Which I have never understood since Iran is Persian. In other words, Iranians are NOT Arabs. How come China is so huge in economy and military? Ditto the USA and Russia? Because they all follow this mantra: the enemy or my enemy is my friend. Iran should have been allies of the Israeli's from the beginning, from 1948. Even after 1979, although I get it then: Islamic Revolution can't really side with Israel. So 40 years later here we are...

We see this complete lack of understanding how democracy should work in every Muslim majority nation. Islam is inherently xenophobic because that’s what Muhammad taught. Look at the failure of Arab Spring. All the Muslims wanted was to replace a dictator with a theocratic dictatorship. 😵‍💫

If you need a near on identical situation you only have to look at what the Taliban promised when they threw out the Americans and within a very short time they rolled back on every single promise that they made and are now running one of the most repressive regimes in the world but apparently they do have the approval of Allah.

Big picture: Revolutions and revolutionaries are *never* good news for the people.
I don't doubt the Shar of Iran and his regime were at very best poor leaders, bad enough to have induced and fallen to a revolution. But look what replaced him; many years of possibly even worse. Eventually, maybe soon, Iran's current regime will fall ...but if it's to yet another revolution I grantee the next group of revolutionaries will be no better and the people will continue to suffer. The man who attempts change by violent means is not to be trusted, he is in it for himself only and only understands violent means.
Sadly as a group we are unthinking and short-sighted fools.
"It's really bad now and these people are promising radical change. That's got to be a good thing, right? How much worse can it be?"

Do Iranians want a parliamentary system where they elect a Prime Minister and Parliament, and can replace the PM? Or even a Constitutional Democracy similar to the US system? Or is the country so weak, only a dictator can lead the country? If the hosts know, I would love then to share their insight.

Iran has grown strong enough to defend itself independently, and no one can stand in its way.Iranian women may wear the hijab, but they are highly respected within Persian culture, often in ways that surpass even European standards. Iranian men deeply value and protect their wives, ensuring they are always cared for. Family comes first for most Persian men, and they prioritize their loved ones' well-being in every situation.

Whether I am a woman or not, or where I live, should not affect the nature of our professional communication. For your information, in Iranian culture, women hold a very high level of respect. In fact, the word "Iran" itself is deeply connected to the reverence of women, and our culture places great importance on the role of mothers. Sir Simon, I am an Iranian and I think you have definitely misunderstood this, thinking that Iranians did not want a revolution 10 years ago. Iranians have always wanted fundamental (revolutionary) change, but due to their conservative nature, they tried to achieve the desired result through simpler and less expensive ways first. This characteristic distinguishes Iranians from Arabs and many other nations who make rapid and violent changes. But over time, as the government in Iran has become more violent, the people have become more radical and determined to make fundamental changes. The future of this government is either collapse or a fundamental change, and this fundamental change will not be unlike collapse, because the similarity between the government and its people has decreased greatly and the commonalities between the people and their government have decreased to a minimum, and on the other hand, the economic situation in Iran is extremely unstable and uncontrollable. In fact, today the government and its supporters are in a very small minority, but they still resist fiercely because they have oil money and the money that Biden has been constantly injecting into them, and because they have weapons and 72 television and radio outlets.
