No amount of nerfing/quests/guides will make me like that boss. I only endured it to get Mithrala. Unless they add some crazy broken Ninja 2.0-kind of champion to the reward pool, I'm not touching that snake again. Still, thanks for the guide. I'm sure it will be a great help for those who actually enjoy Hydra but are struggling.
Feel you on that. If they removed the need for 18 champs, improved the drops to include shards and books, and eliminated the RNG on the fight then I would be okay with the boss.
its harder content for whale type players so they dont get bored im FTP 1 year but im making real progress in there, once you get the hang of it an build a team that can survive 40+ turns you will start enjoying it
@@robertschweikl8827 I can survive till the heads start eating my champs non-stop, can decapitate the whole bunch of them (only on easy mode, ofc) , but I still don't enjoy it, it's still too much effort, specially since I can't auto it effectively. The main problem with Hydra for ftp/low spenders who haven't been playing for years is not just the amount of job specific maxed champions you need for three teams, but also the fact that 99.99% of those champions need to be fully booked to be effective in Hydra lol. Then factor in that in most cases it seems champs need to be built differently with masteries/artifacts than the rest of the game - more expense swapping gear in and out each time. The only time I hit Hydra is when the advanced quest pops up, then throw a group of champs together, set it to auto and accept the 40k damage run. Done, dusted and forgotten for another few days 🤔🤣. Great video for Hydra strategy though, might revisit it in 2023 sometime 👍 Edit: seems I am not alone - the Telerian Summer Trials page shows that 758,033 keys have been used of the 4,500,000 target lol. That compares to almost 10mil of the 40mil target being reached for Demon Lord
@@Kamiyodesuyo probably lol...the simple fact is that Hydra is so unrewarding for ftp/low spenders that I literally just click champs to fill the spots (whoever they are) and hit go. It's the only aspect of the game where I've found that the quest reward gives you more than you get from the activity 🤣. Day 140 and getting Grandmaster chest on Nightmare CB, but no chance of any reward from Hydra - so why invest the time/effort outside of the quest?
The best hydra boss introduction with no doubt ! I’ve watched several Hydra videos of other CC but Ash did this with flying colors and get to the bottom of it. That Star Wars T-shirt tho? Invisible power S Tier 🤣🤣
Great vid Ash! #1 thing i gathered from this is you need SPECIFIC hydra only champs (basically champs you are not using in other parts of the game). I dont mind this as I have a lot of champs I just never use. I think I'll max out 1 team and go from there with the spare champs I have

I think the rewards for content like hydra is really hard to balance. The easiest version of hydra is one of if not the most difficult boss in the game. The vast majority of the playerbase can't even get the lowest chest on normal. If the rewards were overtuned it becomes this cycle of only feeding the rich. I think the whole boss needs to be rebalanced. Players early on should be able to fight hydra and still get something from it. it feels like a cliff to me. With normal clan boss there are these stairs, and they get pretty steep towards the end but you are always able to keep going up. Hydra is just a sheer cliff. Until you are good enough to just reach up to the top there is no way for you to start making progress. Every other part of the game, even doom tower, you can start taking on within the first month of playing. The rewards are pretty garbage but you can start fighting them and work your way up. Hydra is the only one where there is no reasonable starting point.
The purpose of hyrda is to give krakens something to do so they dont quit the game. There is no other reason. Plarium wants your money and nothing else.

Hey Ash, really enjoy the content. There's a TH-camr that does raid content that I've never seen in a collab with any other channel despite having over 10k subs. His name is Soda dragon. Would live to see a video with you guys together.
This guide made a lot of sense. A lot of the other videos were complicated and made me turn away from Hydra for a while cause I was like "yeesh, I came here to play a game, not to do physics"
I struggled with hydra as a new to end game. The best tip was someone who is a slow boy with high res and the most buffs and build a all aoe champ in taunt set. After that it's easy I have 4 early game players in my clan working towards one keys on normal full auto.
For me Wythir is just a real unit in Hydra, AoE Leech A1, Cleanse and huge heal on A3 and increase defense on all with more heal and even mor continious heals on everybody with every thing she does
I'm not trying to be a smart ass but you only told us which champions we're good to use. Please could you possibly walk us through the fight against the HYDRA and explain how and what as you go?? I'm ftp but I do have NINJA, Scicia and Drexthar. . . . . . The problem is that if I can get the HP burn on ALL the heads, every time the damage ticks I get attacked, well I've been getting 2,000,000. So I'm at least getting my chest on my accounts but I am having to wait til the poison cloud is gone. Even when I manage to place block buffs the one HYDRA head removes it. I have been disabling the auto function and that's when I was finally able to get a chest the last 6-7 times. PLEASE HELP!!!!!!! CAN you walk us through the battle on normal....... I wish they would have a EASY mode, I want Mythralla sooooo bad. TY Ash!! P.S. I WAS DOING OKAY UNTIL THEY NERFED BRIMSTONE!!!! DAMN IT, COME ON PLARIUM.
I agree with so many points in this video lol. Uugo is so freaking good man. I used to like her but with Hydra added she has become S+ tier. When it first came out, I hated Hydra but I am starting to enjoy it actually. Granted I am at a point where everything else is auto aside from pushing hard DT. Great vid as usual. I have yet to even attempt to put a Hydra team together yet. BTW, I hope you get your AC fixed soon..... looked like you were melting! ha ha
I have actually been moving away from block buffs for hydra. If you have a burner and a mischief tank, you really don't need block buffs anymore. You still need to find a way to remove inc attack from wrath but there are a lot of champs that can reduce buff duration that are already good for hydra. ie, geo, godseeker, brogni, lydia (with single target block buffs)

After getting Mithrala, you lose 1 reward slot in every chest because her fragments are not replaced by anything. That sucks Additionally, Hydra fights may be very long : around 45 mins per fight if you have a good team + the reloads you may have to do + 99.9% of players can't Auto these fights. It's a lot of time investment even if Hydra resets are weekly. Protection and Stone Skin sets are cool but Hydra rewards are still poor, very poor when you consider how much time it takes to fight it.
lol i have a really hard time setting up teams for normal stuff never mind hydra "never even done over 500k" I just put what ever together just to get the missions done.
A little off-topic, but need your input on this: Do you think "10X chance" is a misleading name for an event as it pertains to a casual player? Some people seem to think it's common knowledge, I think the true odds are cleverly veiled behind the fine print and math that a casual player should not have to go through to realize that the real odds are miniscule. Would like to hear from casual players and noobs, when you see "10X chance to pull Cupidus", what do you expect your odds of pulling Cupidus to be?
@Miggel Carrera Thank you. I am familiar with the odds, I usually either save for 2x or a guaranteed champion events, and I keep track of my mercy counter in case of 1+1 Leggo or 10X event. But I have a problem with what it looks like to casual players. At the end of the day, people feel decieved, and it's not good for the game in the long run. And sadly, this is not the only thing that feels like predatory advertisement. I want the game to last long, not become a cash cow before it even reached its potential.
the starting point for getting any leggo is 0.5% per Ancient pull, 6% per Sacred pull - that's individual chance per shard not cumulative that grows over time lol. Then divide that 0.5% or 6% by roughly 150-160 (amount of leggos you can actually summon by shards) to calculate your chance of getting the individual champ you are chasing when it is not a 10x event (roughly 0.003333% for Ancients). When the 10x is on you get a 0.5% chance per Ancient shard to multiply that 0.003333% chance by 10, that the single champ you want will appear before the 150-160 competing leggos that make up the rest of the pool. So short answer is I don't pull shards during 10x events unless I am pulling them for some other event as well lol.
@@mattgibson6144 I know how the odds work, Matt. I do the same thing, I only pull 10X if I'm guaranteed a Legendary due to mercy counter or if it coincides with another event. However, I had to learn about those odds by reading deeper into the explanation. I imagine you did, as well. However, in my experience, to a casual player, a 10X chance means all other legendaries are 0.5% while that specific legendary is 5%. Now we can all sit here and mock "the unenlightened" because we read the fine print and they didn't, and laugh at the stories of a poor sap who thought if he spent enough money, he'd for sure get the champion he wanted, but I maintain that such business practices are not good for the business long term. All I wanted is to inform those who are confused. If you know about the odds, good for you, I'm not trying to teach y'all anything. But when someone delegates the responsibility to know those odds to those who don't read up on every bit of text in the game, it sounds a lot like "you deserve to lose money for not reading the fine print".
I like the rewards. I like how you can farm mithrala in give or take 30 weeks with just a clan that can finish the boss on normal difficulty, I also like how good mithrala is for hydra. I hate the resistance required to beat this boss by doing a full auto run (which would make a lot more people enjoy it). 300 resistance and 200 accuracy is just too damn much. Even with raf matab its a struggle to get that kind of accuracy without having your great halls filled.
Thank you for this video, gonna shoot for my first chest this week! only have a hand full of champs to use so doubt its gonna go well lmao but its a start. Prob gonna put doompriest to the test
With one of the recent patchets, the "Cursed" armor set bonus changed from heal reduction to placing Hex. Would using this set provide some viability to other champions regarding the Head of Mischief?
I like hydra clan boss too, they just need to cut down on the amount of time that it takes to play. That said the most beastly toon for hydra is Master Butcher. He's my #2 pick for Bommal and my #1 pick for Hydra. He beat out warchief because of his affinity. One day Warchief was resisted 4 times in a row, so i replaced his ass. Anyone who can keep the dispel head taunted solo 100% of the time is worth gearing up.
I feel the whole extension of de/buff masteries has become a bit of a rule of thumb in general for me since I hit the LV20+ dungeons on bosses, my builds that don't have them feel really underwhelming- particularly buffers.
Arbiter relentless + support speed/heal and she crazy. She takes extra turns if she revives so... it stacks amazing. It can get you out of so many situations, everywhere.
Yesterday I had uugo do her revive all in hydra. First time it ever happened but it was funny as I was thinking I am screwed her with just uugo left and still 1m short of the next level chest....I glanced away from my phone for a second and when I looked back I had all 6 team members back. Hahaha, I was thinking how on earth did that happen. Then I remembered her special skill!!
Given how much Decreased Speed, and Debuffs in general are essential to Hydra and the Number of Heads and your love of Kantra on this boss, have you considered a Judge as a more F2P Friendly option that might work out nicely and be a bit more accessiable to folks?
Liked it, as I also like hydra more than others in my clan. Having said that, many of your recommendations only really work on normal or hard hydra and definitely not on brutal and nm. If you stated somewhere that your point of view is lower difficulty then ok, otherwise your list of champs is sometimes a bit lackluster imo.
I’m at such a weird spot in the game no clan and having a hard time with fire night not really sure what champions to use I feel like I have a lot but nothing to good
You forgot a few absolute S-tier hydra champions like Shamrock, Skull-lord or Nekmo Thaar. And there are a few underrated champions that could be highlighted with their Mischief tanking role like Oboro or Beardall
Ash you need to show more rare champions in videos like this one. I say this because I don’t have many legendary and I’m am able to battle hydra but not much luck.
i use norog in my normal rotation and i agree, he's amazing as an alternative to Uugo if you don't have 2-3 Uugo's. If you have 2-3 Uugo's... then maybe just do that.
Could you do a guide on Mother Cybele and how you built her and how you build a hydra team around her? You say she’s sooooo good but I’m not impressed still since fusing her
I'd like to see more examining of which boss does what. I just hit auto and if they eat a guy attack that one with the green bar, I have no idea which boss is which. It's a terrible instance/raid.
Rewards need a buff in most areas of this game,it would be cool if we could trade rewards for other rewards that we could use nothing crazy but like maybe 10 books for a shard depending on its rarity of xp brews for double xp idk something along those lines.and can we get some new god like in uncommons
I never understand how to know all the details from champs to each piece armor but I just can't for some reason. I think I have some pretty ok champs but I dont understand how people do it. i watch so many people to try learning like you, hades, skratch, i watched a vid from gameleap, and i just dont know nothing. my hydra team does 1.2m most of the time and my 2nd and 3rd team dont do more than 500k
I don't have any of those champions so I have yet to even try hydra. Okay I do have the 4 free to play but I don't think they can handle it by themselves.
For Hex I like Mickinachi. He might not have been released as a champion by the time to first released this video. For Decrease SPD I like Sniktraak, Countess Lix, Lady Kimi and Royal Guard For Nukers - I prefer single-target damage dealers, as to not lose out on damage mitigation from AOE hits. I like Konstanine the Dayborn and Fennax For healers I agree with your list but.......My favorite healer in the game is Wythir the Crowned. She is a beast, amazing healer for Hydra Clan Boss. I think Hydra is a bit over-turned still, myself. I am late game and only do 2 keys in Hydra. I am looking to build my Husk and Royal Guard next for Hydra - to try to hit Brutal - Hydra. The rewards for Hydra and Hydra Clash are lacking a bit. Where are the skill tomes? Where are the 5-star chickens? Where are the Void and Sacred shards? More silver would be nice also. Thank you for the video.
I have no thoughts about the rewards on hydra because I have never gotten a single chest. I watch all these hydra videos, but apparently, I'm just not getting the jist. I am building geo and rector but I am not cc class getting books tossed at me. I've said this before and stick to it, take over my acct and see if you can build a team that gets even a novice drop.
Hey Ash? Can you do an account takeover for me on Normal 120 Eternal Dragon. Right now I can only get him to half health and he always seems to eat one of the brown minions gaining his health back and completely overwhelming my team after that
My husband can get 50 million on the Normal Hydra. I can barely get over 1 million. I do well in every other area of the game. But I just don't have the crabby paddy formula yet I guess. I still really appreciate the game, though. It's a beautiful game with lots of really cool looking champions and enemies. I can't think of a better game I can play on my phone. This takes a lot of effort to make the game fun and being creative with the characters and bosses. It's a great game despite flaws. Gotta be forgiving with stuff like this. They will balance it out and no matter what, they can't make everyone happy all the time.
It's def a pain but a great challenge as well. Can't get a one key max chest on the lowest 3 difficulties but it's a good source of gear but after mithrala is unlocked it's pretty meh. Frustrating with little reward

the starting point for getting any leggo is 0.5% per Ancient pull, 6% per Sacred pull - that's individual chance per shard not cumulative that grows over time lol.
Ash, why do you speed up the playback of your videos from how fast they were recorded?
my favorite part of this content is discovering champs that are otherwise not used.
I suck at Hydra. Thank you so much for this great video!
Thank you for this video, gonna shoot for my first chest this week! only have a hand full of champs to use so doubt its gonna go well lmao but its a start. Prob gonna put doompriest to the test
Thanks these hints are helping. I got 7 blue shards ready for next extra event. spent my gems.
1st.. love your content.. getting paid but still hold true and honest.
2nd.. Unless I missed it. U forgot my boy krisk..
Hello, thanks for your videos. Did you go on attack for Riho masteries? Thank you
This is the best and most useful video out there thank you so much
I feel the whole extension of de/buff masteries has become a bit of a rule of thumb in general for me since I hit the LV20+ dungeons on bosses, my builds that don't have them feel really underwhelming- particularly buffers.
Just tryna support since I know a lot of effort went into this
Tyrant the MVP - HP lead, tank, solo Spider and IGolem, Def up + ally protect + 3 turn burns AoE... what do you need more. :)
Arbiter relentless + support speed/heal and she crazy. She takes extra turns if she revives so... it stacks amazing. It can get you out of so many situations, everywhere.
You forgot my fav reviver/healer/cleanser Ash, Raglin is really solid.
Damn yo your Ma Shallad is a beast! So much def and hp alongside damage, jeesh
What do you think of putting ultimate death knight in salwart gear ash
Ash I don't have good reflect pieces for my kantra, maybe could I use frenzy or relentless instead?
DOOMPRIEST! Not a bad option as a debuffer/healer...and buffer, too. And you don't have to book her, either.
I love it when ash forgets not to wear green
Great vid would love more hydra vids no enough info around
16:35 killed me.🤣🤣
I'd LOVE shards in Hydra rewards or at least shards in the clan shop at a level where EVERY clan get them.
Given how much Decreased Speed, and Debuffs in general are essential to Hydra and the Number of Heads and your love of Kantra on this boss, have you considered a Judge as a more F2P Friendly option that might work out nicely and be a bit more accessiable to folks?
Great video man very informative covered a lot you are starting to sound like an auctioneer 😆 🤣 but you do it 👍
Liked it, as I also like hydra more than others in my clan. Having said that, many of your recommendations only really work on normal or hard hydra and definitely not on brutal and nm. If you stated somewhere that your point of view is lower difficulty then ok, otherwise your list of champs is sometimes a bit lackluster imo.
ash love your vids its a shame you can't do DWJ events or do twitch i can understand your busy :)
I’m at such a weird spot in the game no clan and having a hard time with fire night not really sure what champions to use I feel like I have a lot but nothing to good
Live your content ash...
Love you too father
Hey ash. Have you ever thought about Having a meet up or something so fans can meet you?
no mention of nemko for inc/dec speed?
Would you run Geomancer over sinesha?
If aoe provoke is up 100% is it necessary to have a hex person on the team?
You forgot a few absolute S-tier hydra champions like Shamrock, Skull-lord or Nekmo Thaar. And there are a few underrated champions that could be highlighted with their Mischief tanking role like Oboro or Beardall
i am going to try roxam for the mishcief tank.
@@notsofastahole Wow, great idea. Hope it works well!
Cardiel is top tier for healing and cleansing, I know u don’t have him but you gotta show some love for him!
Could you do a guide on Mother Cybele and how you built her and how you build a hydra team around her? You say she’s sooooo good but I’m not impressed still since fusing her
My man, how often you hit the gym....looking beast!
I'd like to see more examining of which boss does what. I just hit auto and if they eat a guy attack that one with the green bar, I have no idea which boss is which. It's a terrible instance/raid.
Angar does not have a provoke on his a1. He has an extra hit if the target is under a provoke
How did you get geo to do that damage with no hex?
Yes add rewards..it take hours too do a key..and we have too build all those champs
Rewards need a buff in most areas of this game,it would be cool if we could trade rewards for other rewards that we could use nothing crazy but like maybe 10 books for a shard depending on its rarity of xp brews for double xp idk something along those lines.and can we get some new god like in uncommons
You left out my 2 mvp's! Cardiel and siphi ! They carry my team hard . Oh and doompriest to deal with the fear head 🤣
I've been wondering this for a while, my void champions are getting weak hits in the hydra clan boss, is there a reason why that is?
Its the poison cloud buff from one of the heads thats why u need block buffs
Rewards in general makes sense
No talk of Raglin??? Revive, Heal, Remove Debuffs, 15% turn meter fill AND 33% defense in all battles Aura!!!
Raglin is so underrated
I never understand how to know all the details from champs to each piece armor but I just can't for some reason. I think I have some pretty ok champs but I dont understand how people do it. i watch so many people to try learning like you, hades, skratch, i watched a vid from gameleap, and i just dont know nothing. my hydra team does 1.2m most of the time and my 2nd and 3rd team dont do more than 500k
I wonder if psylar good or to squishy for hydra
I don't have any of those champions so I have yet to even try hydra. Okay I do have the 4 free to play but I don't think they can handle it by themselves.
Like start with rares and common-epics that anyone can use!
For Hex I like Mickinachi. He might not have been released as a champion by the time to first released this video.
For Decrease SPD I like Sniktraak, Countess Lix, Lady Kimi and Royal Guard
For Nukers - I prefer single-target damage dealers, as to not lose out on damage mitigation from AOE hits. I like Konstanine the Dayborn and Fennax
For healers I agree with your list but.......My favorite healer in the game is Wythir the Crowned.
Right now I can only get him to half health and he always seems to eat one of the brown minions gaining his health back and completely overwhelming my team after that
Ash I don't play hydra since my champs are not made for hydra but I want at one point to be able to do it since mythrala is amazing
This is where they should add in missing frags for past fragment events
My husband can get 50 million on the Normal Hydra. I can barely get over 1 million. I do well in every other area of the game. But I just don't have the crabby paddy formula yet I guess. I still really appreciate the game, though. It's a beautiful game with lots of really cool looking champions and enemies. I can't think of a better game I can play on my phone. This takes a lot of effort to make the game fun and being creative with the characters and bosses. It's a great game despite flaws. Gotta be forgiving with stuff like this. They will balance it out and no matter what, they can't make everyone happy all the time.
Hydra with midgame champs?
thanks Ash
Is there any benefit to running 2x Inquisitor Shamael? Would Acolyte be any good for Hydra? EDIT - LMAO at the pic of Bulwark. wtff
I just got my PB on Hydra hard almost 46mil.
It's def a pain but a great challenge as well. Can't get a one key max chest on the lowest 3 difficulties but it's a good source of gear but after mithrala is unlocked it's pretty meh. Frustrating with little reward
