So true. It’s informative and highly relaxing for me. Also amazed at what can be done at home. I’ve started a few plants from seed yesterday because of his videos.
So generous sharing your knowledge, Charles. I spent several weeks clearing weeds off my new veg patch then found your no dig videos. I'm hooked and have adopted same technique, thank you so much, Liz J
I have to admit, Mr. Dowding’s voice is soft and unhurried with so much wonderful knowledge, that I too find my blood pressure drops back to almost normal. I say almost normal because I am excited to get into my garden and do/try what Charles does as well. He makes me feel I can be just as successful as he is.
Hello Mr Dowding, it's the blue cocktail girl here. Maybe after all these years you don't need reassurance that your videos are life changing but in case they still make you smile here's one more. I have a slope of heavy clay under my olives in Le Marche, Italy. I had almost given up on it ever producing enough to feed 4 kids but then following your videos I set up 4 twenty metre raised beds of cardboard/straw/compost etc and built a huge compost box. A year later I have not had to buy ANY vegetables all winter and I am giving surplus away to the neighbours. All 4 are in full growth for spring or in production and the compost is nearly ready. I work on the land for other people all day so I have very little time for myself which is what makes it so perfect as it is very little work compared to the old way. THANKYOU. You have restored land and dreams all in one. Jo.
Jo this is wonderful and thanks so much for sharing. I am happy also that your kids are getting to taste lovely vegetables 🥕 No dig is catching on now, for time saving if nothing else.

I decided to go 'no dig' last year, what can I say, its no dig for life now, the difference was amazing, less weeds, less work, more veg. Love your videos, thank you for sharing your knowledge, and keep the Vid's coming!
Planting multisown vegetables, such as beet or leeks, is one of the many things i have learnt from you. So much more food from whatever size plot you have. May not end up with whopper leeks but when you can get twice as much, who cares! Also, not strictly sticking to the myth of rotation each year. This is a relief to me and many people who may panic about what can grow after each harvest. Your videos are truly brilliant. Appreciate the hard work you put in. Thanks!
I've started growing my own garden beds this year following your methods. I've got all your books as reference. The information you give is just invaluable. I must say I live in an area where not many people are growing vegetables. Those who do, use the older methods of digging the soil, leave everything spaced out and use as much synthetic fertilizer as possible. I still have trouble finding out what to plant when, which crop could follow another, but I'll get there. There's always next year. Too bad the old-school gardeners around me consider me "the weirdo". I'll be toasting to you, Mr Dowding, when my first harvests will be a fact. Thank you so much!

As I only need a few of each plant I raise them on my kitchen window-sill. I've spent a fortune on gardening books always hoping each would be the one that would make all clear... but each author contradicted the one before. I love listening to Alan Titchmarsh and he talks sense. However, in my kitchen garden I just muddle through. Hello from Melbourne. Thank you Charles D. i am learning so much from you and i have watch pretty much every videos of yours. its an addictions. From The youtube LOVER MON.
Great Video! I like the yearly compilation to see the whole rotation! Reminds me of one of my first gardens, small raised beds on a concrete carport. Small gardens are sometimes underrated. You can do a lot and often more efficient than going too big too fast. Nice work!
I can imagine the logistics of filming over a year are a lot of work, but it's really paid off. This is a fantastic way to get a better feel for the kindof succession plantings that are possible!
I have loved this video. The key message seems to be to keep sowing seed in modules, so that there’s always something to pop into the ground as it comes free. Your methods have transformed our vegetable growing, so thank you.
I can't begin to tell you how much I appreciate this video as I begin to plan my garden this year. And since my growing season is almost the same as yours, I need make very little adjustments to the timing of my successions! I have always had great luck with my fennel, but I do let about half burst tall into flower for all the lovely insect friends what grace my garden. The local bees love them, and I am ok with it going to seed and self sowing a little fennel surprise for me each year. I am getting ready to place my order to Baker Creek and am definitely going to have to try those radishes this year!!! They look delicious! Thank you so much for the garden inspiration!
Ironically I try and stop bees getting to my fennel, basil and dill, as the aniseed flavour really stands out in the honey I collect from my hives. My bees love them too much!
Charles the legend of gardening. Watching all your videos during the quarantine. Greetings from Italy, and many thanks for all the information you're sharing with us.
Charles, so happy you answered my question about fennel… I was poised to ask it....and before I knew it ....you had covered it. 😉 Never understood why you needed to plant it somewhere other than the rest of your vegetables!😅 thanks again for another well-thought-out presentation for those of us who are still learning what our gardens are actually capable of! Keep up the great work and I hope your gardening year is off to a great start already!
Thank you so much for taking us through a year in this small garden. I find myself shaking my head in admiration of you and how you are ready to plant and replant and fill in the gaps. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and your beautiful patch of Earth.
You have to be only living for your plants to have amazing plants like this, this guy don't have a full time job, so don't be discouraged if you have a job like most of us your garden won't turn out so great. If I didn't have to work a 46 hr a week job my garden would be amazing too.
Thank you Charles 😊. Great video of rotational cropping. I let my chard go to seed. It turned into a tall trifod like stalk. I left it to overwinter as it still provided picking leaves. The flowering stems then turned into plantlets. Miniature, perfect plants with no roots that can be harvested to eat. Spring came and these plantlets growing strong. I will try some planted in ground but this certainly has been a great provider 🤗. Pays to be a lazy gardener 👍.
Multi sow beetroot really does fo great. I have gold and red beetroot. Brilliant taste. Never new how efficient a small garden can be. Thank you, Master of veggies.
I work 3weeks on a ship, then have three weeks at home, and that's my rotation. Back in early may I started a covid slash victory garden, and have been adding to it, and having mini harvests, every time I go home. While everytime I go to work I'm able to find wonderful presenters on TH-cam, to aid and further my gardening education . So glad I found your wonderful channel, thank you so much for all of the lessons and knowledge, you've been offering. This is my first year gardening, already I've done so well, and next year will be so much the better for having found your channel. Cheers
I loved this video. Thanks Charles! It goes to show that with a bit of planning, good soil and sun you can get a lot of veggies in a small space. There is no justification. Just start!
Thank you for such a great video! I have always read that fennel doesn't do well with neighbors. I am encouraged to grow them with others. Such great information. I appreciate all of your hard work filming over the year.
For the past 3 weeks, every morning when I get up and eat breakfast, I watch one of your video's whilest eating. Such a nice relaxing channel. You honestly made my morning routine more fun :)
My thanks. Another gift. But learning requires 'doing', and so I shall return to the potting shed, hopefully to gain a better understanding. Wonderful you.
You give such great information it makes my heart soar. I am having my hubs build me 4 beds that will be 18"-20" tall x 3' x14-16' to allow me to garden with disabilities and you have helped me see just how much I can harvest from them using your methods. I am going to use a modified hugelkulture for the base topped with compost. Thank you! I am almost looking forward to my hip replacement so I can get started.
I'm getting 28" high beds setup this spring to help with my disabilities and planning on using huggleculture (sp?) too! It is nice to hear I'm not alone in trying to adjust and still do things I enjoy. I may struggle to find enough logs and branches to fill that deep of a bed though 😅
Great, great video! Timeless really. I have completely changed my methods of gardening since discovering you Charles. Much gratitude from, still very chilly, Wisconsin. Can't wait to get my hands in the dirt!!!
Excellent demonstration of successional sowing and harvesting. I’m learning much from your channel Charles. Yet again, a top quality production as well. Thank you Charles for sharing your know how. Regards shane
I am switching from cut and come again method to pick and come again. I really like your idea of picking the oldest leaves first. When you cut off from the top you get all the old yucky leaves with your cut.

Thanks Trisha and… yes!
Thanks 🙏 love your small proyect!
Main thing is you can eat well and I'm sure you can grow decent harvests
Very pleasant. Feel good and Happy after watching your videos
Thanks Niranjan 😄
Thank you Charles 😊. Great video of rotational cropping.
I let my chard go to seed. It turned into a tall trifod like stalk. I left it to overwinter as it still provided picking leaves. The flowering stems then turned into plantlets. Miniature, perfect plants with no roots that can be harvested to eat.
Spring came and these plantlets growing strong. I will try some planted in ground but this certainly has been a great provider 🤗.
Pays to be a lazy gardener 👍.
Nice story Chris, yes they are amazing plants
Fabolous and so motivating film. I've seen all, I think, on this channel, many times. It's great, very inspiring. I can't wait to see next one :)
Yes very encouraged to make the most of small spaces ! Beautiful baskets of fresh vegetables !
My new motto - "spot a gap, pop in a plant and have FUN!" 😁😁😁
thank you so much mr Charles 'no-digity' Dowding for this super successive planting video. So much food in 5, ohh not 5, but just 1 bed!!!!!!!!!!!
Multi sow beetroot really does fo great. I have gold and red beetroot. Brilliant taste. Never new how efficient a small garden can be. Thank you, Master of veggies.
Cheers Gert
I work 3weeks on a ship, then have three weeks at home, and that's my rotation. Back in early may I started a covid slash victory garden, and have been adding to it, and having mini harvests, every time I go home. While everytime I go to work I'm able to find wonderful presenters on TH-cam, to aid and further my gardening education . So glad I found your wonderful channel, thank you so much for all of the lessons and knowledge, you've been offering. This is my first year gardening, already I've done so well, and next year will be so much the better for having found your channel. Cheers
Fingers crossed during three weeks away!
Welll done, nice to hear.
Sooo much to learn, ssooooo little time.
Such a marvellous video educating us on just how much you can grow in one small garden. Brilliant!
Thanks 💚
I loved this video. Thanks Charles! It goes to show that with a bit of planning, good soil and sun you can get a lot of veggies in a small space. There is no justification. Just start!
Thank you for such a great video! I have always read that fennel doesn't do well with neighbors. I am encouraged to grow them with others. Such great information. I appreciate all of your hard work filming over the year.
Glad it was helpful!
That's excellent! I have 2 beds about that size I'm just starting to work with. This has given me a great run through what I can do. Thanks a bunch!😁
For the past 3 weeks, every morning when I get up and eat breakfast, I watch one of your video's whilest eating. Such a nice relaxing channel. You honestly made my morning routine more fun :)
thankyou 🍎
Nicely Done, Charles! Lovely Gardens!
I could eat all spring and summer on what you planted in one bed. So cool. You have given me so many wonderful ideas.
Most interesting. Very informative. Love your videos.
Cheers Eric
You continue to make market gardening look easy. Love it.
I just love your videos so much information thank you
I appreciate the time and devotion it took to make this one video. From March to October! That’s incredible. Thank you 🙏
Glad you enjoyed it!
This was an amazing video Mr Dowding! Thank you for your trials and teachings, much appreciated!😉❤️
Thank you for this video. I shared it with my blog readers. It's an inspiring thing to realize how much food a little space can grow. :-)
Thanks for sharing and yes indeed
My thanks. Another gift. But learning requires 'doing', and so I shall return to the potting shed, hopefully to gain a better understanding. Wonderful you.
Charles - great video, really like the format of time jumping :)
Amazing how much food you can grow in a small space!
Absolutely LOVE your videos. You remove the doubt and instill inspiration to just 'DO IT", Thank you!
You are so welcome!
Super to hear and good luck with the op Gail
I'm getting 28" high beds setup this spring to help with my disabilities and planning on using huggleculture (sp?) too! It is nice to hear I'm not alone in trying to adjust and still do things I enjoy. I may struggle to find enough logs and branches to fill that deep of a bed though 😅
Very relaxing to watch you and also love your plants because its organic nice to have vlog like this
Thanks Josie
That is amazing how much you can get out of one small bed thanks. I am learning so much.
So inspirational👍. I'm a first year into gardening appreciate all the information and knowledge you are passing on, thank you.
Great to hear and good luck
Have a wonderful weekend, I hope your planting goes well! Jesus Loves you~
Great, great video! Timeless really. I have completely changed my methods of gardening since discovering you Charles. Much gratitude from, still very chilly, Wisconsin. Can't wait to get my hands in the dirt!!!
Thanks Jayne, great to hear, roll on spring!
Well that's how to organise your growing bed to the Most Wow that's Amazing.
Just watched you on another platform and realised why I am always drawn back to you... You always give us all permission to fail and go on!!!!
Haha thanks June and I am sure you succeed! (but yes failing is ok :))
How sad am I sowing teddy bear sunflowers in March and thinking about failing. Thanks for your work.
Ah June, whaat, in March?
I sow mine mid April at earliest under cover, as late as early June :)
Charles Dowding got you just in time. Good night.
Very nice. You give me good ideas and hope for my garden. Thank you, Charles.
Excellent demonstration of successional sowing and harvesting. I’m learning much from your channel Charles. Yet again, a top quality production as well. Thank you Charles for sharing your know how. Regards shane
Great to hear!
Okay you just told me the size!! Thank you!!
I like that you show successes and things that weren’t so successful too. Thanks for sharing! I have a small garden so I found this inspiring ☺️
Nice to hear 🥕
Really nice! Thanks for the inspiration!
I am switching from cut and come again method to pick and come again. I really like your idea of picking the oldest leaves first. When you cut off from the top you get all the old yucky leaves with your cut.
You are so welcome!
Wonderful video! Great detail, thank you.
So inspiring.... from May to October wooooow that's a lot of time , teaching work & patience ..... big thank you for you
You are so welcome Ilhem
