Plus I feel like thor gained respect from cap in the first avengers, when cap was injured but insisted on fighting. And they sorta have a brotherly relationship in later moves imo

To be fair, this is almost certainly the work of Steve Rogers. Those WW2 vets are the only people around that remember the world he grew up in, he's part of their generation and his best link to the modern world. Thor is just a warrior of old who has traveled the galaxy, he can get on with anyone. Stark was a career military contractor and his best friend is active duty Air Force.
Of course they invited vets. It would be a lot weirder if they invited the Kardashians

This kind of stuff is exactly what the DCEU needs. It doesn’t have to be funny, but show the heroes interact with each other as human beings.

Fun fact: Stan Lee and other comicbook writers and artists were actually WW2 Veterans. In Stan's case, he was in the Signal Corps for three years. For the other guys, Joe Simon joined the Coast Guard and Jack Kirby was in the Army. Jack is a special case because after the success of the first Captain America comic (the cover has him punching Hitler like a badass), two Nazis went to his office and called him to be down in three minutes for disrespecting Hitler. Jack rolled his sleeves up and responded "I'll be there in two minutes." It was recorded with the Nazis running down the street and Jack looking ready to deliver some serious damage!

This is why I love the Avengers. The characters were so cool, they didn't need to save the world to be interesting. I remember watching this in the theater, thinking, "This party could be the whole movie, and I'd be ok with it."
After six years I just now realized they invited WW2 veterans for Steve because he relates to their life experiences and can have someone to hangout with.

I liked the chemistry between nat and cap a lot. Think of James Gunn for guardians. You need this kind of grounding for your characters if you are going to make a movie work. Take notes DC!

I also feel like they dont really show this kind of chemistry between the team as much. And there werent too many team moments cause they broke up in civil war relatively quickly
They show it here to demonstrade that the team is getting along a bit too well, too comfortable with each other, foreshadowing the break-up later on

I think Thor has always respected Cap as a man since he deflected his hammer in the first Avengers.
Lowkey probably my favorite moment in the movie. It’s very subtle sign that Thor views cap as more than just a mortal man.

Looking back to this scene, Stan Lee no longer with us and Thor saying "I knew It" looking back to the scene that follows this, it was such a good moment that Stan Lee made his cameo in one of the most important pre End Game arcs of all time.

2008 i was in high school, now 2022 i am a lawyer and both my maternal grandparents and my mama never saw me pass the bar and i am so fat that sometimes diet and a good solid run isn't enough for a superhero body anymore. times are so fast.. you begin to miss yesterday and appreciate it now cause you know you cannot turn back time. closest we got to a time machine is electronic evidence on our phones or the internet and i am thankful for youtube for letting me have access to these scenes.. reminds me of a time when my life was still peaceful and i didn't have to think bout bills.
Love how in every scene Thor is in, he's hanging out with the world war veterans. They've went through the worst conflict on Earth, and Thor has fought countless battles far beyond Earth.
I love the little details in this party. From Caps old war buddies being there, to the introverted Bruce Banner awkwardly stumbling around.

2:01 notice how thor hands steve a drink without hesitation whether he could take the liquor or not. There are a few moments like these in the movies that shows just how much thor respects Steve and I love it.
Well steve has accelerated metabolism which makes him immune to earthly alcohol, so he could easily take it and thor knew it because he had already seen his strength and all that
I also realized that Steve is the only person I've ever seen give Thor orders and he actually listens to them. Even with his own father, at first Thor was often disobedient, he's usually not one to follow orders because of his pride, so the fact that Thor willingly allows Steve to tell him what to do really shows the amount of respect Thor has for him. He follows Steve's lead, he's a god letting a human tell him what to do and he doesn't even mind. I honestly love their relationship because they both have an unspoken mutual respect for each other and even though they didn't seem like the best of friends, I really think they were.
Steve cant be drunk as evidenced by the scene in CAp 1 where he "lost" bucky

Age of Ultron gets a lot of hate, some of it justified. This scene and the following emergence of Ultron are some of the best of Marvel. When Ultron came out that first time, you could see how visibly unnerved he made all the Avengers with just a few words. I don't think anything but Thanos ever put that kind of fear into any of them.

Steve would be the only one Thor would offer his drink too. It's been stated in several movies that Steve can't get drunk because his regenerative abilities are so good that he sobers up before the glass is placed back on the table. So if anything could get Steve drunk it's an alcohol that's been aged for over a 1000 years.

It's probably strong enough to give cap a slight buzz I mean it was aged for 1,000 years. It will definitely not get him drunk however. His metabolism is so efficient in processing toxins that beer and regular "mortal" liquor really don't have an effect lol. In Cap America 1 he tried to get drunk of some liquor and it didn't work at all lol.
