To be fair, this is almost certainly the work of Steve Rogers. Those WW2 vets are the only people around that remember the world he grew up in, he's part of their generation and his best link to the modern world. Thor is just a warrior of old who has traveled the galaxy, he can get on with anyone. Stark was a career military contractor and his best friend is active duty Air Force.
Of course they invited vets. It would be a lot weirder if they invited the Kardashians

I liked the chemistry between nat and cap a lot. Think of James Gunn for guardians. You need this kind of grounding for your characters if you are going to make a movie work. Take notes DC!

Fun fact: Stan Lee and other comicbook writers and artists were actually WW2 Veterans. In Stan's case, he was in the Signal Corps for three years. For the other guys, Joe Simon joined the Coast Guard and Jack Kirby was in the Army. Jack is a special case because after the success of the first Captain America comic (the cover has him punching Hitler like a badass), two Nazis went to his office and called him to be down in three minutes for disrespecting Hitler. Jack rolled his sleeves up and responded "I'll be there in two minutes." It was recorded with the Nazis running down the street and Jack looking ready to deliver some serious damage!

2:01 notice how thor hands steve a drink without hesitation whether he could take the liquor or not. There are a few moments like these in the movies that shows just how much thor respects Steve and I love it.
Well steve has accelerated metabolism which makes him immune to earthly alcohol, so he could easily take it and thor knew it because he had already seen his strength and all that
I also realized that Steve is the only person I've ever seen give Thor orders and he actually listens to them. Even with his own father, at first Thor was often disobedient, he's usually not one to follow orders because of his pride, so the fact that Thor willingly allows Steve to tell him what to do really shows the amount of respect Thor has for him. He follows Steve's lead, he's a god letting a human tell him what to do and he doesn't even mind. I honestly love their relationship because they both have an unspoken mutual respect for each other and even though they didn't seem like the best of friends, I really think they were.

I like how Thor shared his drink with Cap. He kind of respected Cap since Avengers 1. They had a kinda brotherly bond in every avenger movie And in end game it's clearly seen ' I knew it'. I loved this duo 😍
It's also that Cap is immune to toxins to the point of being physically incapable of getting drunk. It's subtle, but that immunity is his one real superpower.

People hate on Age of Ultron but it was the perfect "Avengers" film. middle of their tenure, not starting up, not breaking up, just right in the middle.
This is nothing compared to movies up to the late 2000’s.

I think this is my favorite Avengers scene: the party at Stark’s place. Seems so natural, real, warm and it shows their friendship and camaraderie. Also it feels earned: they saved the world from Hydra. They’re heroes, not snobs. It’s a party where you and I would love to be in. This scene is also pivotal for their character development: it reveals the true level of their knowledge about each other and how well they blend in. Banner is not a weirdo everyone is afraid of, Cap is not an old fashioned man. Stark is not so jerk, Thor doesn’t look like he’s at a Halloween party. It’s the most realistic portrayal of how superheroes would be if they existed.

Looking back to this scene, Stan Lee no longer with us and Thor saying "I knew It" looking back to the scene that follows this, it was such a good moment that Stan Lee made his cameo in one of the most important pre End Game arcs of all time.

Not all veterans are created equal though. World war 2 veterans fought for freedom. Iraq and Afghanistan veterans fought for oil company rights and the incompetence of the CIA.

This movie is so underrated. People hate it because the trailers made it look like a dark edgy movie but it just turns out it’s more Avengers. But Avengers is good for a reason.
This is my favourite scene in the MCU. Instead of the flashy CGI battle scenes or battle planning or whatever, just the avengers team chilling out, bonding and having fun, shows it’s more than just fighting, hope they do more of scenes like this in the future.

This party scene and the hammer lifting scene are one of the best things of the MCU. Just seeing our favorite heroes hanging out like normal people, no plot, no story, just being themselves having fun.

I love how the filmmakers realised that scenes like this are a BIG hit and so they added a few more hanging out scenes in endgame
