I agree, it would be great to have this plugin in Blender. It is the only thing that keeps me from switching completely to Blender. Maybe George can have a look but from my feeling it would be pretty hard to convert since Maya and Blender seem to handle curves quite differently :/
Hi George, thanks for your amazing tool! I was wondering if I can unevenly subdivide a carve card based on the curvature? Now it seems Auto division still divide evenly. Looking forward to your reply!
No, I'm not the original sculptor. This is a basemesh by Eugene Fokin: www.artstation.com/eof You can find him on gumroad, if you wish to support his art.
Hi. No, in this case the eyebrows were just created using XGen and converted to geometry tubes. You can however model eyebrows with GS CurveTools using tubes for individual hairs or just cards for more optimized and denser eyebrows.
Hey George, Im on May 2019 running the latest version of the plugin. Any idea why I cant see any images in the uv editor? I can change the BG colour and the colour of the transform box but no images diffuse or alpha will display.
Hey. Check if your material is setup correctly: gs-curvetools.readthedocs.io/en/latest/uv-editor.html Also, check if your textures are in one of the supported formats: "PNG, JPG/JPEG or TIF/TIFF (LZW or No Compression) texture file is recommended. TGA (24bit and no RLE) is also supported."
Hello, I have downloaded your updated version 1.3.4. Please tell me, is it possible to assign a color to each individual strand of hair to see that they do not intersect? on older versions I saw a lot of color choices, now I can’t find it
Hi! Geometry colors are on per-layer basis. So, if you have cards in layer "0", they will all share the same color. Curves themselves (the ones you use to control the geometry) can have individual colors and (optionally) sync to the layer colors.
hello, thanks for such amazing tool, I have an issue regarding the angle of the hair cards, first... somtemime sdepending on the angle of view in the viewport, the texture of the haircard dissapears, or becomes translusent... and second . whenever I create a warp hair card, and when I try to rotate on the Z axis, the card "twists" by itself, it also happens when you move the first point assosiated with that axis the whole card twist by itself.... if you could help me it would be much appreciated thank you in advance!
Hi, 1. You need to change the viewport settings to render transparency properly. You can do this manually, or by selecting "Depth Transparency" option in the Options menu in GS CurveTools: gs-curvetools.readthedocs.io/en/latest/options.html#transparency-settings 2. The card will change orientation when you move the first two root CVs too much. This is normal Maya behavior and there is nothing that can be done about it. You just need to be aware of this on Warp cards and Bind objects: gs-curvetools.readthedocs.io/en/latest/faq.html#warp-card-orientation-flip That's why the first two Root CVs must be near the scalp, so you don't have to move them all the time.
Hello George Sladkovsky! how does the licensing work when you say existing customers can download it for free? if i buy this version on artstation, will future versions be free for download there? will i also be able to download it for free on flipped normals even though ive bought it only on artstation?
Hello! When you buy something on ArtStation or FlippedNormals your purchase will appear in your "Profile -> My Library" page. There, you can always re-download the product, or download the latest available update. If you buy something on ArtStation, it will only appear in your library in ArtStation and vice versa. I always upload the latest versions on both platforms, so it shouldn't matter too much where you bought it.
Unfortunately, you can't add custom cuts on the procedural card. This will break some functions. Your best bet is to add divisions using sliders and then (after the hair is done) use Reduce function to remove unnecessary geometry and optimize the model.
@@GeorgeSladkovsky tks ,I got it , I want to use cross polygon to make the thickness of hair. so I will so gald if this function will be added in the future,
I usually use tubes from the tool to create braids. Just flatten them a bit on one axis and form a braid shape. But you can also just use any geometry and attach it to a curve using Bind. I just prefer the flexibility of procedural tubes.
Hi! I am using your plug-in v.1.1 for Maya 2020. I did all the steps correct for installation but it gives an error: No module named gs_curvetools.init I thought maybe it's because different python versions, but i think maya 2020 and version 1.1.1 of your plug-in use python 2.
Hi. No module named error means you copied gs_curvetools folder to the wrong scripts folder. Check the installation notes again: gs-curvetools.readthedocs.io/en/latest/installation.html
@@mortallart You need to use version specific scripts folder, not the shared one. There should me something like maya/2020/scripts, and NOT maya/scripts.
No, you can't. The script uses Maya internal commands that point to the "maya/2020/scripts" (in case of Maya 2020) folder when it runs some commands. You can't override it. Try downloading the latest version of the tool (v1.3.1) and see it it works. It's a free update, you can find in your profile at the marketplace where you bought the tool. In any case, if you copied everything correctly it should work regardless of the version. Just follow the README.txt file and use the provided command.

Increadible update. A super weirdo-addicted-to-control like me so happy to see all these features
Amazing updates. makes the process so much better for creating hair cards.
I'm glad you like it!
youre doing great work

Amazing!!! I bought it for Maya and it's worth every penny, it would be nice if you could also develop it for Blender.
