The gorillas Tayari and Iriki had very different mothering skills and both boys are growing up wonderfully. But people were taken aback by Tayari. She received a lot of negative comments that she cared nothing about!😂

Why is Effie so rough with her baby? Ive seen her in other videos recently and i didnt want to believe what i was seeing which was her being so very uninterested in her baby. I just dont understand.

That poor baby gets thrown on the ground a lot. I have never seen a gorilla do that to her baby...at least not at such a very young age. Something is definitely going on with the mother. Maybe she has postpartum depression.
Quite a few people assumed that it is postpartum depression. I hope she will get better soon so she can take a good care of her baby.

No, it's her second baby!
What are the ages of the babies?
One of them was born on 17 January and the other one was born on 8 February (and turned 3 months old today! 🎉 )

Maybe she has mastitis that is why she is not feeding baby on demand. The concern is baby not eating and mother pushing baby down to the he ground.
Today I was at the zoo and noticed that Effie's treatment of the baby improved significantly . 🥰She begun to feed him well as well as being a much better mother. I just published a short where this can be seen.😍😍

Thank you for watching and for your comment. To justify the London Zoo: these gorillas have a large territory covered with evergreen grass. There are many bushes, trees and a zone for games. They also have a room closed from the eyes of visitors. Gorillas like to come to the glass aviary and look at the visitors. This is entertainment not only for the people but also for gorillas. They know that people admire them.
