- I admit that I'm one of those people who loves watching the rain... When I hear the sound of gentle rain, it's not just the sound that I enjoy, but also the fresh scent it brings along. And it reminds me of the famous sound from the Mutable Rings module... Among its various palettes, you can definitely extract that relaxing sound resembling tiny drops.
Last week, I was experimenting with the Oxi One controller because my attachment to it was reignited after receiving the new limited Black edition. I must confess that I had mainly used it with other gear rather than the eurorack, but I realized that the interaction it allows within the concept of generative music is exactly what I love the most. Being able to interact with my eurorack in a precise and satisfying manner when I feel I can contribute something amidst the web of generative notes.
There were moments when I visualized the notes as small raindrops. Each one has its own shape and sound when it touches the ground...
And it's just like in eurorack... individual modules that you add one by one and combine to create unique sonic landscapes that express something about you. Water droplets also come together to form countless types of rain, each with its own sound or silence.
When I forgot I was recording... I simply let myself go, pressing its touch-sensitive pads as if I were playing raindrops, but instead of feeling their water, I hear or generate their sound as they fall. Where would humanity be today if we didn't strive to maintain a connection between the natural and the technological? I think it brings us moments of creative excitement to immerse ourselves in new sounds, textures, and effects, and explore a world of musical possibilities with a different approach.
