Josh Smith and Kirk Fletcher performed a free show and invited their friends Matt Schofield, Eric Gales and JD Simo to play on various songs. The lighting was less than ideal and the vocals were very low in the mix, but to hear 5 of the best blues guitarists in the world playing together was an incredible experience. This free show occurred at a small bar called Fishtails in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida and took place the night before the Keeping The Blues Alive Cruise.

Josh Smith is the guy that would have been playing with Miles Davis.
Haven't heard much of Fletcher before but I love his clean no nonsense style. Perfect blues guitarist. Gales on the other hand - - - ??????? What a showman!

That lil wing solo by eric gales is one of the best solos ever, wonder why he wasnt standing up
He was using Matt Schofield's guitar and the strap was in the wrong place since he's a left handed player and Matt's is a right handed guiatr so he wasn't using the strap and just sat and played.

eric johnson was such a big influence on alot of guitarist with his unique playing and you can hear it in eric gales playing.
I am sure these are all GREAT guitar players, but I don't enjoy it when all these flashy jazz runs are put in the solo's. I enjoy simple blues in the vain of the late great Mr B.B King.

@31:50 he works up to an E-minor variant. Does anyone know which chords he plays? He slides up, so I assume it's the same chord before he hits that E-minor.

boogie woogie is a type of blues
it did start when atists feelt free to EVOLVE music. Imagine a lot of people whould have commented in a even worse way just right before your favorite style of bluesmusic was created for the first time. Your favorite stile of blues simply wouldn't EXIST. So my point of view is: you are always free to PERSONAL comment on anything. But NEVER judge in a general way like you did in your above comment. Enjoy your favorite blues maybe it makes you more satisfied to let co-exist other musicstyles.

It was an impromptu gig at a tiny bar that didn't have a proper sound system so unfortunately the mix is not good.
Why do so many blues players have trouble trading 4 bar phrases? I don't get it as talented as all of these guys are...
Too many guitars. Their all great but there's just too many.

Sorry Josh and Kirk, but in my humble opinion, Eric is WAY BETTER player -with all my respect for you- and I'm not saying that you´re not good, it´s just that you can see and feel the passion that Eric has. Just saying. Peace and good work Eric, Keep on playing man, and may God be with you.
