in mid-August 2019 i did the full Skyline loop. most of the snow had melted and so i was able to do the trail as a run, and it took me about an hour. it was glorious!
Very little snow out where you'd think the PNW should have more compared to other parts of the country! It's the same on the Massachusetts coast! I guess the saltwater keeps it from snowing as much!
Thanks very much! I really enjoy the Upper Yosemite Falls hike in Yosemite, Half Dome in Yosemite (although it's been 13 years since I have been able to hike it again due to permit system), Highline Trail in Glacier NP, Old Rag in Shenandoah NP, Mt Ellinor in Olympic NP is pretty hard but beautiful, and I'm sure there are more but those come to mind first! How about you?
It is a good idea to have bear spray just incase you come into closer contact with a black bear, but we did not see any black bear during our week long visit.
Yep we were there in mid July 2022. It seems like they got a lot of snow this year as well, so I would still expect to hike over some snow in late July!
@@martinnguyen7047 According to recent hikers on the Alltrails app, this trail is open in May, but it's still covered in snow. The trail would be pretty dangerous and possibly more difficult to track the route when it's snow-covered. They recommend snow shoes right now.
This year (2024), there will likely still be quite a bit of snow up there mid June- it looks like at this time (end of May), hikers on Alltrails App are recommending snowshoes or spikes on your feet. I would recommend having an alternate trail option when you go in June, just incase there is too much snow still. You can check out what recent hikers experienced on Alltrails for this hike www.alltrails.com/trail/us/washington/skyline-trail ! I hope you can do it though!!
Such clear and concise information thank you!!

wow that is insane you did that in an hour! I would love to go back and hike this trail when the snow is gone!
This year (2024) with snow levels so low and it heating up so quickly now I’m not sure there will be much snow by mid-July.
Omg, literally breathtaking scenery my friend! Epic video 👏👏

I went there in 2021 first week of September and I did route 3 but didn't get to see the mountain due to clouds.
Thanks for your recommendations!

Good and simple video !! Did you prepare for any bear encounters.

Is the start of the sky loop anywhere near the gondola? Booked tickets for that and would look to do other stuff whilst we are there
The gondola ride at Crystal mountain is about a 1 hour 15 min drive to the Paradise area where the Skyline trailhead is located.
