You are the absolute best at showing all the techniques combined. Also such a real person. I've just started watching people paint furniture and having someone be real is so important. So good on you for being both talented and real. Love to you too Martyn.
Well I think being your true self helps people can relate, if your not I don't think you can keep it up.... Ha ha ha I am a messy crazy painter and content with that. Thanks for leaving me such a kind comment x
I just finished watching this tutorial. I commented on a picture of it yesterday, but watch the tutorial is a whole other world.. Believe me when I say I'm overwhelmed. I did my usual head nodding back and forth watching you build up the layers with all your painstaking details, and by the end I had tears in my eyes. Not an exaggeration. If you paid yourself £1,000,000 for your work alone, not counting the materials, it still wouldn't be enough. I hope the person who buys (already bought) this piece knows how lucky they are and what a bargain they got, no matter how high a price they paid.❤❤❤ Thanks so much Marty for your gorgeous close ups. Each one could have been framed and hung on a wall. I am just blown away.🎉
I have no words to this comment Elena you are so kind. I'm so glad you enjoyed this video. And I wish you good health in the year to come and plenty of laughs and good company.... Lel x
Absolutely brilliant! Patience, layers, and a multitude of mediums make an Alice on glass design another masterpiece. The K-drama gods felt the fans needed a break, so there are no episodes this week. No testing my loyalty 😅. Happy New Year!🎉🎉🎉
It's just absolutely gorgeous. It just makes me smile while looking at it. So lovely! And by the way, I'm so glad I'm not the only one that has paint all over my hands
Brilliant! Spectacular! Love it to pieces! I am particularly excited beause i have these papers and just purchased a piece that i think will make a great drink station (you see where I'm going 😀) Thank you, again, for all you do and share, you are a blessing❤
I am SUCH an Alice nerd! I utterly LOVE and feel so inspired by your creativity and sharing all the creative components that you put into a work of art like this. Your instructions are so helpful - I'm in the midst of creating my Alice clock, a mirror frame and a small cabinet for my grandson's books (he was born last year, in the Chinese year of the rabbit, sooo... the White Rabbit - who I feel very fond of, will certainly feature in that). Thanks again for all your combined hard work - Martyn's skills as videographer and editor are also superb! Looking forward to binge-watching more of your videos!!
Oh that's such a beautiful thing to make for your grandson.... Its sounds fabulous I also love Alice in wonderland. We really appreciate you watching and leaving such a kind comment x
I love watching your videos. You explain everything so thoroughly. Love your presentation, (and your accent!). I’m especially impressed with your layering style. You’re able to create such richness with your blending and designs. Thank you for sharing your various refinishing talents. 😊
@@MadebyMarley No, you don’t talk too much at all. 😅 Everything you explain, or comment on, or share a quick funny opinion about something, or just conversing with Martyn, it’s all good. That’s what makes your videos so unique. Keep up the great work! ❤️
I’ve been watching your videos for about a month now I love that you’re having fun with the art you produce. This Alice in wonderland piece is amazing and you’ve inspired me to redo my vintage vanity in an Alice style. Thank you for sharing your art with us. Brenda
When I saw the picture before the video I was so excited to see the progress. This is my favorite piece I have seen you do so far. I love this one. Of course it’s your paper. You did a fantastic job on the paper. 🥰
Love this piece so much. 😊 Loving the complete whimsy of it and the color palette. The blue is a perfect shade and reminds me of periwinkle blue, my favorite shade! Lel, you are masterful as usual! Just love the two of you like family. Enjoyed the video while resting. Seems hubby and I have the cold, sore throat and cough/chest congestion you all had before Christmas. It seems to have come to pay its respect to us here in Arizona USA! May you enjoy welcoming in the New Year 2024 with good health, happiness and blessings galore. ❤❤❤❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉

Totally mad for this. It is absolutely delicious.❤ They don’t sell Hard As Nails in US so I splurged and bought some on UK amazon. I usually use TITEBOND Thick and Quick -its in the gray bottle- not sure if you have that in Scotland. So I am eager to see the difference in the two glues. I had the Alice in Wonderland papers in my cart when I made my last purchase and at the last minute decided I needed to wait on that. Nw I am very sorry that I did but there is always next month. Have a wonderful new year

Hi sweetheart ❤. Yesterday a video came up on my TH-cam feed--a guy explains great books. The book happened to be Alice in Wonderland. I thought I knew more or less everything about AIW, but I was wrong. I'm going to try and send it to you on Facebook. I went on to listen to him on Ulysses by James Joyce. I was feeling guilty and mentally challenged for not ever having read it. I decided that, as a writer, I needed to read it. But you know what? In spite of the constant reminders of the GREAT IMPORTANCE of this book, by the time I reached the end, having listened to the sampling of pieces read aloud, I decided that I will never read Ulysses. Life is too short. AIW plays brilliantly with language, logic and math. I started reading it at age 7. I've lost count of how many times since, but I'll keep reading it and give Joyce a miss. Would you ever consider making a set of papers from Through the Looking Glass? "Wool and water, wool and water." Happy New Year to you, "Omo" Poppy, all children, grandchildren and dogs. Think there's a cat in the mix too. Think you need a couple of goats and a miniature donkey too😂. ❤️🤗😘
Elena you are far more educated in your reading than I.... I have read many text books and thesis on the mind when at uni, and as I was there twice I feel I've done my reading. Does that make me a twit? I listen to audio books at least 3 a week while I paint. I don't think this qualifies ha ha ha Amo is a reader and reads anything that interests him. Happy happy new year to you my friend. And as they say in Scotland "A guid neurday tae yae" Lel x x
Happy, Healty, and Prosperous New Year to You and Yours❣️ I am very grateful for the artistic knowledge You generously share in such a detailed and personable way. You both add beauty to a world that has too much ugliness. Bless You Both❤️
I am still such a novice, your information detail is so valuable for people like me. I have the perfect glass piece to try something like this. Ya know, that just leave it alone concept has so many applications in life besides decoupage paper. Should be words to live by! You need a shirt that says that, lol, beautiful beautiful piece, xxoo guys
Yes, leave it alone works for so many things. You are not a novice at all.... Just you treat every opportunity as a learning opportunity. And that's the way to get really good I teach myself new things all the time... Its goid to keep growing... But not my waistline it's not good when it grows x
Hi, When I started watching your videos I thought your channel is named 'Mad by Marley' due to the small writing!! I just thought your work is mad, but so beautiful! I love your work and it is my favorite Sunday afternoon pass time! You inspire me to be more creative!
I know it was not everyone's taste at the start and I wouldn't have been able to sell it.... Decoupage is always a good one when your trying to cover up lots of ugly parts x x And happy Hogmanay when it comes Janet, I spent most of my childhood in sorn at Hogmanay when my aunties and uncles and granny all lived there. We used to first foot the village. I'm getting old and nostalgic. Love to you Janet stay well and healthy this 2024. Lel x
Well it took all day, but I finally managed to finish. I caught some bug that laid me out for the last few days, but I'm finally starting to mend. As usual you wove just the right amount of magic to create yet another stunning piece. Enjoy your Hogmanay festivities. I must admit I have never heard of the tradition, but it sounds like an amazing one to celebrate. Happy new year to the both of you!
Hi ya Lel and Martyn. STUNNING! STUNNING! Such Detail just Blows my mind! I ❤❤❤ IT I know I’ve got Some catching up to do I’ve been away on Holidays. HAPPY! HAPPY! NEW YEAR . Take care guys till nxt time ❤yxx
It’s just gone midnight in NewZealand🥂🥂🥂 Happy new year to you both I hope 2024 continues to show us your incredible off the charts talent and that business gets to another level❤You’re certainly a dream team and love your authenticity
You Guys!! It's Saturday!! (Leastwise State side) You scared the bejesus outta me making me think it was Sunday, maybe you been toking too long on that mushroom hookah?! 🤔 ☠😜 Wassup?? Regardless, love this, such fun! But the glass front was capturing my attention, a transitional Art Deco design there, interesting work. Unfortunately not so desirable are these pieces anymore but I love the new life our Craft gives to these tired & often unloved pieces! Happy New Year u 2! 🎉
I know I loved this piece it was just the right amount of quirky. However I didn't have room for it so there to hard to sell as it was. So that's why it ended up as it did.... I don't know if I will have it long. Now to you.... stay happy for the Hogmanay. Do you party? I certainly do us scottish love a party ha ha ha And I wish you a happy, healthy and fun 2024 full of projects x x Lel x
HAPPY NEW YEAR..... So many ideas ... Great job as always... Thanks for everything... See you two soon... Take a break tho... You two have more than earn it... Just so you two can catch your breath....
It's a good set cassandra enough to do a couple of good sised pieces.... Have fun. And keep making marty laugh with your Facebook posts x x Have a great 2024 x
Well it was supposed to be out tomorrow but I thought no one has time for that. I thought I could do it today as I didn't have anything to put on my social media other than me eating more cakes ha ha ha Happy Hogmanay to you x
This is definitely trippy and I love it. This story and Cinderella were my favorites growing up, although the white rabbit kind of stressed me out with being in such a hurry always 😂. I have this strange feeling that you won’t be doing any story painting on glass any time soon, after this? 😂. Thank you so much for sharing this tutorial with all of us! I wonder what the person who buys this will use it for? Thanks Marty for being such a wonderful camera and music guy, and providing the playful quips! Oh, and the lesson on the origins of the piccadillo! I didn’t even know what those were called. I still wonder why they wore such strange looking things? What a hoot! ❤❤❤❤❤
Ha ha ha I'm laughing at my tudor history and painting all in one. I think they will probably use it as a gin bar or cocktail cabinet... Well that's how I'm going to market it anyway. Have a healthy happy and full of fun 2024.....see you soon. Lel x
@@MadebyMarley gin cabinet! Of course. I didn’t even think of it that way! I would definitely use it for that! Happy Hogmanay, I am going to say that every year on New Year’s Eve from now on, since I just learned what it means and it sounds very medieval! Also, I know what haggis is, but I’m not sure about neeps and tatties? Also, I started to learn Gaelic about 10 yrs ago but gave it up as I had no one to speak it with. I did learn a few things about grammar, but I’ve forgotten most of it.
Happy new year!! To you Maz, thank you so much for your kind words and encouragement this year..... All the best for 2024.... May we find lots of great things to paint x x
Hi, new follower. I'm loving your style and learning how you create your pieces. You said a generic resin? Which one do you prefer? I'm on a tight tight budget for now and the amazing cast brand is expensive.
I love this piece! However, as a stained/leaded restoration artist I have to wonder what happens if one of the glass panels breaks? I've made a 20 year career repairing broken glass 😳
Well what if anything happens I tend to think that the decoupage paper protects it..... The customer who bought it a year ago has no issues in fact bought more.... I'm a kind glass half full. I do worry when they leave on a pallet but I've never had a piece of broken glass..... Ever...
Hi Maryka, we are so glad you are watching with everything you are experiencing at the moment, we think about you a lot with the news every day. Please be safe and well and we hope 2024 brings you peace and happiness. Marty and Lel xx
What a treat!!! So nice to see your video a day early. AND that I am one of those who loves Alice in Wonderland. Why? It is a very magical story of a time gone by, which holds sweet memories of my youth. Who wouldn't want to escape to Wonderland, particularly in this time of such strife everywhere you turn. I have made a few things with Alice in mind, but not a large piece of furniture, so it was of particular interest to me how you incorporated your unique style to this theme. My goodness, filled to the tippy-top with patterns and images. So much so, that it is hard to make make out the initial decoupaged images. Of course, I love it and would have never thought to do so much that comes so naturally to you. Since I work smaller, I do wish I could see how you created that Alice lamp, did you take any photos? Were you able to at all relax over your short holiday break??? I imagine your family dinner was delightful and everyone must have marveled over Martyn's stunning centerpiece structure, with your beautiful decorations. Your home looked so grand, but all too soon it will be time to pack it back up for next year ~ sigh... (so much work!) Very much looking forward to seeing you soon. Love always, Sydni
Okay sydni I will talk you through what I did with the Alice lamp, I painted the shade cream and just added 2 or 3 of the large images. I also added the words. I didn't stencil or stamp it, it was quite paired down and once I had applied my paper I painted up to the edges. As I added some roses I used red gingham check around the shade. The base I painted cream and I only added the large mad hatter image to the front and blended up to the image with cream paint. If you think of the first steps I did with this piece but instead of the glass they were the shade that's all it was not complicated or difficult. I'm sorry I have no images and it sold so fast I didn't need any. It is something you can do easily just strip everything I do back and keep it very simple. I really liked the lamp it was very classy and I think it would have worked in a room as it was cream. I really hope this helps you. Lots and lots of love and happy new year when it comes. And I took my decorations down it made me sad.... I'm all clean and ship shape for Hogmanay ❤️❤️❤️
Thank you Lel, for those detailed directions, it was a Christmas gift. Really appreciated the time you took to write it all out. I do need to send you some images of some of the things I make, as soon as I can figure out how to do it. (Can you believe that I'm that computer incompetent! It's shameful!) So that's what you did to relax last week...Christmas has gone back into storage. - WOW! It is clear that you do not know how to unwind. Just a powerhouse! Kisses my friend. @@MadebyMarley
As I always say everything you do turns out amazing. Love the alice pieces you do. I'm not a fan if that stuff but u make me want to do one! ❤ BTW what resin are you using. I need a cheaper alternative to what I've been using. Thanks so much. Love from Southern Illinois. Becky 😊
Hi Becky, It's Martyn. The products available in the UK vs the USA are often not available in each others markets. I know a little about why this is and its to do with US and UK Customs and import regulations in both and the lengths manufacturers need to go to so they can certify their products in other countries. Bottom line is in most cases, its not that it is impossible to do its just a pain and there are more often other products available in the US or UK that are basically the same just with different names for things. You know, like Potato Potato, tomato tomato, aluminum aluminum. So anyway, I did a little serach on the US Amazon site and if we were on Holiday in the US and Lel needed resin, this is the one I would buy. amzn.to/48fosEx Hope this helps, I think its available in smaller sizes, I just like to buy them in the bigger ones, last longer and better value. Martyn
I would like to purchase these decoupage pieces. Where can I find them please? I am continuing my masterclass with you every evening after work 😂😂 Your instinct for design blows me away. Also which POSCA pens do you prefer? They have different tips

Wassup?? Regardless, love this, such fun! But the glass front was capturing my attention, a transitional Art Deco design there, interesting work. Unfortunately not so desirable are these pieces anymore but I love the new life our Craft gives to these tired & often unloved pieces! Happy New Year u 2! 🎉
I know I loved this piece it was just the right amount of quirky. However I didn't have room for it so there to hard to sell as it was. So that's why it ended up as it did.... I don't know if I will have it long. Now to you.... stay happy for the Hogmanay. Do you party? I certainly do us scottish love a party ha ha ha
And I wish you a happy, healthy and fun 2024 full of projects x x

Happy new year 🎉❤
Happy Hogmanay to you have a great 2024 x

I love the handles idea! Happy New Year looking forward to all your videos love M. ❤
Yes it's one I used to do quite alot, honestly I forget more than I remember ha ha ha
Thanks for your continued support. Love Lel

Happy new year!! And thank you so much for watching x
Hi, new follower. I'm loving your style and learning how you create your pieces. You said a generic resin? Which one do you prefer? I'm on a tight tight budget for now and the amazing cast brand is expensive.
Merry Christmas to u both ,love u and a happy happy new year
Happy new year, and I hope you have a healthy and happy 2024 x x
Amazing work. Where can I find your other Alice in Wonderland pieces ❤️
Hey lenetta if you go to my website and click the decoupage section you will find it there.
Here my Website
www.madebymarley.co.uk
I love this piece! However, as a stained/leaded restoration artist I have to wonder what happens if one of the glass panels breaks? I've made a 20 year career repairing broken glass 😳
Well what if anything happens I tend to think that the decoupage paper protects it..... The customer who bought it a year ago has no issues in fact bought more.... I'm a kind glass half full.
I do worry when they leave on a pallet but I've never had a piece of broken glass..... Ever...
Watching😊
Hi Maryka, we are so glad you are watching with everything you are experiencing at the moment, we think about you a lot with the news every day. Please be safe and well and we hope 2024 brings you peace and happiness. Marty and Lel xx
How do I get those amazing papers, Lel dear??

So anyway, I did a little serach on the US Amazon site and if we were on Holiday in the US and Lel needed resin, this is the one I would buy. amzn.to/48fosEx
Hope this helps, I think its available in smaller sizes, I just like to buy them in the bigger ones, last longer and better value.
Martyn
Can the resin pieces be put on wood ?
Oh yes definitely they work better on wood x x
What stencils re you using?
I've no idea I have so many..... Just a curly scroll flower pattern type stencil x
I would like to purchase these decoupage pieces. Where can I find them please? I am continuing my masterclass with you every evening after work 😂😂 Your instinct for design blows me away.
Also which POSCA pens do you prefer? They have different tips
Hi Cat, Thanks for watching and contacting us, The Alice papers are available on our website here. you are very kind and we hope this helps you. Martyn.: www.madebymarley.co.uk/product-page/special-order-alice-in-wonderland-set-of-12-papers
