I was there. 8'39 third from left with black polo 😁. one of the best exiting/tension/level match from the competition with kreanga - joo. I remember Werner saved 4 match balls at 6-10 in the 6th Set with an impossible stomac bloc reflex, then came back, win the match and then the final... Unforgettable
He was a great player but except for the 2003 WTTC tournament he didn't have much success. His head to head score against Samsonov and Boll were pretty bad.He only entered the top 10 after the 1999 WTTC,beating Primorac.
I feel bad for Wang, it sucks when you have a really important match and you are behind in the last game, you try to attack and not be afraid of losing points yet you miss more often at that point...
j'ai honte du public francais ... qui hue lamentablement wang liqin .. un des meilleurs joueur du monde .. pauvre wang liqin si ya un public qui ne doit pas participer a ces matchs c'est bien les francais ...
Schlager even admitted that he could only beat the Chinese if he made them beat themselves. If they played normally he would have no chance. Wang felt an enormous pressure at the end of game 6 and was not able to come back to his normal level in game 7.

For me, Wang Liqin is the GOAT :)
schlager is one of the best tt players ever. My fav. INGULLAR does not think so.
Yes he is
e d Like with Ryu, he was very good in his prime (2003, 2004), but he didn't mantain that high level long enough to be considered a legend.
agreed
