    I just have to say feeling suicidal is not cowardly, its a response to something so horrendously traumatic. You did the right thing in letting the kids make their own decision to reach out, forcing something on them is never going to work. Especially when it involves going against everything they believe.

    This was such a unique video. It seems like most of your other guests seem so happy after leaving the FLDS. The trauma and damage is so evident in this dear man. It’s important to see that this organization destroys lives irrevocably in some ways. We should all have hope, but there is significant damage that may never be healed from. This was an important interview

    Good luck, Isaac. I like to hope your book will find its way to your daughter and to where the rest of the still-believing live. Maybe at least one person would be daring enough to read it. At least it will always exist. One day your daughter will have the written record of how much you always loved your family, and it will be a deep comfort to her and to your grandchildren. You have done an amazing thing.

    I’m not not a blind enthusiast of any religion or government, but the federal government went to Texas and saved many women and children from years of trauma under Jeffs. I feel bad for his distress, but it would be nice to hear an ounce of gratefulness for the rescuing of these innocents when their own people were ineffective or predators!!

Your humility and courage to share your story is truly inspiring. I too hope your daughter reads the book and you will be reunited with her. I’m familiar with the Steed family and recognize it in how you articulate yourself. I hope Friends and family will reach out to you so that you will not feel alone in your journey. We often don’t think of the stories from the men’s side, because the FLDS is a patriarchal society that is designed to benefit the men. Warren Jeffs delusions has ruined everything from every side! Good luck, Isaac. I hope your daughter comes around and you find happiness and fulfillment in life. You’ve done everything you could.

    Hi dear Melissa & Sam, thanks for this interview with a father, it’s rare to me to hear a father’s perspective, I sometimes feel when people are interviewed how they get worked up when remembering certain aspects and in this episode the pain he describes he’s feeling is so palpable I’d almost touch it He was very talented in telling his story in a way where ai felt I’d envision what he described.
    I want to congratulate him to his book release 🎊!! And I want to express how much I feel with him and it’s difficult to hear him saying that he’s divorced and why it became that way at least partially, It’s a lot that needs to be processed and I sincerely hope he have someone, (human, animal, - someone safe to vent to, If you read this you probably think “who the heck is this person”, I’m absolutely no one, but your story touched me, and equally as much as I was taught ^to don’t say anything at all, had I nothing nice to say* I’m now trying to get better at *saying, expressing myself when I’ve something nice/caring to say!* || And that’s all there’s to “who I am/who is she”!! 🎶
    Thanks for sharing your story I’ll look out for your book (I live in Europe)
    With Kindness and respect Grace🎶🎭🩰

      I didn’t want to get these parts confused hence I decided to separate them by simply making the next one right beneath my first comment, I’ve the story all written down but I figured that I probably should take a another thinking route beforehand.
      It’s not special but a tiny part is challenging for me so I’ll try and write why I romanticized (more Sam’s way of growing up) and why that made sense to me.
      But I’ve read through my script and I definitely 80% - 100% the time is dodging to get from A to B in a straight line which shouldn’t be this difficult - If I were ready!
      I’ll allow myself a little bit time and I’ll either replace this comment with the actual one or, delete this one in its entirety.
      (Thanks for your understanding)
      With utmost respect to the both of you and for all your guests!!
      ❤️🎶🩰

    • @starri9103
      @starri9103 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, makes one wonder about what's going on in Texas/Utah and wherever else regarding these children.
      CPS 100% should be, and is absolutely correct, in being very cautious with putting children back with anyone who has obviously been in a cult okay with covering up child abuse and marrying off their teenage daughters, which is also abusive. Let's just be real about that.
      Being angry at social services for trying to help children is quite misplaced, IMO. Especially when one is also angry at the cult for the brainwashing that members set their own child up in.
      Lots of therapy is needed.

    • @starri9103
      @starri9103 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@vjs4539 That by no means indicates that cps was wrong. That whole situation was an obvious hot mess, hoards of undocumented children to start with. There are many, many cases of abuse (which people who have suffered have come forward about) and probably some of those children went right back into unsavory situations. We ALL should be concerned about that.
      Don't forget - murderers get off/go free because of mistakes made in the court process, and because of lack of evidence. Those types of situations do not = innocent.

I can’t imagine what it would be like to be told to simply forget your husband and here’s husband no. 2 or 3 etc. It’s obscene and my heart goes out to you and your wives and children. @CarolLady I had to go searching to attempt to find the post I made ages ago that I assume you were responding to? This I suppose?
      "That by no means indicates that cps was wrong. That whole situation was an obvious hot mess, hoards of undocumented children to start with. There are many, many cases of abuse (which people who have suffered have come forward about) and probably some of those children went right back into unsavory situations. We ALL should be concerned about that."
      Honestly, with the way the FLDS has been playing games with children and entire families for years moving kids around, taking them from their parents and in some cases placing them in situations that most of us would consider horrifying, I'm not completely impressed with the statement of how CPS "traumatised" hundreds of children.
      Those games are still being played out within the still practicing members - thus a bunch of missing children that are currently being looked for. When there was evidence found in Texas of what exactly your prophet was doing with little girls - of course the authorities stepped in. That kind of stuff is simply sick and wrong. No other way to look at it. Look at where the real problem lies.

  • @elisaa1620
    @elisaa1620 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    How traumatic it was for so many people what Warren did I’m speechless and shocked.. religion should be a direct line between you and God there shouldn’t be a man to dictate how you can communicate with or worship God or into heaven etc.. Second, I’m so sorry you and your family had to go through this very painful and traumatic time.. another thing mentioned was modesty and yes, it isn’t shameful or absurd to be modest it’s admirable..

      If they were all adults making this decision without the brainwashing of a cult included - then fine, go be freaky.
      But you start trying to make this somehow as a way to 'get to heaven' and start trafficking children into this lifestyle - it's a problem, and it isn't moral by any stretch of the imagination.

    I found it odd when they asked him how he could survive his wives being "given" to other men. And I found his answer odd as well, "it wasn't survivable." While all these wives survived their husbands being with other women right in their face for generations. After watching a bunch of these videos it has become clear to me that the major faith breaking incident occurred when what all women in this religion faced began happening to men as well. I see that there were differences, of course. These men were made to feel as though they were no longer worthy because of something they had "done." But women were subhuman from birth so...I don't know. Perhaps when you're prepared to live in hell, it's easier to do than when it's randomly thrust upon you.
