It's kind of a shame to miss out on Tezzeret when the deck is called Affinity and he's the only Affinity card available! (Also, his Arena animations are great.)
I ran into the modern version of this (Glitters-Brute affinity) at the SCG regionals last Saturday. I've been trying to figure out this brew since, and now it's here! Thank you so much Seth! Problem solved!
Can always tell when I watch your budget videos I will see a ton of people try to que with the deck, I always build to counter it for fun and see it 40% of the time.
The shock land is 8 bucks (Based on TCG) you could have added them in and be just above 100. 28:00 Why not get 2nd serpent? a 1/1 that can't be blocked haste is worse than a 6/6 with protection from oko imo. 1:07:00 So if you thought a wrath was coming would it be better just to glitter brute make him unblockable and attack with owl and brute? Based on the last 2 cards you would eventually pump the brute in hand enough that you should be able to kill them.
ive been playing a green version of this using guild globe, golden egg, wand of vertebrae to continuously go to town with mystic forge. Then the green is for guilded goose and rampage of the clans!
@@MTGGoldfish Yeah its also instant speed so its often a huge blow out! my list is more non-creature focused and really makes the most of war saheeli's static ability
Sounds interesting, can I have the list to test it out? Currently I've been doing a dance of the manse + rampage deck with the enchantment type removal so it could be good to get ideas from both.
So how does the Ozolith look as an addition to this after Ikoria? Anything thats been pumped by Steel Overseer gets all its counters saved and moved around, seems pretty awesome.Would work with saccing the Inquisitive Puppet too if you needed to beef up something on command. Im hoping there is some replacement for the Steel Overseers and Mystic Forges once rotation happens.
1 thing I can honestly say about Budget magic is that it's exciting to watch because there are better cards to put into these decks and Seth gimps himself with these budget cards and STILL WINS GAMES. Edit: 1:05:18 THE GODLIEST OF GOD DRAWS

Since you have a lot of bigger toughness creatures and untap synergies i think you should be running 1-2 copies of Gauntlets of Light as backup All That Glitters

Match 3 could have been very different near the end. The only punt was not using ashiok again. would have dropped them from 25 cards in library to 21. we may never know what those 4 cards were, but we can believe they were all lands...
I am loving the look of this deck and I will build it but what would your list be if it wasnt a budget deck ? Lands are definitely a must but is there anything else you would change ?
So this deck is named because it has a similar feel to modern affinity, a deck that includes no affinity cards. But is called affinity because of a standard deck that run actual cards with affinity but next to nothing as the same as the modern deck
It is how it goes. Mtg tends to make rares better than uncommons, which are typically better than commons. Mythics are different because they tend to just have unique effects more than objectively good effects.
Speaking from observation, Chamber Sentry is just too slow. Yes, the pinging is nice, but especially with this manabase, it can only ever be a 2/2 or a Shock for 4, which the cards in the sideboard can just do better. Yes, Steel Overseer pumps its ping, but that's usually just incidental since you're trying to pump the bigger threats to hit face.
Yoyo Campos I feel like a 2/2 or 1/1 that might ping something has got to be better than lockthwain guardian or the puppet since they literally do nothing without help
@@alexvanburen6410 Locthwain Gargoyle has built-in evasion, and Inquisitive Puppet scrys and leaves a chump blocker. It's not fair to say they "literally do nothing".
Would love to see a not-so-budget magic version of this deck and see how that functions. Its very clear that mana base does the deck 0 favors unfortunately
Nice deck but where is the Chamber Sentry. It is almost a walking ballista and since you are using steel overseer you can pump it up then shoot your opponent for X damage
I'd have to look at the situation. One of the upsides of Emry is that it can change the top of our deck (usually for just one mana) when we have Mystic Forge out. If it's just going to die when we play it, it's sometimes better to hold it and try to get more value from it later.
So sad cause I've been trying to make an artifact deck since core 2020 and it started as a superfriends artifact deck and after throne I made a decklist REALLY close to this one... And then saffron olive just goes and does it better 😅

That Sultai opponent really misplayed with their first Brontodon. It doesn’t make sense to destroy the Conclave Tribunal instead of something like Arcanist Owl or Lochthwain Gargoyle. Edit: They’re second one was also pretty bad. They should’ve killed the Stonecoil Serpent which had protection from almost all of their board
This might sound like a bad dad joke, but it's actually most of what I do with my beard. I'm not big into oils and such. Just don't shave, trim it once and a while, and you're good to go.
Painful misplay with mysticforges: 2 activations to do at upkeep, first mill the 2nd best card in the deck (because the best one wins immediately) and then NOT milling the land next to it? wtf?
Shouldn't you mill yourself instead of your opponent with Ashiok? With an Emry on the battlefield, it's like drawing cards. The exile effect still exiles your opponent's graveyard, not yours.
@@MTGGoldfish I agree; maybe it had more to do with the identity of Blue and Artifacts, as we currently have Witch's Oven + Cauldron Familiar in standard right now. That combo does provide free 1/1 blocker, draining life for free, and getting sac triggers, etc. But that's a black thing, which makes 100% sense. Maybe they didn't want (1) Too much of that consistency for a Dimir Artifacts deck and (2) Blue and Artifact to "overlap" identities with Black.
Again.. is there really a difference between playing "Once Upon a Time" during opponent's turn? "Wait until you draw" vs "changing what you draw after looking at 4"? Can anyone, with all the randomness in Magic, that doing one over the other is really better? I simply don't get it..
The card on top of your deck is functionally the same random as the card 6th from the top of your deck, but if you draw the top card and then play OUAT, you have more information about what you need because you are one card wiser of your gameplan. If you play Once before your draw step, you make your decision and then draw a random card. So it's about making an informed decision. Casting it on your opponents turn before you draw might be an attempt to make your opponent fumble with the magic client, but otherwise seems incorrect most of the time.
@@Kryptnyt you are completely correct. A free card selection spell should always be played at the last possible moment, so you know what you need. I'll also add that I've seen players play it in response to scry lands, which is the worst you can do. If you do that you tell your opponent exactly what they should scry after to beat your hand as well as telling them what deck you are playing
An example would be if you kept a one land hand. If you use OUAT during your opponent’s turn, you will always grab another land, but if you wait for your turn and draw a land, you’ll have more decisions.
The biggest upside is that you get more information. It's possible that your draw step reveals something that changes your plan (like you need a land with Once Upon a Time, but draw one for your draw step). Then you can hold onto Once Upon a Time to find something else.

I actually used an affinity list with Ugin AND Tezzeret for the win every card challenge practice round. anvilwrought raptor is actually decent in it.
Gingerbrute was an absolute unit during prerelease for me. Kept pumping it and running all over my opponents.

I happened to be watching this at my parents' house. I'll give you three guesses as to exactly when they walked in, and the first two don't count.
That one drop manifold key that untaps artifacts and makes creatures unblockable would be awesome here
I haven't really tried it yet. There is some synergy for sure. I'll have to test it out.
Changed all corridor monitors for manifold keys and it worked very well!

Tezzeret is sweet, but six mana (and being in black) it rough.

You're aware that you can use Ashiok to mill yourself and still exile each opponent's graveyard, right? That way you can fuel Emry.

No one every plays it! It's really powerful in the right shell though.

An example would be if you kept a one land hand. If you use OUAT during your opponent’s turn, you will always grab another land, but if you wait for your turn and draw a land, you’ll have more decisions.
The biggest upside is that you get more information. It's possible that your draw step reveals something that changes your plan (like you need a land with Once Upon a Time, but draw one for your draw step). Then you can hold onto Once Upon a Time to find something else.
