This song was originally called 'Dread', and then I got the artwork which is AMAZING btw. But it didn't quite fit the name of the song so I changed it to this :)
It was also inspired by 'In the Dark' by SVRGE (oh my god what a banger, genuinely such a crazy good song.) which is why it was called 'Dread' originally. I'm very happy with how this song turned out, but I think I shoulda made it more about the bass than the chords. So if I do something like this again, that's what I'll do!!

hkmori has come to really hate this song since it's blown up (if you look at their channel at time of writing you'll find their latest work is a vent piece that expresses their disdain for it.) Part of the reason is that they think it lacks the sort of emotion that they put into their other songs-to the point of feeling soulless. As someone who's listened to pretty much their entire discography and almost cried at times, I unfortunately have to agree with that to some degree, as I can tell it sounds different and lacks the emotional punch that their other music does.
But... What you've done here is inject your own emotion into the song. And by doing that, it's gained that power that the rest of hkmori's songs have. No wonder why I like this remix more than the original.
Yet... See, hkmori's songs are all quite dark, and convey this feeling of profound sadness-that slow burn of depression that tears you apart from the inside piece by piece. I feel some of that in this remix too, but then... Then the instrumental break at 1:22 fills me with a profound sense of hope. Not an upbeat one by any means, but a perhaps a feeling that maybe one day this suffering will be worth something.
And that, I think, is really beautiful. You've made it your own, but in a way that still honours the original and what it stands for. Massive props to you.

It is sad that hkmori really hates the original so much but I can see why especially looking at their other songs, that is something I kinda fear myself that a song I don't really care for blows up and does amazing despite me not liking it or putting any emotion into it. I still like the original, but I see why hkmori feels the way they feel. Thank you for the sweet comment.
