Really great vid. Totally shows the two different places where the mid-hump hits. Two diff voicing is very cool. Totally disagree that there is too much compression. I always wish people would do less generic demos like this with a rig and going for a sound someone may actually use. It's totally valuable to know how it stacks a bit also.. Thanks!
Isn’t that just the whole entire vintage circuit? In other words, the white knob one is the S&S spec. The man himself (S&S) answers specific questions on tgp… only he and Ken know all of the specifics on the tweaks. Otherwise, all of the Klone builders of the world would simply copy it, like they are trying to do with the Wildwood Mjolnir. For what it’s worth, I’ve got 2 vintage ones and 2 standard ones… and prefer the standards with OA diodes. I’m sure S&S will answer all of your questions on the forum.
Ty Caskey yea I wanna try a pedal that will replace amp sims, you know like Iridium, Victory V4 pedals, Kingsley stuff, would be interesting to hear more of that kinda stuff
@@w1third Oh I see what you're saying. The Iridium is fantastic. If you're on a budget, the JOYO AC is surprisingly really good. A huge part of the sound is the impulse response. I'd look for a pedal like the mooer radar, bluguitar cab, two notes torpedo or some other IR pedal. You can run a light overdrive like the RC Booster, JHS Morning Glory, etc as your "amp" and get a really great sound for going direct.
What’s the difference between the vintage spec and non vintage spec? Online there’s an option for the diodes but it doesn’t explain if that pertains to online the vintage or both. Thanks! Great demo!
The diodes are different. They’re fairly close at low gain. I prefer the vintage spec for low gain. The MO has a more pleasing high gain though. They’re website breaks the specs of it down if you’re curious on all the circuit stuff.
You can get a toggle on either the vintage spec or the standard. The toggle gives you a choice of diodes. This video does a great job comparing a vintage spec without toggle (only one kind of diode) to a standard with toggle. So these are different beasts. But you could order a vintage spec with toggle too. That’s what I did. There seem to be quite a few folks who feel like the vintage is a true klone while the standard is a ‘mo better’ version of the original. Depends on the listener.
Hey! Yes they are from my understanding. Both pedals have the 1n34 germanium diodes and the MO also has the OA128 Silicon diodes via the toggle switch.
Too much compression. I feel that this demo doesn't do the test justice. It's hard to get a clear picture of how the pedals respond to pick attack, different nuances while running all those pedals together. Sounds awfully compressed.
Hey there! I guess my thought was showing the pedals how I’d actually use them, but I can totally see your point. Hopefully it gives you a little bit of an idea for how they sound. Thanks for the feedback!
Ken of Rimrock Effects here and I'm late to the show by a few years, but thank you for a great comparison demo.

Thank you! Glad it was helpful.
Just bought my second.the vintage spec.
Great sounds Ty!
Thank you!
Thanks, Ty .. great pedal
For sure!
I like the green one 😉
Can’t go wrong, by far one of the best Klones. Mine has this X factor dreamy quality.
Agreed!
Anybody know what the Snow and Steel spec is on these?

Have you tried any preamp pedals that you could bypass amp model
DividedByTime Hmm just with the digital stuff like the hx stomp.

So is the green pedal (right) a combo of both via the toggle?
Voiced a little different

Isn't OA128 silicone?
