Oh man, I was 8 then and I remember all of these - especially Steve Waugh's obviously, but also going to school the next week and impersonating Curtly Ambrose's catch.
I was at the match where Steve Waugh took that catch next to the sight screen. I was in bay 13 which was at the opposite end of the ground, so it was hard to see what happened until he came out the other side.
@@chriswatson7965 The catch should have been ruled a 6 because Waugh ran behind the sightscreen which was the boundary. That was taught in umpiring courses in the following years.
look at the crowds and the excitement for the steve Waugh catch, those days long gone sadly.
I was only 7 years old when Steve Waugh took that outfield catch and I still can’t think of a better outfield catch in the 30+ years since!
Logie and Harper.
Two of the greatest close to the wicket catchers in the history of windies cricket

I was watching that match with AB's c&b. Steve Waugh's when he had to avoid the fence, the sightscreen and Merv was just sheer judgement.
Classic commentary from Griegy for that Waugh catch.
Absolute beauties!
Junior Waugh....classic mullet...😂
Curtly Ambrose's reaction after the caught and bowled was ho-hum
1:58 for the pre-post favorite

Rules were different back then. They changed for the sake of safety, and you can see from the Waugh catch why.
Learn the rules of the time flog...and then just go away and disappear, nobody will miss you.
