- A look at the Nikon AF-Nikkon 85mm f/1.8D, an excellent compact, fast portrait lens.
Nikon UK website:

Out of production now, replaced with AF-S version but I still prefer this one for compatibility and aesthetic reasons.
Thinking about it, the F601m would still require you to turn the aperture ring in A or M modes, as would the F4 etc.

Thanks for taking the time to do this review, it's been very helpful, especially the 1:1 comparison of f1.8 vs f2.8, etc. and the lens hood commentary.
Great, comprehensive review, thank you. In Ken Rockwell's review of this brilliant lens he states (twice) that the filter ring is "solid metal".
Concise to the point and wonderful lecture using a beautiful tone.
This is a very informative review. Good work. I have been considering getting this lens and now I'm definitely going to get one.
Very helpful & thought out review. Thank you!
Love your amazing review !
Well detailed review. Thank you.
Very nice and complete review.
Thank you a lot.
Good review. Thanks.
Your copy is really in good condition.
Is it good for Nikon D 7500
It would work fine, the D7500 can use non AF-S lenses and as it is a DX camera the effective focal length will be like that of a 130mm lens on FX/35mm film, so bear that in mind. It makes a very fast, light and cheap lens for that focal length!
a 14 minute lens review with 3 pictures. lol
