Using a standard figure 8 descender instead of a ring makes it easy to install from the ground, eliminates rope on rope friction, and works with every size climbing line. Simply run the retrieval side through the small eye with the stopper knot, and climb on the large eye side. I've used it hundreds of times with multiple redirects. Comes down every time.
Ha Ha I guess its been both for a long time . Im a second generation arborist and started on the ground with my dad in the 80s. Full time groundman in 1990 and then full time climber in 1996 , now I own a company and have to do a little bit of everything. I still try and climb the big hard stuff or should i say fun stuff or just do whatever I have to to get jobs done. But i really enjoy the compettitive side , this will be my 16th year doing the ISA tree climbing championship.
It's crazy how much everything has advanced.. and been made simpler.. nice history lesson👍👍👍
one of the few videos that simply and clearly explains climbing in lamens terms.
Thank you

Wouldn't the carabineer stop anything from happening? Or would it still come undone with that?
