      You're not an EU member state, only connected via the EEA. There are many countries outside the EU perfectly fine. I live in the North of England, no problems at petrol stations, no empty shelves. I see a lot in media but never in reality.

    • @eyvindrrauskeggr3190
      @eyvindrrauskeggr3190 2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      @@billybatts8283 That's correct, we're connected through the EEA, but that's besides the point. What I'm referring to is that the BBC is trying to paint a picture of shortages being a world wide occurrence. Though it's correct that there is disruptions in supply chains across the world, there's no other countries in a situation comparable to what's going on in the UK. With that in mind, I find it peculiar that the BBC would leave brexit out of the equation. What ever opinion one might have on brexit, it's a major event, bringing about major changes. Wouldn't it be natural for a serious news broadcaster to take all possible events into consideration when presenting a news story like this? I spent a decade in the UK ( northern England also, North Yorkshire. Lovely place ) and what I hear from friends over there is as you say, a different situation depending on your location, so I've got no problem believing that things could be somewhat blown out of proportions. During my time there I got to know British media as biased and sensationalistic, but I always had a reasonable amount of trust in the BBC. So seeing this kind of report from the BBC where they appear to be brushing breixt as a factor under the rug, really surprises me.

In the south you have cowardly panic buying idiots and a lot of press, but it's not reality. The media are painting a false narritive. And again, I come from a piss poor working class background in the North East of England, there is no problem. The only issue with Brexit is that its been purposefully sabotaged since day 1, leave was never supposed to win. It was never going to be allowed to work. And yes, North Yorkshire is a beautiful place my friend.

    As other Europeans below comment from places like Germany and Portugal, also here in Norway there's absolutely no changes, no shortages, no nothing and we've never been part of the EU at all. I'm thinking this is an example that can be a comparison with a supertanker/aircraft carrier. The captain have with the help of the navigator plotted the course, made sure to steer in whatever direction they want to, in the speed they desire, so it's a matter of the ship to start moving accordingly, but that takes time. And putting the whole issue with the pandemic into the calculations, while trying to make a non-EU reality to come true, is probably like having filled gasoline on a diesel engine, and so having even more delays, with having to change the engine and trying to get moving at the same time.

    You can see on TH-cam that many drivers say the job is no good any more and they are getting jobs in different sectors. They complain of having to work extreme hours, disrespect from the company they work for, disrespect from the places they deliver to, low wages and more. They say that foreign workers won't come any more because of these reasons and they get better pay in their own countries and they pay a lot less tax and they don't need visas.
    Drivers are feeling like second class citizens and the heavy expense they have to pay to get their license is wasted. Then on top there have suddenly been new requirements to licensing and they feel scammed.
    You can see many drivers on here saying this. The companies they work for are treating them badly and it got much worse when foreign truck drivers were happy to come and work for the low wages but now they are gone and the British drivers feel cheated by all the above points of complaints.

      Brexshit is not the sole cause but it IS making the problems worse. Especially the ending of Free Movement and treating EU citizens like criminals at immigration. Fingerprinted, locked up, documents and passports confiscated for no reason. The UK is hostile to non-Brits. Brexshit has brought out the full Nazi. When will Brextremists acknowlege that Brexshit was a stupid mistake?

    But the guy is right though. Back-in-the-day businesses carry huge inventories in their back rooms. No more of that crap. The back room is the showroom.

    This is a good talk. People underestimate just-in-time inventory and what it really means. It honestly means that thing is rolling off the assembly line and going right to the shelf and getting purchase almost instantly or they're not making it. People also underestimate cost accounting function. The cost accounting functionality makes it where all the finances and the money for the cash flows that happened throughout these transactions and throughout the transportation piece all of that money is also just in time LOL.

      You misconceive something. JIT is about delivery from outsourced manufacturers of spare parts TO the assembly line, NOT FROM the assembly line to the salesroom or the shelf. JIT is an invention of the automobile industry where cars were and are still individually put together for the buyer.
      This concept doesn't hold for most of the products, except for pre-ordered goods, as cars are.
      So what are you trying to say?

    Germany and Netherlands have little to no supply issues. The computer chip shortage is global but except for that we have everything in excess. Also the rising prices here are way, way lower than in Brexit Britain. We simply don't have those problems here, no food shortages, no fuel shortages, toys stores have sales because they have too much stock. Thanks to Brexit the EU has a lot more drivers now, a lot of new jobs for Bankers, Transport companies and what not.
