some of it comes down to how manufacturers measure to put a tire in a specific category basically for marketing purposes but likely to keep performance specs where they want them they cheat one way or the other.
Incidentally a lot of tires inflated size measure under what their stated size so there can be an entire inch difference due to rounding of numbers by manufacturers. KO2’s are noticeably smaller than mine when I compared them to a friend of mines. Marketing is a funny thing lol

How did you deal with the trash pandas and keep them away for the rest of the night? Also where I live/ camp they are notorious for being able to open coolers/fridges, have you ever had an issue with wildlife being attracted to your fridge with it being in an open top truck bed? And if so how do you deter it.
That was my first time to have an issue with one. After I scared him away at 2am he never came back. I won’t leave my tailgate open at night again. Lol.
Easy, you put all your trash in your buddies truck and then close your door and go to bed :-)… lol, j/k Matt..
