Rick, your right! I just bought one last week and i dont even look at my other air gun to guns with. Mine also loves the CPHP. Please keep the reviews coming.
I get almost all my gear from PyramydAir. They have all kinds of fill kits for PCP guns. You can email me directly for more info or just visit their site. You can email them or chat on-line with someone that can help. Cheers! Rick
@threelittleniglets yep.. there is a ridged o-ring in the breach that tends to deform the skirt on JSB pellets. The Crosman Premiers gave the best groups. Rick
@tommy2timez I have not done that test yet.. but I will for sure.. I know that people hunt with this out to 50+ yards. I want to see if I can get it shooting well at 730ish fps which I'm sure won't be a problem. However.. I'm also testing the Talon SS which is more suited for the longer range stuff.. so we've got a lot of good videos on the way. Cheers! Rick I'll as for the HW97K... I want to review the new "stainless" version..
I've been waiting for someone to review this great gun. Im in the fence between this and its big brother. Now its just tine to save some $. Thanks Rick. Please don't stop these reviews.
The flexibility of being able to use this as either a pistol or a carbine, makes this a great gun. Hunting with a pistol is really not practical. Hunting with this is a carbine is very practical. And if you want to bend shoot, why not have the ability to use a bipod as well. The fact that you can do this all with the same gun makes it even more impressive. Cheers Rick
Depends on the purpose.. I really like my Discovery and my Marauder... don't know that I could choose. If I had to choose, it would most likely be the Marauder Pistol. Rick
After shooting this airgun for about 2 years I have some advise to new owners. Don't mess with your settings. The 2 hex screws at the back of the pistol are pre set at the factory for a good balance between power and efficiency. I set mine to get an extra mag of good shots but lost quite a bit of velocity especially with heavy pellets, which the gun seems to like most. I then set it to get more power but lost about 2 and a half mags worth of good shots. I then reset it to factory defaults and am getting good velocity with 4 mags worth of consistent shots. A small adjustment either way seems to hurt more than it helps.
Contact Crosman. they may just send you the replacement gauge. PA has an inline foster gauge that you can get if the first option does not work. Cheers rick
I have crosman premier dome, CPHP, JSB 14.3, Falcon, Polymag and Beeman Kodiak copper coated. My scope is UTG 3-9x32 compact cqb bug buster. So far the best grouping I got from the crosman premier dome. The gun is getting better.
Take a look of my video on the 3000 psi vs 4500 psi tanks (1 got 13 to 1 more fills on the 4500 psi tank). The tanks and guns (usually) have gauges. You always go by the gauge and never overfill. Also, the tanks on the guns are way over-engineered. If the are rated at 3000 psi, they will probably take 6000 psi or more before bursting, not that I'd want to test that. If you are uncomfortable with a 4500 psi tank, then by all means stick with the 3000 to 3000 type system. Cheers Rick
@ThePhantomtickler Aren't most of those big pcp gun manufacture's pistols 2, 3, and 4 times the money? Which models are you speaking of specifically? The price point / performance of this little gun is great in my opinion. But I've not done much with the really high end stuff. I think it will be interesting to put a really high end pcp against the Marauder rifle from a performance perspective. I wonder if they give you $1800 worth of better accuracy and power. cheers Rick
I agree with you about the skeleton stock. I also dislike it because it gives it away immediately as a crosman product. So at the moment I am working towards making an aluminium tube that will screw in the back of the air pistol. So that would replace the skeleton stock. I am also thinking of replacing the other plastic. I would also like to mount a bipod to it and it is possible to do so on that plastic part but instead I am going to replace it with wood and put a 11mm rail in there!
I did not do any tuning to the rifle at all. What pellets are you using? What scope are you using? Sometimes the pellets that work well in one rifle will not work well in another rifle. Let me know the pellets and the scope that you are using. Cheers, AGW
@02stampede I really like it.. and it is a cast metal gun.. yes it is a bit pricy for that class of gun, but when you start looking around, there's nothing that comes close to it for price, performance, and features.. so maybe the price is not too bad after all. I love my mrod pistol. Rick
I like the use of music when you go to a graphic, I did find it distracting in other videos mostly because my hearing isn't the best. Nice gun but because of our laws I can't get one. I do have a Crosman PCP Silhouette that is very similar, slower, single shot, not shrouded, but very accurate. Will you be doing a video set up as a pistol. I'm mostly interested in the optic set up you'd use.
Rick i have the P Rod and think it's one of the most accurate guns out there.At 30 yards i get dime size groups. I use the JSB match diabolo 18.1 pellets and they are very good pellets for the P Rod.As always great video. Mike
Hey Joe, work with it. Everything will come together. I shoot with Crosman hollow points, Polymags and Kodiak copper coated. Kodiaks will drop faster, so a Lil holdover is needed.
@SuperSmallgamer All of Gamo's guns are basically the same.. same barrel, same mechanics, etc. The only difference (for most models) is the stock and optics. So if you've seen one, you've seen most. With that said, I can ask gamo to send me one and see what happens. Cheers Rick
Hi Rick..I may have missed it..but did you mention how it does for longer ranges to maybe 50 to about 100 yards?..thanks again..(still waiting on the HW97K review)..maybe you can get the synthetic thumbhole version? that would be great!!!..in .22 pleeeeease!!!
@2468texaspete It has the range and accuracy.. but the weight, being so light, will make those long shots tough. You will be better off with a heavier gun like the discovery or the Marauder. Cheers Rick
You said that because you had set a friends gun up that you knew what type of ammo yours would prefer. I had the understanding that even guns made by the same manufacturer don't always shoot the same kind of pellets well. Is that right?
I just got my Marauder .22 rifle last week. So far, I love it. Half inch groups at 40 yards and .90" groups at 60 yards. I am really considering getting the pistol version, very soon, with a red dot style sight for closer range game. I have read a lot of "love it or hate it" reviews on the forums. Do you think the quality control is good on this air gun overall? I love the fact that it shoots CHPP's very well. So far, my marauder rifle doesn't like anything but JSB exacts. Thanks.
It all depends.. I've shot, tested, and setup several of the Marauder Pistols and they have all liked the same pellet so far.. the Crosman Premier in the cardboard box. I've tested several other pellets, but the CP's have always been best. Cheers Rick
Hey Rick, Just purchased a Talon Pistol and have a Benjamin hand pump. However: The Pump gauge took a crap. Pump still works, so my Marauder has a gauge built into it not a problem there. To do my Talon pistol could I get a piece to connect to the pump such as one of the din connectors with the gauge built onto it? Or should I send the pump for the warranty work?
you should make a video of you shooting flies at 10 yards just for fun and how is that a .042 inch group at 10 yards if it is center to center all the pellets hit the same place so wouldnt it be a .01 ctc group?
Hey Rick, I just got my marauder pistol yesterday. And did some test on it. I can only got 1 inch grouping from 10 yard. I am very disappointed. Did you do any break in for the barrel or any kind of tuning? I did my test right out of the box. I am expecting the same result as you got.
Can you please do a review of the Benjamin 392?I would really appreciate it.That other guy paul cappello that does airgun reviews sucks. You do great reviews every time, and i appreciate you putting time into all these reviews for the benefit of your viewers. Best regards from panama.
I finally got the tube stock that screws into the rear end of the pistol. Now I have no need for the ugly crosman plastic stock that in my view is the weakest part of this pistol. I also got a small silencer for shooting quarry from close range in urban areas so it wont make too much noise. So in all I spent about $150 and I plan to spend another $150 for more accessories for it but most importantly I want to get rid of the remaining plastic on it including the safety so it should be fun!
@mofoq I'll be posting this on my website just look for aigunweb in google or go to my channel page for the link. Anyway, I'll have all the items listed there. Cheers! Rick
I was wondering if the end cap on the Marauder pistol fits on the rifle and on the 25 rifle as well? I own the pistol but none of the rifles. However: I'm working on a shroud for the pistol and rifles and just need to know if they have the same threads and diameter.
Would this be a good gun for like dove and squirell or should i go with the benjamin discovery????I need it to be able to take a squirell or dove at around 50 yards.
@AirGunWeb Hello Rick, I have to say that I have bought over 7 airguns based on you're reviews, Favorite being the Phantom. I have a Tech Force 58 Contender and that is a gun that really stands out to me, above all others. I would absolutely love to see a review on the 58, as well as you're take on such a beautifully crafted airgun like that. Thanks
Hey Rick , greetings from England 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇺🇸🇺🇸 Great Review, full of very useful information. It shore shoots well . Very handy for hunting rats etc . Thank you for your work . Cheers 🍻 Simon
im ordering a leapers 3-12x44 swat scope do you think it will hold up to my benjamin super streak .22 if it doesnt would it be difficult to get it fixed/replaced by pyramyd air?
If I order this pistol do I need to have a scuba tank handy ? you mentioned the hand pump is that with the pistol or do I have to get one, as you probably guessed I am a first time buyer...
Im saving up to buy one of these..i have a few pump guns that shoot great n a co2 qb78...so this will be my first pcp..i am also interested in finding a wood stock..do you or any one else out there know where i could find a website to look at n see what my opinions are.thank you
Unfortunately I don't have this gun anymore. It does ok at range.. I've shot sub 1" at 40 with it. It's a little underpowered (out of the box) for much more than that. Cheers AGW
Hi. I like your video. I would like to buy the Benjamin Marauder Air pistol. I want to use for small field targets and pest control to 30yds. If I filled up the reservoir, (3000psi) can you tell me how many useful shoots (approx) will get it to the next pump it up? Thanks for your answer.
very important! how long can you wait to pull the trigger ? example:on a hunting trip things are quiet,but,a wild animal might come up on you at any time,so you have to leave the gun ready to shoot...THANK YOU! for all your great videos!
The only thing that you should have to do with a PCP rifle is to remove the trigger safety to off. Then you take your shot. You should always have your rifle on safe when you are hunting. Cheers, AGW
Ok Guys.. no background music on this one.. Let me know if you like it better or if you prefer the background music! Thanks!
Rick
Rick, your right! I just bought one last week and i dont even look at my other air gun to guns with. Mine also loves the CPHP. Please keep the reviews coming.
I measure with a micrometer and do the math.. It's a great gun.. no need to make it more than it is when it honestly does so well.
Cheers
Rick
@JrSquirreler
no. at least not with a factory discovery (it is single shot).. this magazine only works with the Marauder Pistol.
Rick
I get almost all my gear from PyramydAir. They have all kinds of fill kits for PCP guns. You can email me directly for more info or just visit their site. You can email them or chat on-line with someone that can help.

yep.. there is a ridged o-ring in the breach that tends to deform the skirt on JSB pellets. The Crosman Premiers gave the best groups.

Nope.. it is an HPA (high pressure air) fitting. You need 3000 psi.. your standard shop compressor tops out at 150 psi.

@traog
I will be looking at it in pistol format. It is a little awkward, but still nice to shoot.
Rick
I used high rings when I mounted the scope. You need the additional clearance for the magazine.

@Snarkler1968

you can use the pump but it would be a long process. I would expect the condor in .25 to be sufficient for raccoon and small coyote.

from empty? not sure.. to top it off from just under 2000 psi to close to 3000 psi takes about 60 +/-
Rick
gotta save up my money after buying the Marauder rifle so that I can go out and get this sweet looking Marauder pistol too! Great review.
What is the pistol that is behind you, the one with the beautiful wood stock?
@VOS38
Yep.. It is a beautiful gun for sure..
Rick
I doubt you saw any moisture.. not here in Arizona. The tanks are all filled from a scuba shop with certified dry, breathable air. ~Cheers, Rick

@phillip42184
I have a Venom on order.. it is the hardwood version.

forgot to say. In €urope Crossman 1377 pump action pistol is 94 € or 126 $ .

Hey Rick. what do you think about the AIRFORCE TALON P?
I was wondering if the end cap on the Marauder pistol fits on the rifle and on the 25 rifle as well? I own the pistol but none of the rifles. However: I'm working on a shroud for the pistol and rifles and just need to know if they have the same threads and diameter.
When you say crosman premier, do u mean the hollowpoin, domed, ultra magnum, etc?
@AirGunWeb the side wheel on my leapers accushot 3-12x44 seems a little loose is that normal if not do you know any way to tighten it?
Would this be a good gun for like dove and squirell or should i go with the benjamin discovery????I need it to be able to take a squirell or dove at around 50 yards.
The Airforce talon P comes in .25 cal and is very powerful. But single shot. I'm choosing it for hunting over this
@AirGunWeb ok thanks i will probably go with the marauder rifle
@AirGunWeb Hello Rick,
I have to say that I have bought over 7 airguns based on you're reviews, Favorite being the Phantom.

will they ever have this in a combo package with the pump
@AirGunWeb ok thanks it should be here by friday
Hey Rick , greetings from England 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇺🇸🇺🇸
Great Review, full of very useful information.
I've not seen any.. would be an interesting animal for sure.
Cheers
Rick
what is your favorite sub 500 FPS and under $300 airgun, Rick?
If I order this pistol do I need to have a scuba tank handy ? you mentioned the hand pump is that with the pistol or do I have to get one, as you probably guessed I am a first time buyer...
Bro....just buy hand pump...save coast bro...easy to handle..
Rick please do a follow up review. You did say it wouldn't be your last. Thanks Rick.
No music! .. great review as usual..
Can it be filled with a compressor like my marauder rifle?
Im saving up to buy one of these..i have a few pump guns that shoot great n a co2 qb78...so this will be my first pcp..i am also interested in finding a wood stock..do you or any one else out there know where i could find a website to look at n see what my opinions are.thank you
@Tebanlol
I would love to.. I'll see if I can get one.
Rick
@alrodrodriguez
It should hold up no problem.
Rick
Is this good for hunting??
Hi rick , like to see you do a hunting video one of these days any plans on doing one soon maybe ?
I'm working on scheduling some out now. I'm look for sponsors to cover some of the costs.
Cheers
AGW
Thanks for the review, but where's the follow up? I would like to see what this airgun will do at 30-40 yards.
Unfortunately I don't have this gun anymore. It does ok at range.. I've shot sub 1" at 40 with it. It's a little underpowered (out of the box) for much more than that.
Cheers
AGW
30 to 40 is good. Thanks!
There is a guy that has video using this on ground squirrels at 50 60 Yards if you google it
Have regulator for this pistol, or?
What kind of Lbs of pressure is it please?
@2468texaspete
Yes.
Rick
Any word on a Marauder Pistol in .25?
very important! how long can you wait to pull the trigger ? example:on a hunting trip things are quiet,but,a wild animal might come up on you at any time,so you have to leave the gun ready to shoot...THANK YOU! for all your great videos!
The only thing that you should have to do with a PCP rifle is to remove the trigger safety to off. Then you take your shot. You should always have your rifle on safe when you are hunting.
Cheers,
AGW
@AirGunWeb ok thanks for the reply
If you can give me a good deal on a marauder pistol and pump please reply as i could buy asap. Buying them seperate adds up to be alot more
Looks like does good with those polymags, just like the trail np aw.......................
My choice would have been Evanix pistol.. But This has much more shots per fill...
the marauder pistol looks like it has the same grip as my 1377c but it looks a bit beefier can you tell me if there interchangeable
