    Awesome. Nostalgia overload. Brilliant layout. Love that bar, the jukebox, pacman fever. Probably my favorite feature is that Pepsi machine in the hallway! Cool arcade.

    WOW! This is AMAZING!
    You know when I was younger I thought I was so weird for being obsessed with arcade machines + claw games like I was the only person in the world. I have my own house now living by myself, and while I have about 7 or 8 different machines scattered throughout my house, it's NOTHING compared to this! Amazing! Makes me want to fill my house up with even more stuff now!!! :D

      Matt3756 There's plenty of us out there. :) You'll fill the house (double car garagecade in my case 6 years ago), then eventually move to a bigger one. That's what happened to me.

    This is amazing...instant smile. In my city of Ottawa, there is a retro arcade called house of targ. Vintage games, pinball, perogies and live bands. Now this place opened up maybe six months ago and it's packed every night. I figure people need places like this again....love this...add a jam space and it'd be perfect. Cheers

    WOW that's fantastic. Brilliant job. That's must have have taken some commitment to put that together. I wouldn't want to leave if I was there. Being in my early 40's now I remember a lot of those, and although I'm biased, I think older games are still the best! Well done mate

    • @thebasementarcade
      @thebasementarcade  9 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Thank you. I'm biased too, but then again being in our early 40's that was our playground now, wasn't it.

  • @CarlosAlberto-hb1fh

    This is heaven.. I can almost picture a lot of kids running around those machines.. The song fits perfectly too.. Awesome trip to the past.. Congrats on your beautiful playground sir!

    Beautiful set-up my man, SUPER CLEAN! I really appreciate 70's, 80's, and 90's culture and the games/machines/colors all in this video epitomize those decades. Realizing that these will never be made again, it is really cool to see this much in one basement! This is truly a retro hidden gem. I was born in 1992 and I wish I would've been around a little earlier!

    INSANE!
    Thanks to emulators and retro enthusiasts, the 1980s will never die!
    I've heard it said more than once, that the trick to nostalgia, is that we remember the good and focus on it. Also, as kids of the 1980s, we can identify with this technology being state of the art during those years. Being in one of these rooms (or just with me viewing this just now), can reignite the feelings and emotion associated with stuff of that time period.
    I have a decades-old cabinet record player that no longer works. I'd like to pay some enthusiast to gut out the antiquated parts (keep the original knobs, but just gut them out internally), and then use new parts, so that it can play vinyl albums again!

    • @thebasementarcade
      @thebasementarcade  10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you for the comments. It might be worth looking into trying to fix your record player. I bought my 1978 jukebox (plays 45's) broken without knowing anything on how to fix them and the mechanics of them. I managed to research forums and eventually fixed every problem on it an even did a few upgrades. Just something to keep in mind.

      *****
      Whoa! You've got more patience than I do!!
      I admit that I know nothing about old vinyl players, but to avoid ruining old vinyls with a slip of the hand on the newly restored needle and turntable, how difficult would it be to find someone capable of having a laser read the grooves of the vinyl and play it like that?? I'd HATE to have the damned thing resurrected, only to slip one millimeter when handling an album, and ruin the damned vinyl... (?????)

    First awesome, Man Cave meets arcade in a era that can;t be meet anymore. Also amazing skill's fixing those arcade machines, just takes myself back seeing those all lit up in the vid on the tube. When i was younger you would dream about those pixel graphics and wonder where they would take you playing the game and think about the movie tron you had seen in the 80's, you wondered if they were all running around and giving them the last chance for there bytes. Thanks for the memories, I take my hat of to you Sir, I live in Brisvegas Australia but wish you were my neighbour.. Awesome :) :) :) :)

    Great arcade! I want to do my basement like that. A bar, foosball, air hockey, and a jukebox. But instead of all the video games, I'll just use my one Mame arcade game with 7,000 games on it. More room for a dance floor! ♡

    a great collection and a fantastic game room!
    i wish i had the time, $$$ and room for such a place, lol. if i did, i'd try to track down some of my personal favourites as a kid, throw in some pretty old arcade games like 'haunted house', and pay homage to the grand-daddies like 'asteroids' and 'space invaders.'

Kudos for all the work you've put into the games + the bar. I have begun repair / build work on my own first machines. Now I just need to find a massive basement too...

    I love how you have your classic Nintendo games lined up, then your Bally/Midway, then Williams, the Atari!!! Wish you had more room cause there's still some classics missing. Defender, Stargate & Bubbles from Williams. Dig Dug, Kangaroo, Battlezone, Centapede & Astroids Deluxe from Atari. Too many to mention from Bally/Midway (PAC Man Jr., Space Invaders, Gorf, Wizard Of Wor, Satan's Hollow, Blue Print, etc.). Than just various other classics like Frogger, Crazy Climber, Jungle Hunt, Congo Bongo, Elevator Action, etc. Incredible job on what you got though!!!! Nintendo almost looks compete!! Might be one or two obscure ones missing from that. It is a dream arcade though!! I know I could spend hours in there!!

      +1982ninjamonkey I have a Mame cabinet in the other room not in the arcade. I pulled it out long ago when I ran out of space. Its there when I need to play or test a game. :) Mame was actually my first cabinet which took me on this journey.

    I really miss arcades in the US... even shitty games were fun as hell to play there. I love all the external controls like aiming a gun or using a wheel + pedals + those levers. Console gaming is great today though arcades were just so much more social and fun with friends. Even those dancing games or fighting games were more fun in arcades. Nintendo has been trying to bring some of that back to homes with the wii and wii u but its just not the same. My top reason for why I want to frequently visit japan in the future as I hear theyre still huge in arcades. Im 19 btw so i come from a different time but man are arcades great.

      There was definitely a social aspect as well as the physical experience of an arcade atmosphere and unique/custom controls. There was also something about walking up and watching a complete stranger play a game with expertise, or having several individuals you never met before watch you play. For that moment you were your own superstar with an audience. I do miss it, which is why I've recreated the experience and have frequent game day events :)

    Awesome setup!!! Dunno why people are hating on this video and so quick to referrence the "electricity bill". The person who owns these toys obviously pays his electricty bill (LoL). All those haters that cannot afford their electric bills, keep your negative comments to yourselves.

    I'm so jealous of the Simpsons arcade machine! In the 90's that was the go to game! I didn't even know the NES Super Mario Bros. had an arcade machine. Also the Punch Out machine is pretty cool. You should get a fighting game for your collection. Overall very impressive.

      The Mario Bros arcade came before the NES version. It's slightly harder and missing the warps so no cheating :) After all, they were after your quarters.
