The Switch is the real deal. I've been playing it in all its configurations with all control schemes, just an amazing little device. I have been putting my kindle away at bedtime as well and just "Switching" out. Nintendo have a winner. This is coming from a mostly Xbone gamer and PSVR fan. Zelda is easily a 10 out of 10, amazing game.
Zelda is cool. But the system is lacking. I like the racing WipEout game, but there aren't many games, or apps, or anything to do on a device in 2017. It literally has only the potential of a GameBoy + eShop downloads.
Gorilla Jones dude the switch sucks my son got it. I told him it's a rip off and Zelda is Kool but Big N always makes good first party but I thInk it will fail like the U w no third party support and the graphics are weak your just caught up on nostalgia
Indie games + Virtual Console (eventually) + First party games (some of the best in gaming) + (this year) occasional third party games. All in a system which is basically the "gamer's dream" (Kojima's words). I love my Switch as it is and I know it will only get better with time. The first 8-9 months are looking great (albeit a bit of a slow start)
I think it's obvious that the people who are calling the switch trash are people who haven't even touched one for themselves yet. It's far from perfect but it's only the beginning. It took time for the Xbone and PS4 to find their grounding when it came to games and software efficiency. I'm not worried at all for the Switch.
Mark I definitely wouldn't expect a price drop. You still can't find a Wii U for under $300. Nintendo is notorious for not dropping prices on consoles and games for at least two to three years after release.
Price drops for any console doesn't happen in it's first year (unless it's doing really bad but even the Wii U didn't have one). Have to wait in three years for more for an actual price drop like xbone and ps4 basic. Bundles for you
Your Boi JuhBoi brace yourself for him to give you a very negative impression. Specially since Greg and Tim are positive on it, he'll be the contrarian. Plus its Nintendo, so he's gonna be even harder on it.
Your Boi JuhBoi Colin tweeted his Switch thoughts yesterday - "slick hardware, clean/quick UI, feels comfy as a handheld. Shame there'll be 2-3 reasons a year to actually play it." I hope this is a "Colin was wrong" moment, regarding the amount of quality games coming. I'm loving my Switch. :)
Dan O'Neill i stood corrected. That was some surprising positive impressions from him for the system (excluding the 2-3 reasons comment). Would love to hear someone ask him about the Nindies showcase. Holding the Switch hardware myself, that'w where I want to Indies now (and curated libraries thank God🙌🏻)
Colin is a very different gamer than me 2-3 times a year my ass. I used to play my Wii U *way* more than my PS4 and Xbox One. I have 3 younger siblings and a lot of cousins so that made playing multiplayer games on the Wii U a blast. Colin doesn't experience that on a daily basis. The fun I had playing multiplayer games on the Wii U with my family made that console one of my favorite consoles of all time. Zelda is glorious, but it's not the reason why the Switch is enticing to me. The Switch offers what PS4 and Xbox One doesn't and that's why Nintendo consoles make great complementary devices.
+Trey Miller why should that matter? Really besides owning Zelda what else is worth getting or playing on the system, not much and online having issues Bomberman R online sucks dick
Jason Barrios I'll buy a switch when there's actually games on it..Eat a sandwich game and shake a soda game...are you serious nitendo???!!!!!! what the fuck
All console launches have shit games. Zelda is probably the strongest launch game of any console the last few generations, for any company. With that said, I agree that nintendo needs 3rd party support if it wants to be anyone's "main" console. I don't think that's their goal. Nintendo has always been about great exclusives. When Pokemon, Mario, Mario Kart, Fire Emblem, Fifa, Disgaea, Splatoon, Xenoblade, NBA2K18, and the new Tales game come out, it'll have more than a worthy lineup. I'm super stoked to play all of those as portables, so I'll be getting even the multiplats on the Switch
Why is everyone going crazy over the fact you can play games anywhere. Has Nintendo Fanperson's ever heard of a Laptop, they have been around a while. Plus lots of Games via Steam and Lots of FREE Games, play music, watch films, explore internet etc. Plus screen bigger and better quality. So when everyone has completed Zelda, which should of been out a year ago, but Nintendo knew they had nothing for this small piece of plastic which is very expensive for launch. What will they play ??? NOTHING until October. This will only be worth it in 2 years time, when they have decent games, the online functionality will work and it will be price dropped. I do not understand WHY people are buying this, it's like Nintendo have brain washed so many, just like APPLE when they launch a new iphone.
looks like someone has anger management issue's. I have Laptop, XboxOne, PS4, $6000 PC and Wii U, 3DS. So why would I fork out on this last, last gen piece of child's plastic
It's pretty crazy to see how much of a turn-around Greg has had with the Switch. I'm personally waiting till the Holidays to get one but man am I excited to eventually get my hands on one.
Gaming w/ Bix I get goosebumps every time I'm done with a quest and go do w/e I want. Especially jumping off a mountain with the glider. The Art style is looks amazing to.
Came back to watch these Switch videos again because the firs ttiem I watched them I figured I MAY get a Switch in like a year... then I had the opportunity to order one last week and did it! Just waiting on 4/28 to get here now... So pumped and every time I see people gushing over Zelda, it just makes me even more excited.
Can't really complain about sites reviewing the Switch before all of its functionality is final. 1) Nintendo set the embargo...so they set themselves up for it 2) People in glass houses shouldn't throw stones
I've been playing games for 25 years. I own every console since the NES, I have a gaming PC that maxes games out at 1440p and the Switch is my favorite piece of gaming tech of all time. I can't imagine someone getting their hands on this thing and not loving it. Two of my brother's who haven't touched a video game since PSX/N64 went out and bought one. There are problems, VC should have been there at launch, Nintendo has been REALLY bad at doling out information (as usual), but the hardware is really something special. Kojima was right it is "the gamers dream".
I agree with you guys to an extent, but Nintendo released an unfinished console. I agree with Colin when he said it feels like they released the switch before it was ready for Zelda. Still, a cool system. I'm rooting for it to be successful
The Switch is IT, man. LOOVVEE this thing! Snipperclips with my nieces/nephew, shovel knight and beers with my roommate, eye bleeding Zelda sessions that are currently interfering with my life. I was concerned at first, but Nintendo sprinkled magic on this little beast and it's amazing
You can use your battery packs with it Greg, just don't expect it to keep up. You will squeeze more time out of it, but not charge. If you want to be close to breaking even, you need a battery pack that puts out at least 15V at 2.4-3 amps. Ashley Jenkins has one she says is working great.
I agree with Greg, I am loving my Switch so much. My cons so far are so small that they are barely worth mentioning. If my Switch had the sync issue, I might have thought otherwise, but so far, this is one of my favorite gaming systems, hardware wise. I love the concept and how it feels in your hands. Of cause Zelda is brilliant which helps a lot.
Neil Evans Considering that the UK is very much a Sony country and the Wii sold just a little bit more than that on Launch in the UK this is actually pretty good. Nothing mindblowing but a good start.
I tried to cancel my preorder last week but they wouldn't let me. Then I held the system for the first time; slid the controllers on/off; converted from handheld to television; I was won before I'd even fired up Zelda! #bettyannwasright
No matter how many times I hear this ad, I continue -- for about 10 seconds -- to have the initial thought of: _"Mack Welding?? Why is KFG advertising a welding company; seems kinda local and specialized for an internet podcast."_
Playing with the joy-cons split and relaxed is my favorite way of playing a game ever. (Albeit, I have smaller than average hands) Man, I cannot get over how much I love this console and BOTW. I might end up becoming a Nintendo fanboy after this haha.
THANK YOU TIM!!! I hate numbered reviews for a console SO pointless. there are way too many factors and differences in purpose for a number to make any sense. Read the reviews.
6.7... hmmmm It's not all about specs... Software will be updated for online services and the fact I can take the console on the go.... that makes it amazing for me! I agree with Tim it's so uneccessary
The kickstand is made to break off, i've pulled mine and was able to just snap it back in.. probably in case someone were to put the switch back in the dock before closing the stand :P
Love it as always, guys. Watching this several hours after it's been posted and still no links on the endslate, though. I don't mind the new format, but it seems kind of silly to have an endslate with no links. Makin Tim look like a damn fool pointing at nothing lol.
FPSAaron there are some fun games on it. it's clear after using it that this is the future of immersive gaming. resident evil 7 was a masterpiece in VR
I haven't started Zelda yet since Im still working my through Horizon Zero Dawn. I did grab the demo of Puyo Puyo Tetris from the Japan store...I really like that Nintendo isn't limiting how much you can play. Now I have the US version on pre order.
If Nintendo comes out and starts releasing a lot of virtual console games, I will absolutely buy tons of them. I want all the Marios, I want Diddy Kong Racing, I want WCW vs. NWO, I want Starfox 64, etc.
I agree completely, first party mixed with the nindies, on the go and on the tv! I'm pumped. Especially for the coop on the go, with games like overcooked and towerfall coming! Hopefully everything sells well and we can keep this going, because I think we got something special here.
i was really enjoying listening to this and glad gregg is having such a blast with Switch right now... but i stopped listening halfway through so i could play more of my Switch :P
I empathise with Greg a lot in this situation. I respect and understand the importance of Nintendo in gaming, as I'm sure everyone does, but never felt so connected to them like most. So when someone like Greg, who doesn't overhype Nintendo stuff, talks about the switch in the manner he does it's pretty exciting.
hey @kindafunnygames Tim, at 30:45 you mention that the kickstand feels like it's going to break on you. I don't have a Switch myself so i dont have a personal opinion on this, but i watched The Know's thoughts on the Switch, and Ashley Jenkins mentioned that the kickstand is flimsy because it can be detached and re-attached easily. So if it falls off, dont worry! its not broke! anyway, thought you should know.
I'm a PlayStation fan boy, I bought the Switch/Zelda machine and I love it. BOTW is great! It really blew me out of the water and I find something new and exciting every time I play it. If Nintendo keeps putting this amount of effort and detail in their other titles the switch should have a long life. It may be a bit under powered but Nintendo seems to have find a way around that. Nintendo has never tried to be the best, in a weird way I appreciate them more for it. Nintendo did a excellent job with Zelda, definitely looking forward to see what they do with their other franchises.
PS4 + Switch is the best combo this gen, you can't beat AAA multiplatform games + PlayStation Exclusives + Nintendo Exclusives. Especially if you love Western AND Japanese games. Soulsborne series? check, Pokemon? check, Naughty Dog? check, The Legend of Zelda? check, Hideo Kojima? check, Mario? check, Horizon Zero Dawn? check, Monster Hunter? check......wait how about those other big multiplatform games like Mass Effect and The Witcher? all fucking checked. The only thing you miss out is Halo, I guess. Maybe League of Legend and CS:GO, but I mean come on, there's no way your computer can't run those games. It's 2017.
in walmart its a strange sight to see the switch ad box in place where the switch would be on one shelf, and 2 games on the shelf above it which are both zelda. boy I hope they come with the games fast.
I've played Breath of The Wild with the Joy-Con grip for about 14 hours so far, and the grip is good. I've played in tv mode most of the time, only played in handheld mode about an hour. Handheld mode looks very good, but I prefer to play video games on the tv.
the one thing I can't understand is why the screen on the switch doesn't go all the way to the edge, for me the Bessel around the screen is way to big, I'm hoping they make a switch with a screen that makes the most of the form factor.
I chose to buy some more pc parts instead of getting the switch. But I'm really looking forward to giving it a try in a few weeks time, mainly for zelda
Last time I've owned anything Nintendo was when I bought the OG DS. I have an Xbox one right now but I'm definitely going to pick up the Switch this summer when there's a bit more games on it. Haven't been this interested in a Nintendo console in a while.
Review scores for consoles are pretty stupid imo..... Like do you give the Switch a lower score for not having Netflix!?!? Netflix is on pretty much everything nowadays, but I personally couldn't care less about that feature being absent. It's a video game console, I only need gaming related features....
Im generally someone who couldn't care less about a re release of a game on a new console... but Stardew Valley seems perfect for the Switch. I will definitely buy that again.
I'd like to be psyched to get one but... I'm not. I wish this video could excite my interest in the system but I'd gotten the impression these guys cut Nintendo way too much slack and I'm wary about their opinions regarding this system - now if Colin comes out just as excited and happy with this system I'd probably change my mind considering he'd been critical on issues and information about the system I'm iffy about. Sticking to my original plan, gonna wait til at least holiday 2018 before I'll consider getting one - assuming nothing truly surprising comes out and grabs me between now and then. A lot of games I currently have been gathering dust on my shelf, Wii U sits barely used on my shelf; I had to take an honest look and conclude that I'm wasting my money rushing to get games these days - don't have the time. But I am interested in hearing how people's experience with this system go.
I became a "discount gamer" two years ago and I cannot go back. Aside from Uncharted 4, it's been a long time since I purchased a game at launch. I've grown content to wait a year and watch the price get cut 50-80% while I get the game of the year edition with all of the DLC content plus most major glitches/bugs fixed. The other added advantage to this is that I have plenty of time to do research and see what others have to say about the game. This has all transpired thanks to being burned by a pre-order of Little Big Planet 3. The game at launch was borderline unplayable with so many game breaking bugs and glitches. The stability issues were eventually addressed and the game was pretty fun, but that only happened once the game was selling for $20. Hence, the $60 I paid made that a bitter pill to swallow. Like you, I will closely monitor how the Switch does over time. Cheers!
Switch talk at 7:12
Swerve Train Thanks!
Swerve Train thank you
Thanks Bud!
Thanks dude
Swerve Train thank you

Doing Colin's things. We will have a special Colin Was Right later, and 4 other later in the week !
Danijel B. to be fair, he didn't have a Switch yet when they filmed this
Why the f**k do you have a flag of garbage country as your avatar?
Nice mouth lady...
There is no Colin, there is only Zuul.
The Switch is the real deal. I've been playing it in all its configurations with all control schemes, just an amazing little device. I have been putting my kindle away at bedtime as well and just "Switching" out.
Nintendo have a winner. This is coming from a mostly Xbone gamer and PSVR fan.

Dude zelda cures erectile dysfunction
Zelda is cool. But the system is lacking. I like the racing WipEout game, but there aren't many games, or apps, or anything to do on a device in 2017.

Lol 'Switching out' exactly.
Our first week with the Nintendo Switch... Disappointing
Shits sooo good if ur a zelda kinda person
Says every one who doesn't own one.
I love mine.
BOTW should be played no other way. Its fucking dope
I'm so glad I picked one up for Zelda!
Dobby Potter you don't even have the console LOL you can't talk
I think it's obvious that the people who are calling the switch trash are people who haven't even touched one for themselves yet. It's far from perfect but it's only the beginning. It took time for the Xbone and PS4 to find their grounding when it came to games and software efficiency. I'm not worried at all for the Switch.
Absolutely loving my Switch!
Me too, have you played anything besides Zelda yet?
I have 1, 2 Switch in addition to Zelda. I'm excited for MK8 Deluxe as well.
If you can't wait for MK8, I can recommend Fast RMX. It's pretty good, especially with some friends over :)
Alexander Chilton Agreed I play that game more than Bomberman. But I wish RMX had spilt screen 2 players for online.
***** Played Fast RMX, Snipper clips demo & Blaster Master Zero. Blaster is really cool... but RMX, that game is outstanding!
Just saw Colin on The Rubin Report; SO GOOD! Been a fan of Dave Rubin, The Rubin Report and Colin; so seeing them both together was incredible!
Everyone asking where Colin is when they explain 2 minutes in...
"No one really understands it... but from my understanding..." lol I love Tim
You pay your rent cash? The landlord is probably skipping on some of his taxes.
17:00 Always love the little look Tim gives the camera after a "Beyond"
I am absolutely loving my Switch
"Part of that is Zelda"
Background changes to Skyward Sword
Greg is a fucking wizard
kickstand is meant to break off so if you dock it with kick stand out you don't break your switch
stop trying to sell me socks Tim!
You guys have definitely sold me on get a Switch but I think I'm gonna wait until holiday season when there's a bundle or price drop.
Mark Exactly. Im waiting for a bundle.
Mark I definitely wouldn't expect a price drop. You still can't find a Wii U for under $300. Nintendo is notorious for not dropping prices on consoles and games for at least two to three years after release.
Kragthor I think you're right. I went to GameStop a couple days ago and Pokémon Diamond was still close to $40.
Price drops for any console doesn't happen in it's first year (unless it's doing really bad but even the Wii U didn't have one). Have to wait in three years for more for an actual price drop like xbone and ps4 basic. Bundles for you
And for Nintendo to fix all its little problems.
I really want Colin's opinion on the switch, I wondering if his mind has changed even if it's ever so slightly
Your Boi JuhBoi brace yourself for him to give you a very negative impression. Specially since Greg and Tim are positive on it, he'll be the contrarian. Plus its Nintendo, so he's gonna be even harder on it.

GSLAYER007 Yeah, he was mostly positive. It's hard to talk shit on the Switch after you hold one. Haha.

For the first time i agree with ign the switch is a half ass console so far and is going to take really long for it to improve
Jason Barrios do you have one?

lol tim pointing to nothing at the end there. classic youtube!
"I love the Nintendo Switch. Period. End of statement."- Greg 2017
I would've never expected this...
Really? He seemed to always like it in every preview event he attended. Could see this a mile away.
I've been playing games for 25 years. I own every console since the NES, I have a gaming PC that maxes games out at 1440p and the Switch is my favorite piece of gaming tech of all time. nah, could not give less fucks about switch, sorry guys
Franchute Kikito thanks for letting us know
Franchute Kikito So you're playing Zelda on Wii U?
Franchute Kikito No need 2 apologize its a overpriced shit console.
Kingdaddymaster okay kid, but it really seems like you are in the minority.
I keep seeing this but how? I look at it objectively and it's just simply wrong.
Tim point to the air with no links appearing. Classic. :) Much love Tim.
No Colin. Awesome!!
where has Colin been recently
Yarden Levy Cleaning up the Commonwealth, not sure if you've heard but there's another settlement that needs our help.
Yarden Levy He's on the rubin report
Edward Fryrear Haha, Classic!
I agree with you guys to an extent, but Nintendo released an unfinished console. I agree with Colin when he said it feels like they released the switch before it was ready for Zelda. Still, a cool system. I'm rooting for it to be successful
To anyone having a left joycon issue, download the patch, restart the switch with the joycons actually attached.

Sold 80k here in the UK, I dont know if thats good or bad though :/
2 million
Neil Evans Considering that the UK is very much a Sony country and the Wii sold just a little bit more than that on Launch in the UK this is actually pretty good.
Nothing mindblowing but a good start.
Cool, good to hear, Ill probably get one in a year or so when the library is fleshed out. Gots tons to play on PS4 currently anyway.
It's one of the best launches of all time
I tried to cancel my preorder last week but they wouldn't let me.
Then I held the system for the first time; slid the controllers on/off; converted from handheld to television; I was won before I'd even fired up Zelda!

7:08 : they begin discussing the promised topic.
I think people should wait till the end of a systems cycle to review it with a score
You haven't realized yet that the kickstand pops out automatically with too much pressure? So it can't really break off.
THANK YOU TIM!!! I hate numbered reviews for a console SO pointless. there are way too many factors and differences in purpose for a number to make any sense. Read the reviews.

🌞💯🔥🔥VITA BREATHING HAHAHAHAHAHHAH🔥🔥💯🌞
I'm excited about the switch but I just spent a fortune getting into psvr I'll have to wait a bit. probably best where availability is slim..
Shawn Wax I also bought a psvr instead of a switch and I think it was the right decision.
nope ps vr has less games thatn switch. vr was doa
FPSAaron You even own a PSVR? lol
FPSAaron there are some fun games on it. it's clear after using it that this is the future of immersive gaming. resident evil 7 was a masterpiece in VR
tim the kick stand doesnt break nintendo designed it to snap off when pressure is applied so u can re-attach it
I agree 100% with the impressioms expressed in this video. The Switch is just a magical machine. Love it.
I haven't started Zelda yet since Im still working my through Horizon Zero Dawn. I did grab the demo of Puyo Puyo Tetris from the Japan store...I really like that Nintendo isn't limiting how much you can play. Now I have the US version on pre order.
I called it long ago. Switch is going to be fine. Scorpio is what's in trouble.
Regarding reviewing consoles - We know what we were gonna get. I love my switch, flaws and all. And i can't imagine playing BOTW any other way.

I'm interested to see what Octopath Traveler is like
As a side note, you definitely need to buy tempered glass for the Switch.
I'll get one when a traditional Pokémon RPG comes out for it.
I'm really looking forward to Dandara. The Nindies look great as a whole though. Can't wait until they are released.
New Golden Sun, Metroid, or Mario RPG would be awesome.
I want to hear Colin talk about the Switch!
PlayStation Vita: 17 years of mistakes in one device.
hey @kindafunnygames Tim, at 30:45 you mention that the kickstand feels like it's going to break on you.
Nintendo did a excellent job with Zelda, definitely looking forward to see what they do with their other franchises.
most commonly used greg terms "100 per cent" "it's that thing of"
PS4 + Switch is the best combo this gen, you can't beat AAA multiplatform games + PlayStation Exclusives + Nintendo Exclusives.
It's 2017.
I think the stand is magnetic, even if u snap it, its not broken.
in walmart its a strange sight to see the switch ad box in place where the switch would be on one shelf, and 2 games on the shelf above it which are both zelda. boy I hope they come with the games fast.
My friends admitted that the UI on the Switch is super fast, but the console would be dead in the water without Zelda propping it up.
TheHonestjbone Games sell consoles, unless you are Xbone. They have no exclusives.
I think Steep was in the game reel at the Switch event.
I've played Breath of The Wild with the Joy-Con grip for about 14 hours so far, and the grip is good. I've played in tv mode most of the time, only played in handheld mode about an hour. Handheld mode looks very good, but I prefer to play video games on the tv.
I want to hear what Colin thinks about the Switch post-launch.
I wouldn't want to rush Zelda either once you beat it you have 6-7 months before the switch is relevant again.
the one thing I can't understand is why the screen on the switch doesn't go all the way to the edge, for me the Bessel around the screen is way to big, I'm hoping they make a switch with a screen that makes the most of the form factor.
Nintendo got it so good that people are gonna buy their shit regardless smh... The Apple of the gaming industry.
knoble1985 Nintendo lives of nostalgia.
OR you could realize that power is not the only thing to make a console appealing. And as a handheld this is impressively powerful.
I hope switch gets hype enough and profitable enough that Sony is like "Release our new handheld" one can dream lol
Sweet Moses, Greg sounds like he's really drunk while recording this
Im generally someone who couldn't care less about a re release of a game on a new console... but Stardew Valley seems perfect for the Switch. I will definitely buy that again.
You guys show Tim pointing at the annotations at the end of the video, but no annotations are present.
starts: 7:17
It has a lot of issues. It should not have come out this early. Nintendo didnt have room to mess around this time.
Switch has been great for Zelda. I Cannot wait for the other 1st Party stuff and Indies.
I completely agree we should not put a number on console review and if we do then that score should be revised at least each year
Ive always wondered is tim the guy on the packaging of the PlayStation vr box ?
would love to know
Lets make Kinda Funny Gamescast No 1 or 2 on podcast
Asyraff Yusri he's just really swamped atm, I'm sure having his own show is gonna take a bit to get a rhythm for.
Cheers!
hahaha great opening ad. i love tim
what's up with the camera going in and out of focus? i noticed it on gog and it's still doing it here.
Do they not realize the kickstand is meant to just pop off? How could it break
