I'm really growing to appreciate central american cichlid aquascapes like this. They're simple yet believable and they're a great backdrop for the fish, which are the focus instead of the aquascape itself. Not something you always see! Very well done!
Beautiful tank :) what size tank is that, do you have a different kind of Synsillum, I notice those white spots/dots on the side of them, I don't see them generally on Synspillum or are those mellonerums (I spelled that wrong). I am just wondering why I don't see colors that you have, very nice :)
thank you, it is a 300 gallon tank. The fish are officialy melanura, but know as synspilum. This is a natural spotted population, probably from the Chiapas region of Mexico.
you have any problems from the synspilum mine is in a 4x2x2 alone he's 13 inches of violence he beat my 9 inch male buttikoferi up so now he is out healing

pool sand in three different sizes. Mixed with gravel
