Very informative session. Thank you Dr. SB. The government should support local farmers and save foreign exchange. Please keep raising your voice on import of Garlic. If our local garlic is good enough so no need to import
Sub se pehle in k apne ek scientist ne croron rupees ki fasal laga k bechi. Subsidized rate pr beej le k hazaron rupeesper kg ka rate narc scientists ne he ponchaya tha

Investor aur narc ne mil k awam ko loota ha g1 k naam pr. NARC should bound the investors for reasonable price. Kiun k pakistani awam k taxes k croron rupees kharch hoty han tb ja k koi cheez successful hoti ha aur us k baad investors 4 din man awam se ek bar phr croron rupees loot lete han.
It s so FUNNY to keep harvested crop in fields ...reflects your bookish knowledge instead of practical approach.....here in pak..even old ..damaged shoes are stolen from shoe rakes of masjid n how such crops can be kept open in fields ...can you affords such approach I'm ur own village /home town...so we must be realistic in practical life n especially in giving expertise at such senior levels ....
These are welcoming remarks from the garlic growers. It is very hard for the growers to even believe that commodity could be dried in the field. Previous practices when it was sold green in the field, making it hard to believe. Farmers who can afford to store while using different drying practices must do it as per previous practices. My advice is for the resource poor farmers and particularly new growers to dry it in the field and then pack it on the net bags for storage a a limited available place. The theft factor varies with farm to farm and area to area. A few days watch and ward in the field who can manage it would be beneficial in a number of ways. It took bit longer to explain all the prerequisites of this alternative approach for harvesting, field drying, and storage practices. All that I shared will practice at many farms under my advisory. Open drying I myself practices previously at small and large scale as well.
dr.sahib you are going in unnesasery detail and getting borring.i think you should make things little short .and keeping 15 days in field how to protect from rain.
Discussion on the subject went a bit longer as the subject covered includes preharvest crop management, crop maturity, harvesting protocols, field drying methods, packaging, and storage. We will bifurcate lengthy subject into short documentaries in future. Our experience shows that during rain is not a bigger factor as if it happened even not damages crop. Crop storage at high moisture level needs immense care, and the risk factor of rottening is quite high.
