You're right, but matching moving speed and animation speed can be fixed in like 2 seconds. Everything in this trailer looks great. But the stars of this show are the level artists.
So the game took place in a long eroded post apocalyptic landscape that has been collapsed for so long that human bodies have decomposed and a new lion species has evolved, but the light in the locomotive is still on indicating the train is still running? That train has amazing fuel storage.
The train isn't running. The sound of the engine would be clearly audible, especially in a 1950s cab unit like that one. The light is on the same way someone would leave their car lights on accidentally. The light is independent from the engine and runs on batteries. But if that's the case then yeah, that light should have been out decades ago. Unless somebody has been keeping the locomotive operational.
Chance Wen Exactly, we figured the compromise of giving better lighting over finding a weird explanation was good/fair enough. Someone found a way to start it up again but didn't stop to check for the bridge's structural integrity and thus, fell down, engine OFF and batteries keeping their charge from the ride. Very fancy... Who knows where the pilot went...
A human body take 8-12years to fully decompose under 6' of dirt. This process would be sped up dramatically when directly exposed to oxygen. (also do to animals).
Marc Tardif Hey there I am starting to get into the voice acting business and I would be interested to help you in this project! If you ever need a male voice actor, or even only somebody to make character sounds (like jumping, grunting etc...) I would love to help out! Thanks for reading this, if you're interested please email me or simply message me on TH-cam!
Just getting 7 people to work together on a project is a feat in of itself. Great job guys. I have been making games for 3 years now and it would take me an extremely long time to get the level of detail that game had. Great atmosphere and can't wait to see more from you guys.
Oh My God this game is amazing I can't believe this was built by students. They all seems to have amazing game-making potential and I hope they all get good jobs later in life.
Emile Viens I'm very happy to hear it! It's just a dream for me more developers get inspired from titles like these! That means only more games like that.
Probably will Need More Work But The Level Design Touched My Heart!.......Really Guys It's Beautiful!Only A Full Fledged Gameplay Will Make It A Great Game!
why do walking in all school project videos look like you're gliding on the ground.. is walking animation that hard? (in a curious voice not critizing )
Hey man email this please. sesequire@gmail.com I would like to know how and why games are so expensive to make if you can make it through this engine? please.
+Dark Mist In my opinion they simply sped up the movement of the character, to make the final result shorter (not 10-15 minutes, but 5). Because after final assembly (whole area), they realized that to show all, it takes more time than they expected.
I have a lot of mixed feelings about this project. For one, you guys did an amazing job in building a game from the ground up in a matter of a single term like that. You've created some fairly decent mapwork and have a good sense of level optimization, and you even included quite a number of little details that helped make the level look immersive. That being said, there are quite a few things that I'm surprised you guys didn't notice fairly quickly, especially considering the level of work and detail that went into this production. For one, your character constantly narrating her own actions and explaining all of the nuances that you tried to oh-so-subtly place in there detracts from the atmosphere and mystery the game would otherwise have. Your animations are often times sloppy, something that surprises me when this comes from the same people who took the time to design intricate scenery themselves. While that doesn't break the deal for me with this, it does hurt it from reaching its potential. All in all, I'm fairly impressed. While this could've been made better, you guys did a great job for something that you had so little time for. I'm sure that your future employers will be happy to add you to their rosters, and the best of luck to all of you in that regard. ~VS
This is WOW! I'm a student myself on my last year and i'm wanting to create a walkthrough. Any chance of putting a tutorial on how you did this. Truly amazing!!!
I am currently a student at Full Sail University to become a game artist and I am working with Unreal Engine. I'm looking forward to creating games like these. Thank you for sharing this! I really enjoyed it. Have you developed this project into a full game?
would benefit from reducing the travel distance for walking. Walking seems a tad floaty and off because the distance is slightly too high. but other than that this is Fantastic! The atmosphere, the mapping, the sound design. SPOT ON!
Is there anywhere I can buy this? As a game design student, this is really god damn motivating and I would love to play it. The visual design and atmosphere create a really tangible sense of the world. This is really impressive and you guys should be very proud of yourselves
Ermm....at 2:01 is that not the feral druid from WoW shapeshifting sound? Nonetheless, i admire your work and i think you've achieved quite the feat of strength with this project! Do you intend on taking this any further? I'd say that a title like this would be quite the hit on Steam.
A bit of optimization and this would run smooth as ensure out the other end. Nicely done. I am a beginner with this program/software. I design homes mainly with unreal and then use Unity for environment/Landscaping.
Very nice work, it reminds me of The Last of us! keep up the great work :) btw, I'm assuming NAD is your university? if so, could you tell me your university's full name? I've been looking for a good university for a while now, Software or game development.
awesome game!!! but may i suggest something? i think you should add a moving foot rotate because its kinda not realistic when you just rotate with your feet staying still. maybe make it so your feet and waist move as you turn and rotate
Ashley That would depend on what program you're learning. And believe me, it's A LOT easier these days with all the videos on youtube.. Try learning 3d back in the '90s when all we had were 600 page manuals.
Ashley Good choice if game modeling is your goal. :) Jesus I feel old now.. I actually Beta tested the windows version of 3D Studio, known as 3ds MAX. :)
I just downloaded the unreal engine 4 and I am not sure exactly how everything works because im new to it all but wan to create something. Anyone help.
hi,my name is Deon i would like to know about Unreal Engine game development.. Now i am using Unity 3d Game Engine, but i like unreal engine because most of top ten games are developed by using unreal engine . i try to study Unreal Engine but i feel it is very difficult to study compare with unity 3d . i feel Unity 3d is easy to study. I would like to know your opinion about Unreal Engine.. 1) Which one is easy to study Unreal Engine or Unity 3d.? 2) In Unity 3d similarity in bone structure, it is possible to map animations from one humanoid skeleton to another by using mecanim tool.Unreal Engine have any tool like mecanim or can i have apply one animation to another character? 3) In Unity 3d do not need detailed rigging for animation of character or main player.Character can animate using 15 basic bone.Do i need detailed rigged character for Unreal Engine ? Can i use basic rigged character?
One thing I'd find frustrating while playing it is that the character obstructs too much of the view. Shifting the camera slightly to the right ought to fix that. I know it's been 3 years since this video was posted. Don't presume to tell me where to comment, boi.
The future of gaming looks to be in good hands, congratulations to all involved. This looks phenomenal :)
its awesome, but the character walks unrealistically fast
Looks like she walks on a threadmill
You're right, but matching moving speed and animation speed can be fixed in like 2 seconds.
Everything in this trailer looks great. But the stars of this show are the level artists.
Jose Díaz those 2 seconds could really make the game better
DeviMark Yep. I'm sure they will accept the criticism if they keep working on their game.
Jose Díaz Have you watched the cinematic trailer? There is a big difference between that and this. Its good to see that they have AAA prospects.
This is a student project? WOW, JUST WOW. Bravo to all the teams!
Impressive for being a 14 weeks made game! +1 Keep up the good work.
some dude made minecraft in a week

Yoo, wtf? This could be a straight-up triple A game! Everything is fantastic!
So the game took place in a long eroded post apocalyptic landscape that has been collapsed for so long that human bodies have decomposed and a new lion species has evolved, but the light in the locomotive is still on indicating the train is still running?
That train has amazing fuel storage.
The slate at the beginning explains it well. Also, @ 3:57 you can hear the sound of the train falling :)
The train isn't running. The sound of the engine would be clearly audible, especially in a 1950s cab unit like that one. The light is on the same way someone would leave their car lights on accidentally. The light is independent from the engine and runs on batteries. As a student project, good job. This feels close to being your typical AAA video game.
your game looks awesome and the concept is really good. I like how the environment artists have taken care of each and every detail.
I am trying to do my project and I now saw this game. I'll have to work a lot to get to these performances. Good work !
and that was a student project?! Well done!
Oh My God this game is amazing I can't believe this was built by students. They all seems to have amazing game-making potential and I hope they all get good jobs later in life.
That just reminds me so much of The Last of us
It was one of our inspirations. As was the Vanishing of Ethan Carter. :)
Emile Viens I'm very happy to hear it! It's just a dream for me more developers get inspired from titles like these! That means only more games like that.
***** I read that it was 14 weeks
Yep, 14 weeks.
The Last of Us e tom raider fada na bagaça
This is gonna be a real good one when you finish it! Great job guys!
Fantastic, all of you! Congratulations on this project.
all i have to say is THAT,WAS AMAZING!,EVEN FOR A PROJECT THIS KID CAN MAKE A GAME.
as a student using udk 4 I can say well played. This must have been a LOT of hard work!
Would totally buy this game!
My goodness, this is phenomenal! Makes me want to replay TLoU.
This is incredible! Well done!
Probably will Need More Work But The Level Design Touched My Heart!.......Really Guys It's Beautiful!Only A Full Fledged Gameplay Will Make It A Great Game!
Looks like Tomb Raider meets The Last of Us....That's a solid fucking effort for a student project. Amazing fucking job dude!
why do walking in all school project videos look like you're gliding on the ground..
is walking animation that hard? (in a curious voice not critizing )
I know what you mean but i really think this isnt as easy as you think especially the animation, character build, level etc.
***** what about recoding some one walking nd than copying that footage frame per frame ?
***** recording*

finish it, fix some things and you will probably take our damned money! you have a great future bro
It looks really good so far, few mishaps here and there but can be fixed with time. Would love to see a more completed version.

Very good show off, hope you guys keep at it!
The Last of Us inspiration is very clear here. Well done.
Amazing just need a little work on the shadows. They are too rough and too dark. Smoother and lighter shadows and this would be perfect.
the timing of walking speed and the animation of the girl dont fit together
This is WOW! I'm a student myself on my last year and i'm wanting to create a walkthrough. Any chance of putting a tutorial on how you did this. Truly amazing!!!
This trailer looks amazing!
Can we know what tools you used for 3d modeling, texturing, sculpting, animating ?
You have to zoom out the character a bit and re animate the walking but the game looks very good
i really really really like the storm blueprint
The game title catch me love it!
I am currently a student at Full Sail University to become a game artist and I am working with Unreal Engine. I'm looking forward to creating games like these. Thank you for sharing this! I really enjoyed it. Have you developed this project into a full game?

Tomb radier + the last of us :P liked it good job

Nice TPP Adventure presentation. Reminds Tomb Raider. :)
Lara? It's you??

I like it, the environment's really nice. I must say though I think the character could do with some work, animation and hair wise.
wow vry impressive, how did you setup your camera system
Very nice work, it reminds me of The Last of us! keep up the great work :)
btw, I'm assuming NAD is your university? if so, could you tell me your university's full name? I've been looking for a good university for a while now, Software or game development.
0:18 Why does she disappear for less than half a second?
awesome game!!! but may i suggest something? i think you should add a moving foot rotate because its kinda not realistic when you just rotate with your feet staying still. maybe make it so your feet and waist move as you turn and rotate
Magic carpet ride anyone? I'm floating with this.
Kinda reminds me of Tomb Raider.... ( which is good !!! ) . Nice work btw !!
How did you get that anamorphic lens flare?
it's so prettyyyyy :D
So awesome ! Love the hair :D
Is she on roller skates?
This game use Blueprint or use c lang. ? i'm beginner :) thank you.
why we dont have any more information about this game?
The 3D modeller for that train is talented
+Ashley Stock 3d models are usually well detailed. ;)
Dan Bolivar I know, i am trying to learn 3D modelling. It is extremely difficult.
Ashley That would depend on what program you're learning. And believe me, it's A LOT easier these days with all the videos on youtube.. Try learning 3d back in the '90s when all we had were 600 page manuals.
Dan Bolivar I prefer the written tutorials but yes :P I am learning 3ds max
Ashley Good choice if game modeling is your goal. :) Jesus I feel old now.. I actually Beta tested the windows version of 3D Studio, known as 3ds MAX. :)
She sounds like the voice actor from the Sofia Follower Skyrim mod
the only thing I can really hate on at this point is the walk speed.
Though I accidentally opened WOW at the background. The tiger roar lol
Wish this was a whole game
BOOOOOOOOORIIIIIINGGGGGGGGG
I just downloaded the unreal engine 4 and I am not sure exactly how everything works because im new to it all but wan to create something. Anyone help.
What school are you a student at? I might want to go there myself.
For those wondering why the train was still working, it's highly likely the train recently crashed while on the move.
TR?
Please tell me what you used to make the character
MoCap in a student project?
looks awesome, good work!
Looks good, congrats!
1:42 is a World of Warcraft mount sound.
how long is the group that made this?
Just wanted to let you know your demo reel was taken down by INgrooves.
this is so cool , game company need to hired them .. :)
How did u made that Cutscene?
world of warcraft mount sounds? :D
She is doing the moonwalk forward. Looks pretty though
Она не ходит, а плавает по дороге!
How long did this take?
"probably didnt even saw them coming"
Did you guys even get sleep in 14 weeks?
the walk speed is so fast.
reminds me of the Last of us
correct if i'm wrong, but the walk looks so not real
how to make it look good with UE4
keep in mind they had a designated time and this was just a project. but I agree.
cry wolf reduce the character walk speed and change the mapping of the walk animation in the blendspace they created for the character.
Nahoom thx bro ;)
Coolio
just a pity that the speed of the player is a bit faster than the walk animation. We have the impression of sliding on the floor. :/
wait course should we study to become game create do u know
Sorry what course
you used lines from the last of us game. its kinda irritating that the walk speed doesn't match the animation. but cool atmosphere
love the look of the game, but the character seems to be moving faster than her work animation
Impressed!
Wow well done people, keep up the good work

someone know how to make hair like that?
Its called TresHair, its a hair physics thing.
Download link please?:)
The future of no gameplay. Can't wait for more on rails cover shooters. Just wish I didn't have to press buttons, how about a "movie mode"?
so u burned ur the order 1886?
One thing I'd find frustrating while playing it is that the character obstructs too much of the view. Shifting the camera slightly to the right ought to fix that.

is she using rollerblades?
looks great!
Download?
Wow. Only bad things were "glide" walking and weird head animation in end.
is UE4 a freeware?
Great work!
