What's the theory of your home arcade? Is it primarily for your own enjoyment, or is for your friends & family?
It's just me and the kids. Two nights a week we kick on all the machines and spend time challenge each other (mostly on Joust and Frogger). I spend some time sitting off to the side while they play. It's my zen.
@@evilgeniusentertainment It’s for my own enjoyment to take me back to a classic era. I mean arcades still exist but it’s great to see this stuff at home as well.
That's nice!
@@Super_Bros. hoping someone picks up some of the slack. when the ALU and iiRcade were in the market there seemed to be more innovation and activity.
My home arcade is primarily for my own enjoyment, but I love when I can have a few people over and the game room really comes to life. I love the history, the nostalgia, the art, the sounds and just about anything you can think of when it comes to arcades. I didn't even get to spend that much time in them back in the 70s and 80s, but they really made a lifelong impression on me!
Sounds pretty much like how I have it set up!
I bought my first home arcade machine back in 2019. I have 18 machines now and never thought at the time I would end up making a full on home arcade but I'm totally glad I did. And it gets a ton of use! My 5 year old absolutely loves playing in there and when friends and family see it for the first time they are blown away!! It was money absolutely well spent in my opinion.
There are FAR worse/more expensive hobbies! And unlike a lot of those, other people can actually enjoy/get to use the fruits of our madness!
Great positive energy and well said about the retro gaming community! It would definitely be cool meeting some fellow TH-camrs one day too! 🕹️
Hey thanks for the kind words and for checking out the video!
@@evilgeniusentertainment Sure thing and I do enjoy your videos when I caught them! Sorry about Tron I hope that gets resolved for you soon!
I have 400 finely tuned tables on my vpin..when my brother visited for 6 weeks in May/June we played Terminator 2 pinball Every day for about an hour...that time with him is priceless...thats what its all about
Great story RJ - and T2 is one of my favs as well!
Loved this video! For me, it's all about nostalgia, not necessarily the game play, although that is important. I like just spending time in my arcade space.
Thank you quarter deck! As soon as I walk into the shack I go, "Ahhhhhh." Immediately removes one layer of stress.
I set mine up so friends could come over and play, but I don't have that many friends that love arcade games. I get people over maybe once a year. So, ultimately, it really ends up being for me.
I'm guessing that when people do come over they're like, "Whoa, this is awesome!"
I watched your last episode (I watch all your episodes) and relayed how the two times I had problems with my 1up cabs, 1up was very quick to respond. That was several months ago and I wonder if their customer service has gone downhill? If so, that may cause me (like you) to have reservations in getting any more of their cabs. As far as the arcade culture, I am a little dismayed that there seems to be less youtubers like you making arcade content. I guess thats mainly due to very few new 1up cabs coming out. I started watching arcade youtube videoes after noticing 1up casb in our local Walmart. I remember exclaiming "what the heck!" I got to get these!" Shortly after that, I became an arcade youtube junkie! LOL. Maybe you and the other major arcade youtubers could organize a big event we can all attend to meet all you youtube celebrities. I certainly wouldnt mind paying a reasonable fee for the event.
In answer to your question, my arcade is mainly for me and friends who come over for parties. Our children are grown and long gone. Unfortunately, my wife has less than zero interest in any arcade games. 🙁
Thank you so much Madlou for the very kind words! Far as A1up goes, still no response as of this minute. And my wife's pretty much the same - the only way I can get her out into the shack is to play the vpin version of Stern's STAR TREK, but that's few and far between!
My little home arcade is for my own enjoyment. I’ve had less than a handful of people check it out, but it’s not much. I wish Arcade1Up had continued the Partycade line as I have Defender and Ms Pac-Man and like the fact they take up no floor space. Doesn’t take long for machines to fill a room.
Hey Mike, always good to hear from you! Totally agree about the partycades - I toyed with the idea of switching completely over to partycades to save space, but as I was mulling it over it became clear A1up was no longer going to support the format. Shame really.
Excellent video! The Home Arcade Community is great! 💥💥💥💥
Depends on the community, I have found some very elitist groups.
Thanks for checking it out Zod! And I agree - it is great!
@@evilgeniusentertainment
Where do I find this group?
I do own a Arcade1UP Multicade conversion and a modified and upgraded version of the Star Explorer pinball machine. So I am pretty happy with my home arcade, it definitely gives me that feel.
That's awesome
@@evilgeniusentertainment
You probably wouldn’t be shocked but I told the pinball community and I was summarily dogged bad. Apparently the arcade community doesn’t like home pinball machines and if you upgrade them they like them even less “why waste money on that… go buy a real pinball machine.” is what I was messaged a lot.
I left Pinball Enthusiasts and the Pinball People of discord because both groups are super elitist.
My Game room current setup consists of an Air Hockey table, an old computer based (semi-operable home arcade cabinet) with original X-Gaming controller, Arcade1Up Dragon's Lair, AtGames Legends Ultimate Mini, AtGames Legends HD Pinball, AtGames 4K Peanuts Pinball(my sons), in another room my AtGames 4K Addams Family Pinball, my original ColecoVision game system, and finally a couple of low and high-end PC systems.

And
ALL OF THIS!!

Thanks ted!
Great Vid Evil G! Yes it would be very cool to visit with you and share my Arcade!
Thanks Robert! Seriously, I'd much rather visit your guys arcades then the biggest "Real" ones

Is that a light up Batman or a light on a Batman?
It's a light up Batman (my wife got it for me for Xmas).
@@evilgeniusentertainment It is pretty bad ass. Would make a great present for my friend for Christmas.
Oh yeah, it's pretty sweet - I think she bought it at an estate sale or auction
