The top foreign universities like the Ivy leagues and the Russell Group, especially, are politically charged environments with many covert and even overt racists who will systematically kill the dream of a brilliant black kid merely to satisfy their ego. Do we know of any successful black Ghanaian kid who went to our international schools and later paid many dollars to attend an Ivy league? All those talents and dollars have been wasted!
Many brilliant students who leave Ghana, mostly go to the top universities on scholarship. For most of us, staying in Ghana would have ruined our dreams. It's tough and lonely out here but pursuing an intellectual pursuit in Ghana is depressing and can look hopeless.
