This is deffo the best comparison video I've seen, blind testing is such a good idea for a channel and you tick every box in terms of what you're comparing/who's comparing it. Hope you guys blow up and get the recognition you deserve 🙌

Great video, I'm going with the XM3. FYI, I would work on your mic volume, either lower the music or raise the volume on the mics. I'm listening on headphones and the music is too loud compared to your voices (IMO).
Great vid BTW. You need to try those Sony's with the cable and high Def sound ie turn up your PC's sound settings to highest studio res and download a few flac songs and see just how hifi both these are without nc turned on and real quality going in them.
I’ve tried both xm3 and xm4, the bass on xm3 is stronger and more physical and more enjoyable when watching TH-cam or movies, I wish Sony can add more bass to xm4 via firmware update 🙂

It's cool that they blind folded them, but it was silly for them to tell them 'number 1' or number 2. Because that can easily introduce confirmation bias. So if number 1 sounded the best for the first test, they might expect number 1 to sound better on the next song. They should have kept it completely blind. You can tell because they kept asking 'is this number 1? Or number 2?' they're trying to get their thoughts straight. Instead of just discerning which sounds better.
Yong here. Valid point. We mention number 1 or 2 for the viewer's sake or else you would just hear us say this is better or that is better the entire video and everyone including us would be confused 😂

i'm wondering... as the M3 doesnt have a option to connect to different devices at the same time, can you still connect to both an ipad and android phone and switch easily ? i assume the simultanious option only means you can have sound coming in form bot devices at the same time ? i hope you'll reply soon, i want to order one today ;) Thanx !
Great question. Dan here - So switching is done easily, as in it's really clear and easy to do, but it's not fast. You have to either turn off the headphone and turn it back on in pairing mode and go into the device you want to pair to and pair that way or you have to manually disconnect the XM3 in the settings of the previous device and go into the settings menu and connect to the headphones. It's easy, but takes a good chunk of time. Multi pairing does not mean sound comes out from both devices - then you'd have a crazy garbled mess of audio! It means that your headphones can detect which device is playing audio and will auto switch to that device. For example, if you've got it paired to your laptop, but then your phone starts ringing, it'll pause playing sound from your laptop and play your phones ringtone. It's really quite awesome! Hope this helps!!

Dan here again - I use mine to edit videos and I edited this and all the videos you see on my other channel, Ahnestly. It's fine. Theres an occasional latency slip, but it's really not bad.
9:40 I listen to Boys II Men more than EDM, but the point of EDM IS the bass, so I have to pick 1, and it's not because I'm biased and just replaced my XM4.

Overrated product. Sony isn't the same brand anymore. I had the XM3 for few months and they gave me so much hard time. They kept breaking up. I had to do the factory reset maybe 5 - 6 times until even that couldn't turn them on anymore. Kicked them in the bin with pleasure and I bought Bose Quite control ll. Better headphones. Never again Sony
Dave here. Although we didn't review techno, we did review EDM, and I would say based on the similarities between those two genres, I'd personally go with the xm3. The bottom end was thicker and the kicks hit a little harder which is what I'm looking for in this type of genre

@@Aremdaunnabi you get the ear detection and when someone talks it mutes it so you can hear them better. Not sure if that's worth the extra cost? But for me it wasn't enough. Sound quality on the xm3 ate already superior and ANC is the best. For something that incremental and it looks exactly the same I'd pass.

Charles here... I think it's definitely worth the upgrade. We didn't do a direct comparison between the XM2s and XM4s but given the improvement from the 3s to the 4s, I'm sure it will be a definite upgrade from the 2s.

Charles here. Value is very subjective which you can tell in this video where we were split on the results. I think it depends on who you ask but personally I would lean towards the XM4.
Shouldn't have told them which number they're listening to. Completely invalidates the test, because it just confirms their suspicions, and leads to confirmation bias

I realize they don't know which model they're listening to, but the fact that you gave each model their own unique name, in this case ,number 1 and 2. It gives them the opportunity to confirm things they either believe, or expect to hear, even at an unconscious level. It becomes almost impossible to be truly objective. Also if you had done another test, like tell them you were switching between 1 and 2 but actually just gave them the same headphones twice, it would demonstrate how suspectable we are to influence through suggestion. Just a thought 🙂 perhaps for your future vids, consider not labeling each one, so the findings are truly objective.

The XM4 has a bump around the mid-treble region that makes the voice more forward, elevated, and muddy sounding. Over exaggerated mid-trouble.
I legit got one of the XM3 for 150 USD. The XM4 was 100 USD extra so I'm just going to get the XM3

The best sound without EQ is XM4 no doubt. But, if you compare XM3 with EQ "Surround" feature, XM3 will be the winner actually.

I think the difference is, that on MX3 when you select LDAC, the EQ doesn't work, but the EQ still works on XM4 on LDAC. That makes a huge difference
Which would be better for Android?
one big drawback is the xm3 has VPT for home surround replacement in apartments. To this day both the xm4 and xm5 do not have this.

Charles here... I think it's definitely worth the upgrade. We didn't do a direct comparison between the XM2s and XM4s but given the improvement from the 3s to the 4s, I'm sure it will be a definite upgrade from the 2s.

To summarize, for those who know little English, which one is better 1000xm3 or 1000xm4 should be preferred, is there any difference or value for listening to music?
Charles here. Value is very subjective which you can tell in this video where we were split on the results. I think it depends on who you ask but personally I would lean towards the XM4.
So, No2 is cleaner but No1 is cleaner. Vocals are better with No1 but vocals are better with No2... I got it right , right?

I had booked xm4 but now I want to cancel and go for xm3
Shouldn't have told them which number they're listening to. Completely invalidates the test, because it just confirms their suspicions, and leads to confirmation bias
Dan here - what would their suspicions be? They feel exactly the same and they didn’t know which headphones they were testing
@@TheBlindGuyshey! Great vids BTW. Watched the whole thing. I realize they don't know which model they're listening to, but the fact that you gave each model their own unique name, in this case ,number 1 and 2. It gives them the opportunity to confirm things they either believe, or expect to hear, even at an unconscious level. It becomes almost impossible to be truly objective. Also if you had done another test, like tell them you were switching between 1 and 2 but actually just gave them the same headphones twice, it would demonstrate how suspectable we are to influence through suggestion. Just a thought 🙂 perhaps for your future vids, consider not labeling each one, so the findings are truly objective.
