yeah they are cool they were my first concert at the monsters of rock in 1990 i was 15 when glam was riding high and for me its still riding after almost 20 years im a true glamrocker
Loveloveluuuuv this band! Classic! One of the best bands ever! I have a lot of friends with different music taste, and we don't always agree, but there's one band we can always join around - The Quireboys! Love every song on their first album! I never get tired of listening to them. Good in every way and never goes out of style! Timeless! (Why did they not make it big? That's one big mystery! But it happens to a lot of good musicians ... ever heard of Searching for Sugar Man ..?) All in all they're on my 10-top of all rock bands and all our friends love them as much as we do! Will never be forgotten!
I don't care who they sound like these guys kicked ass! Several years ago I ran across This is Rock and Roll and picked up without hearing it because I was so excited to see a new album by them and listen to it all the time! The title track and Taken for a Ride are my favorites, check it out if you haven't heard it!
heard this on rock radio and asked everyone in my house and they didnt know exactly who sung it...so i googled and here it is! what a song, love the tune and the lyrics!!!
ginger from the wildhearts used to be in the Quireboys, spent a lot of the 97 tour with them in the uk took them to the frog and toad in Bradford UK. great guys last saw them supporting alice cooper with thunder in sheffield 2004ish, takes me back
i still remember when i got no money to buy their album,i traded my Queensryche and Skid Row tapes with my friend coz he got one,and now i still have that casette tape as my collection and later got a new quennsryche and skid row album after saving a few bucks... :)
saw them a couple of years back at Bristol, still had it together and a great voice....are they still around - everyone else from the era (and British) are back touring, and doin festivals
although I wasn't a fan of this era rock (grew up on 60's garage) I wish it was still out there! Like compared to the pap you see and hear on mainstream radio and tv, it's a godsend. At least it has real instruments and no auto-tune! Peace
I still can't beileve Im realted to this guy. no you read this and wont beileve me, but Spike lead singer is my cousin on my dads side (through marrage), not blood but still family plus I went to see this guys play age 9 supporting Alice Copper in CIA (Cardiff)
@BigAl5782 Lineup cicrca 1989 - 1990: Spike (Vocals), Guy Bailey (Guitar), Nigel Mogg (bass), Chris johnstone (piano), Ginger / Guy Griffin (Rhythmn guitar, depending exactly when we're talking about -this is probably GG) Nick connell / ian wallance (Drums - again, depends when we mean). The five person pix are probably due to the floating nature of drummers and rythmn guitarists - both were replaced around the time of the first album
man those guys have some nice guitars. It sounds a bit like ACDC. I remember them from back in the day, but I didn't hear this track. thanks for posting.
ahaha I remember this vid cos the girl i was going out with at the time really hated one of the girls in the video and used to throw things at the tv.. .good song though :D
@Badjellythewitch yeah i meant receding. WHen i saw quireboys backing whitesnake he had a bandanna and when my uncle saw him lasst year he had a thick head of hair and no bandanna must be a rug
@juker606 But still, Aerosmith became famous before Quireboys, that's nothing you can change. And yes grunge was new and so on, that's why people probably listened to it.
On the Album cover of 'A bit of what you fancy' there are only 5 people shown, even though six recorded the album. Who are the five on there, and why is one missing? someone please tell me :)
@juker606 Maybe because bands like Nirvana became famous at almost the same time, and people started to listen more to them than to bands like quireboys? Just a theory, i dont know if its true.
@juker606 Just because it doesnt come natural to you, it doesnt have to mean that it is like that for everyone. And it is unique, because no one else sounds like Spike, that's it. And so if he tries to make his voice "cooler" or whatever, it sounds good at least. And you are not forced to listen to his "forced" voice either.
@juker606 But now they didn't make that song, since it's not their type of music, and I don't think they would have been famous with that song either. People like Quireboys because of the style they have now, and it's a shame that not more people knows who they are.
@juker606 Aerosmith became famous BEFORE Quireboys, and i still got my theory about Nirvana and bands like that became more popular at that time. And Quireboys are not like Aerosmith.
@juker606 Still, i dont think its because of Quireboys MUSIC people dont listen to them. And a band dont need to do classic stuff just to make people listen to them.
@juker606 Well, im just trying to say that its nothing wrong with his voice, its uniqe and pretty natural. I've never heard him sing in another way, and i think it sounds incredible :) Much better than Tyler
@juker606 Still, it's a theory mr. expert. I think quireboys would have been bigger if people would have bought Bittersweet and twisted. But not many did, and why's that? i dont think its because they weren't as good as the other bands.
@TheGuitarSurfin yeah shure....what about today´s bands? full of samplers and shit....nobody sings it´s only rapping.....that was fashion at the time man!
@juker606 Okay, this wasn't the thing we started to argument about, it was actually that you said Spike tried to sound like Steven Tyler. He doesn't, and end of that story. I have heard enough of your "The never really made it big..." now so leave it, quireboys isnt famous, and its a shame.
@juker606 Too folky for you maybe. I think this song is "catchy" and I'm sure many people agree with that. I suppose you would have been famous by now if you would have done what Quireboys "did wrong", but in the right way.
@juker606 Look up the word wiseacre and there you go, a word for your personality. Yeah, they are in the same genre, but they dont sound like eachother. And why are you getting stucked on that fucking song all the time, i dont care if quireboys would have done it famous or not, they have their own style and I KNOW THEY DIDNT make it during the late 80s, but A Bit Of What You Fancy was something many liked. They didnt just do "okay" songs, do something better instead of complain.
Fan det här bandet hade jag nästan glömt av. Bra låt man lyssnade på, på 90-talet 😃🤗❤️🇸🇪
yeah they are cool they were my first concert at the monsters of rock in 1990 i was 15 when glam was riding high and for me its still riding after almost 20 years im a true glamrocker

on mainstream radio and tv, it's a godsend. At least it has real instruments
and no auto-tune! Peace

I still can't beileve Im realted to this guy. no you read this and wont beileve me, but Spike lead singer is my cousin on my dads side (through marrage), not blood but still family

So have you talked to him or introduce yourself after all these years..I like Spike's voice..sounds like Rod Stewart
@BigAl5782 Lineup cicrca 1989 - 1990: Spike (Vocals), Guy Bailey (Guitar), Nigel Mogg (bass), Chris johnstone (piano), Ginger / Guy Griffin (Rhythmn guitar, depending exactly when we're talking about -this is probably GG) Nick connell / ian wallance (Drums - again, depends when we mean).

@juker606 He is even older than 20 in this video. Doesn't matter if he isn't ready to you, we other people likes his voice. This song is the best!

RIP Guy Bailey. Great song, even though it’s basically nicked from The Who’s “I Can’t Explain”.
@Badjellythewitch
yeah i meant receding. WHen i saw quireboys backing whitesnake he had a bandanna and when my uncle saw him lasst year he had a thick head of hair and no bandanna must be a rug

@juker606 But still, Aerosmith became famous before Quireboys, that's nothing you can change. And yes grunge was new and so on, that's why people probably listened to it.
instrumental is quite close to "sweet home alabama" isn't it?
I miss Guy Bailey though..............
On the Album cover of 'A bit of what you fancy' there are only 5 people shown, even though six recorded the album. Who are the five on there, and why is one missing? someone please tell me :)

@TheGuitarSurfin Aerosmith? I think you mean The Faces...
@09prudac Trallagh til ye. What is your opinion on the recent antics of Ian Beale?
@juker606 It doesn't have to sound natural at all, and Spike is showing that to the world and many likes it so why complain?
@DutchFord86
Thanks ;)
@juker606 But now they didn't make that song, since it's not their type of music, and I don't think they would have been famous with that song either. People like Quireboys because of the style they have now, and it's a shame that not more people knows who they are.
Who is the girl?
Laura Bailey.amd catalina guirado
Anybody knows who directed this video?
Looks like Michael Bay could've done it.
@juker606 Aerosmith became famous BEFORE Quireboys, and i still got my theory about Nirvana and bands like that became more popular at that time. And Quireboys are not like Aerosmith.
@guilhermebsr
me ;) when I was 17!
@juker606 Spike isn't 16 in this video.
1 sleep xD
@juker606 Still, i dont think its because of Quireboys MUSIC people dont listen to them. And a band dont need to do classic stuff just to make people listen to them.

@juker606 I don't think you have to sing clear and natural in this genre, if it sounds good then it's fine.
@juker606 It's not "noice" to me at all, it's music to me. And i don't care if it's critizicized, would that stop me to listen to it or what? Please.
adoro essa merda *---*
@TheGuitarSurfin yeah shure....what about today´s bands? full of samplers and shit....nobody sings it´s only rapping.....that was fashion at the time man!
i think spike is bald now as he often wears a bandanna, always gud for covering up a recieving hairline!
@juker606 Okay, this wasn't the thing we started to argument about, it was actually that you said Spike tried to sound like Steven Tyler. He doesn't, and end of that story. I have heard enough of your "The never really made it big..." now so leave it, quireboys isnt famous, and its a shame.
well pink floyd's hey you is better but this is good too
@juker606 Too folky for you maybe. I think this song is "catchy" and I'm sure many people agree with that. I suppose you would have been famous by now if you would have done what Quireboys "did wrong", but in the right way.
@juker606 Tyler's voice would never sound as good as Spike's.
@juker606 Look up the word wiseacre and there you go, a word for your personality.
