Thank you, Jun. So do you think pureed fresh pineapple and white bean paste would have made the fillings closer?
Jun u will master it in time lol
Unsubbing. Dont reccomend channel
@@misterturkturkle how about you just do this, and keep it to yourself. There's no reason to piss off people who come here because they enjoy the videos - which is like 99% of the people watching anyway. some opinions are unpopular and deserve to stay that way.
@@flatulence9194 i dissagree.
The paw prints make it look like the boys gave their seal of approval.😊
What about Peachi 😠
Well Poki definitely did
@@jessiehoak2040 I think Pichi judges everything they do 🤣she'd only give her paw of approval if they claimed Poki made it
@@jessiehoak2040Only Poki and Nagi were watching, so they're tze only ones giving their approval.
11:30 that little meow of protest from Poki as Jun bites into the snack is adorable
And the more aggressive grab?
I like that there is still some street cat in Poki/
Why don't he give the cat a bit?
@@Slechy_Lesh It is not healthy for them, sugar is very bad for their health (emphasise on this because people tend to ignore/not realise), plus they cannot eat some fruits (not sure about pineapple in this case) and other ingredients that humans can.
Poor Poki just wanted a bite
Poor Poki: at that last mochi bite he must have thought, "Surely •this• one is for me, right dad? Right? RIGHT?!?" lololol
Dang, the garden view from the window with the rain drizzling down is so stunning. What a lovely garden!
my thoughts exactly.
Right?? The contrast with the red leaves and the garden in the background is just gorgeous!
That looked so perfect it almost felt like stock footage.
Be a perfect background for a calming playlist or ambience
@@kuroakikitsune I was thinking that too! It could definitely be used as a background for a relaxing playlist or a sleep aid playlist.
Jun: *talks about the Japanese weather*
Poki: MEEEEEEEEEEEEEOW
I love how Poki just casually orders Jun to come back to the kitchen as if saying "get back to work!" He's the boss for sure.
I love the cats being like Food Network judges XD
They offer the best judgement.
Iron Chef!
It looks like they were inspired by Taiwanese Pineapple Cakes. For pineapple cake fillings, the pineapples are cooked down until they become a jam. Sometimes they add fillers like wintermelon to make it smoother and less acidic, probably similar to why white bean paste was added.
Poki's like, "it has a pawprint on it!! Clearly it is a snack for cats!!!" Haha
Poki meowing desperate to try Jun's manju is so good! This was the first time yours got so diferrent from the original, I like how Rachel is 100% honest lol
This channel is the epitome of quality over quantity.
Poki’s meow always makes me laugh. He’s so cute. 😆 Speaking of cute that cat paw brand is frickin’ ADORABLE.
It's cute how he waves them away like a Wizard
Cats: 😼
Him: I'm making magic!! Shoo your snoots!! 🪄
I mean in Poki's defense I'd be pretty ticked off if my Hibachi chef just walked off to look at the weather
I am suprised Poki didn't a sneak attack on the food when you make it. Please make more cooking videos, short long, I'm game for it!
You said you've never even had pineapple mochi manju, so you were already giving yourself a disadvantage, lol. It still looks great and somehow, Rachel said she tasted strawberry pineapple, which actually sounds really delicious!
She said "stronger pineapple," but you're right that strawberry pineapple sounds SO tasty!
@@pemilystallwark Whoops, I don't have the greatest hearing, it seems! 😅 But I would love to give that a try if it were made with strawberry and pineapple, lol.
The auto-generated captions do say "strawberry pineapple" 😆
Wish they added captions to their videos
@@BewareTheLilyOfTheValley It's not just you, I heard strawberry too 😂RIP captions letting us down
@@pemilystallwarkwait it’s not strawberry pineapple?? pls 😭😭 I heard strawberry ahhh maybe I should get my ears checked
I love how even as good as Jun is with English, and he is really, really good, he still has to occasionally ask Rachel for pronunciation help.
It shows that Jun is always working to improve and he's not embarrassed to ask for help from his wife.
As a native English speaker, I still ask Google for help! English pronunciation is so hard sometimes lol
Jun is ever the perfectionist❤
@@Emily-hd9sm Because English isn't really a language, it's three or four different languages in a trench coat walking around and pretending to be a grownup.
Poki’s disgruntled face had me rolling. 😂
JUN THE PAW PRINT AAAAH. I love it so much. Also, you always learn more by failing than you ever do succeeding, so I hope you keep trying this challenge! It's wonderful to watch
No one:
Nobody:
Not a single soul:
Poki: MYAAAAAAAAA
I suspect the pineapple in the manufactured manju was prepared like a jam or confit. If you were to make your own version again, perhaps start there, and add a bit of fresh pineapple to the cooked pineapple and bean paste mixture to preserve that texture you enjoyed, while marrying the flavors more. (also, keep in mind your manju were fresh, whereas the Sakura Co. manju have been "ripening" for a while, allowing all of the flavors to develop and marry. If you had any of your homemade manju left, how were they the next day?)
Jun, you are too hard on yourself! Any chef would have to make a recipe many times before they perfect it. I agree with the jam comment, but be careful adding raw pineapple to a jelly as the enzymes may make it watery (blanch it first).
Jun is so great at so many things. Sometimes I forget he also had to start from somewhere. You'll get there Jun!
Great vid, keep it up 😄
I'd be shocked if Jun was able to make a sweet on par with these artisans the very first time he tried. These are people who have honed their craft for ages. That doesn't mean Jun isn't talented though. He's an incredible culinary artist and it's fun to watch him try his hand at making all these snacks and sweets.
Aww Poki at the end!! His little meow sounded so exasperated! He always makes me laugh when he's in your videos, he has the sweetest little heart 💕
I enjoy your challenges. Homemade products are rarely the same as commercially made products. Just because homemade is different doesn't mean commercial is better. It all depends on how you enjoy different flavors, textures, etc.
Poki was so mad you wouldn't share! It was so cute❤
Poki is like, "Whose paw prints are these? Have you been cooking with other cats?"
I love these comparison videos, they're so much fun to watch. It'd be really cool to see you re-attempt any of the recipes after tasting the boxed version of the food!
Everything you make looks absolutely delicious! When I watch your videos, I end up learning so much about how to cook with ingredients that I don't usually have in my kitchen. Thank you for teaching me and for getting me excited about eating new and different foods!
Jun was coping, admitted defeat, then started coping again. Poki was having none of that. xD
I tried the pineapple mochi manju from my Sakuraco box and it did actually have a few pineapple cubes in it. They were really tiny and added some nice crunch. So perhaps if you try making some again, you could make a thick pineapple jam and fold it with white bean paste and a few tiny pineapple cubes.
I love the paw print and your content :3
Poki’s little grabby paws lol! 😂 He’s just the epitome of “Hey, gimme!” 🐾🍍
You're at a huge disadvantage not having even tried it before! I'd love to see you retry this with the knowledge you have now that you've tasted the SakuraCo one
Jun: take a smol break to the window to show the viewer what is like summer in Japan
Poki (as a TH-cam video producer): JUNNNN. BACK TO COUNTER NOW! WE CONTINUE TO SHOOT.
❤
Poki is too precious at the end! 😭❤️
i make these sorts of pineapple pies a lot because it’s a traditional dish where i live, usually the pineapple is cooked down into a jam or even thicker sort of like a paste! if you want to include chunks you could probably blend half and cut the other half into cubes, then cook it down into the paste 😊
That sounds delicious... I imagine cooking the pineapple down would blend the flavours more
I loved Poki calling you back to work. So cute.
I always enjoy people freestying their cooking and try different things. And how he doesn't mind trying, and seemed unbothered that his work falls behind the professional one.
This is simple, but as someone who has the "be excellent or you fail" kind or mindset, its such a nice and refreshing reminder to enjoy things refardless od the result
Cat inspectors 😂 so cute
Jun I’m always so happy when you keep trying to make these things happen thank goodness you keep trying keep up the good work A plus 😊
It looks good! The cat paws were a nice touch too!
Poki's meows make my day
Piniapple Mochi Manju looks so good!
I love piniapple 🍍
Keep trying, Jun! 😃 The main difference I noticed in your manju is that you cooked yours like a dumpling. But, if you like what you have so far already, it would be fun to see you make another one in the future after you've perfected your own recipe. ☺️
The filling on yours looks super good. We have been doing sakuraco 2 months now, and really love any of the manju or daifukus. Our only complaint is that there are some things not vegetarian friendly. I wish they had a box where it had 2 of each item so me and my husband can each have our own instead of having the extra bags of pork or fish crackers. The tea has been amazing!
Even though Jun is a harsh critic of his own cooking, Poki is always there to let him know it smells delicious. ❤️ 100/10 such a supportive kitty.
The paw print stamp gives me such Monster Hunter vibes! Sooooo cute!
I also did not expect you to lose! You’ll get the next one, I believe in you!
Your yard looks so green and pretty! Also that Poki meow when you started tasting the manju was super cute XD
You made it look so easy to make the snack! I think with practice you could have made it just as pretty as the professional one, but it still looked super tasty and paw print was adorable! Also I agree that the chunks of fruit add a nice bit of texture when eating.
I want to try making milk bread. The recipe I saw steamed it instead of baking it. Since Jun steamed the manju it made me wonder it steaming might make for a more spongey texture?
Please keep creating these challenges for yourself!! It’s super fun to watch and it’s a great learning experience as well. 👏🏼
Love how the subtitles turned Pokie into boogie. 😂😂😂
Jun living the life, just eating tasty snacks while drinking delicious tea
This is my favorite video format. I love how Jun is using his own creativity to (re)invent a recipe. And of course watching him cook and bake is the most wholesome, relaxing thing ever❤
There needs to be a cat version of Sakura co & this challenge so Poki can get to try snacks and judge. He so wanted Jun's home made snack
Poki is such a gentle foodie... 😋My heart, literally, breaks into lil pieces just by watching him so disappointed. Poor Poki! He could only imagine the taste of this yummy pineapple mochi... 💔💔💔
Theres a typo in the title for "pineapple" but love the video as always!
Poki telling you to "focus" 😂. Omg, truly wonderful ❤
京都の桜子さん工房動画から久し振りで
嬉しいです❤❤❤
Most people are happy buying a snack and eat it, not you though, you go and make it!
Always great to watch
Thank you for this series. Its interesting to see how these snacks are made, especially after trying them this month
Love how Poki is attentively listening and looking at Jun while giving his review on the cookies 🤣🫶
優しい会話すぎて和む🤭
I love seeing the authentic reactions at the end! So much of cooking is learning from what doesn't work, and it's super cool to see you try and make these difficult snacks yourself!
ALWAYS LOVE YOUR VIDEOS! THANK YOU, JUN! 🥰 Love to you, Rachel and the catoos! 🥰 The cats! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
One of my favorite parts is June trying to eat and Poki trying to get a taste. His just natural lean away and holding the food away out of habit made me laugh. That's my life too I have 4 cats and even though they eat well, sometimes I will have 3 trying to grab a taste of my food
You've promoted Sakuraco so much and they always looks great. The tours on the main channel is great too. When I'm old enough and live alone, this is on my list of things to get.
Yesss I was waiting for an upload!! I love your videos so much keep doing what you love ❤😊
動画待ってました。
Junさんの料理動画はいつ見ても和むし面白いので嬉しいです☺️
パイナップル餡子のお饅頭すごくおいしそう...肉球マーク🐾はJunさんらしくて最高ですね!!
I love the aesthetic of your videos ❤
I always enjoy watching you challenge yourself with these Jun, keep the good work up :)
I got a 6-month Sakuraco box subscription in June and your taste testing is making me really excited to receive my August box! Usually gets to me (Denver, Colorado) by the third week of the month.
I love the way you challenge yourself by trying to make things as inspired by Sakurako. I'm sure you'll nail it or surpass it at some point, Jun. Keep trying! 🥰
It is wonderful to see it home made. The paw prints are absolutely cute!😻
The pattern on your knives is SO COOL!!
THAT CAT PAW PRINT STAMP 😻 ❤
Everything looked really amazing!
I love the Sakurako challenges lol
I BELIEVE IN YOU! YOU WILL WIN NEXT TIME!!🎉
The paw print is so cute!!! Loved the view from the garden too. Your videos are always so calming to watch 😊
Next week : Jun tries to put his cat paw seal on all his food. Plot Twist : Poki does the same and ends up winning the food.
I love how the cats absolutely rule the house, as my cats rule my house haha. Little emperors and empresses with many demands
loved the way u tried to make yours different! it turned out so cute and i know that it’s not far from the original!
I remember reading somewhere that the word "amateur" comes from the root word "amore" or "to love." Loving something enough to try it out even though you're not experienced is always a win! Plus then you have two sweets instead of one so I see no downsides here. :)
We love your videos, Rachel and Jun!
Homemade looks appealing, even more so than the Sakuraco.. The colours make it more dynamic. 😊Good to see Rachel in a video again!
Life is so depressing in America. Thank you June for giving me life 💜 I appreciate you and all you do so much! Keep it up! 😋
WHY IS POKI SO FRICKING CUTE IN THE END?!
Definitely need to cook the pineapple to make it like jam for the filling, but add chunks of it as well if you like.
I love these videos so much!
The paw prints are adorable 😻
8:18 Poki's head slowly sinking as he realises he's not gonna be getting that food
Love these challenges
Love Jun’s cooking videos! ❤
The lil’ paw detail is perfection!
Love those kitchen knives 😍
Idk why I found everything so funny today but the cat stamp was just *chefs kiss* just too fricking adorable on the manjuu! 😻😻Also I was rewatching some old R&J Adventures and I wonder if this is the series they teased when talking about a new series Jun was going to start 🤔🤔🤔
Unrelated, Jun if you decide to get a summer haircut, the short style you had in your Fukuoka apartment was a LOOK!!! 👌🏼👌🏼 (was reminded of it during my rewatch haha)
Aww thank you for the lovely video!
When you took out the paw print I laughed so hard. Also I laughed at the end when Poki decided he wanted some too.
Yours looks different on the inside but the outside is 10/10.
Don't give up!
Beyond adorable! Everything...the way the gang sits calmly watching all the action, Poki and his loud voice, and the pawprints! Sooo cute, and you are a wonderful cook😂
absolutely adorable!!!
You can't expect perfect results the first time you try something, Jun! I still loved it, though! Will watch anything you make. 🐾
Ohhh!! I wanna try it!!
These are always so fun! I hope you can win next time!
Poki's attitude can be priceless sometimes. He sure makes me smile and chuckle.
I love these video where you cook something present in Sakuraco box and compare with Rachel (and Poki judjing you xD). Thank you for the video !! Kiss from Paris
they look so tasty! and pretty too! the cats watching so attentively was adorable! id probably suggest cooking the pineapple with some sugar/syrup into a thick paste to give more flavour and be more homogenous. the mochi filling might need a bit of milk or gelatin and the outside can probably add a bit of the pineapple paste/juice into the dough, not only will give colour and flavour but probably a more moister texture.
