This game looks fun but it's ridiculous to pay $70 for a game that you can finish in 6 to 8 hours. Definitely going to wait till this drops of $20. Helldivers 2 on the other hand is only $40 and has over 100+ hours of gameplay if you want to unlock and do everything. Not to mention the gameplay loop is just more fun.
the game has a full campaign you can even play in coop, a pve mode with specific progression and classes and also a pvp mode where there's also classes and another progression system, yes there's hundreds of hours of gameplay if you want to unlock everything in SM2 for both pve and pvp a process which is far more rewarding than unlocking everything in HD2 (you actually feel like you're progressing in the endgame and getting powerful stuff and not just adding very minor bonuses), in terms of improvements to your equipment you have all the special perks of every class, all the weapons in every class along with their perks and in terms of skins you have all the armor parts and all the skins for each armor part with far more to come in the future (yes because WH40K actually has a very good lore to base itself upon), in HD2 it comes down to unlocking all the stratagems, the season passes and their ranks (there were only 2 at launch if you really want to get specific, btu even now all the seaon passes are paid ones) and the ship upgrades (which are pathetic except a few of the starter ones) and the skins all of which you realistically need to spend money on since they only made 1 free season pass along with that you could also say you need money to get the "paid" season passes even though by glitching you don't "need" to (yes the method to get super credits is a glitch that abuses the game's mechanics), progression in HD2 feels very unrewarding especially in the mid to late game, it's a substantial grind for very little reward, I have 98 hours in HD2, by hour 50 I unlocked everything that was actually useful the rest were just very minor ship upgrades or ranks for the season passes for weapons that suck/got nerfed, SM2 hits just the right spot where there is a lot of grind but it's not made ridiculous and hits just the sweet spot, there's also no microtransactions in SM2 at all as far as I know and the only planned paid things are certain skins that'll come in the future And let's be real HD2's gameplay is very repetitive especially at launch where you were pretty much always on a few variations of the same few maps, if you're saying SM2 is very reptitive then I can understand it's a valid criticism but you cannot claim HD2 is less repetitive that's just incredibly disingenuous, besides the gameplay itself of HD2 is fundamentally dogsh** : if you want to play on any difficulty that doesn't make you a p**sy (or actually gets you samples which is the only reason to keep playing) you're either facing off against an un-ending horde of enemies which ragdoll you around like crazy with nothing you can do and which gets even more agressive the more you engage or you play the cheap yet most efficient way to get samples and complete mission objectives which is to play it stealthily (wow not shooting is the most effective way to play your horde shooter, great gameplay), in SM2 you actually feel powerful and you can get through hordes the way you want to, it's far from easy either you're slashing through hordes but you also need to pay attention to your surroundings and not get completely surrounded or be unable to react when a big tyranid comes, it can get really difficult on the higher difficulties yet there's no meta unlike in HD2 where there's a clear difference where most weapons are totally useless and a few ones are good but get nerfed, besides assault being a bit weaker in pve than the other classes every class is balanced and fills a distinct playstyle you can but aren't forced to adopt not to mention that SM2 has very in depth customization (not just "change outfit and change helmet"), great scenery, good graphics, great sound design, great music and great voice acting oh yes and it also has a seomwhat in depth melee systems with a few heavily customizable and upgradable weapons to fit the plastyle you want to focus more on along with combos you can make using them, I have over 25 hours in and I main bulwark, I am far from having fully upgraded it or the melee weapon I use with it and that's pretty much the only class I've been using for pve since launch, after I'm done I can still grind the other classes. HD2 was and still is the same price than SM2, if we compare at launch SM2 is infintely superior in every way, if we compare now SM2 clearly has less content (most notably it needs pve maps) but it still outclasses HD2 in ways no amounts of content added to HD2 can fix, if SM2 at 60$ is considered not worth it then no game in a very long time is worth it, yes it absolutely is worth it
