- In today's Pokemon cards opening I opened a $500 booster box of Cosmic Eclipse Pokemon cards to see if it would be a profit or loss. So far we are 0-4 but will we finally win today or will it be yet another loss.

I didnt think a Cosmic Eclipse booster box was going to be opened in the Profit or Loss series but im excited to see what you pull from it, $222 value prediction Good Luck!
According to pokecollector, you will still loss 43 dollars if you pull the most expensive three full art cards, 5 most expensive gx, and pull a pikachu and red card (plus another trainer-Pokémon card) and counting all the bulk. This is how crazy Pokémon goes. Remember Pokémon is a kid game. This game used to be everyone could afford it.
Thanks for calculating this, opening booster boxes of older sets is always going to be a loss. Has to be an etb to stand a chance of just getting lucky.
Moral of the story: in Pokémon tcg, you never win
Your right in my opinion shining fates has a good price for a trainer box and has a good amount of hits per box

I’ll guess $120. The more expensive the booster box is, the less money they’ll be as a set. A lot of Pokémon sets are top-heavy and require you to pull the heavy-hitters to justify opening as opposed to leaving them sealed: which will almost always be the better option.

Cosmic eclipse is one of those booster boxes that was super cool to open at the time.
This series is so fun to watch and some good boxes to open would be evolving sky's or vivid voltage with there cheap price and there good cards theres a high chance to make your money back!

Whew, tough to even get to 50% value on cards. Makes me think that singles are the way to go to get what you want. Definitely not as fun as opening packs. Thanks Rev for the videos!
Ya for sure ! Even at msrp we usually lose . So paying more than msrp never makes sense to open ! Besides the fun of course

This is my favorite series I think being able to really see the sets and how the pull rates can really effect wether a box is good or not. I think you’ll get $186 in value
This is honestly one of my favorite series the whole release so far. I absolutely love contacting Karch and seeing so much from this set is amazing. Hopefully around $300 worth back from the video, not expecting too much ha ha

@@DMP11124 of course he did worse. The more expensive the box is, the less profit you are to make. People need to understand that without grading involved, it’s better to keep the box sealed than open.
Cosmic eclipse is my favorite set. Especially love the trainer, and team up cards. Also you're the best when it come too content. Hope you never ever stop
This is worse then gambling addiction.... It's literally the same thing lol! That's why I just collect for the reason pokemon was made. For the fun and the game! Not to make money from! Stick to the stock market if you wanna invest and make money! Pokemon is a kids game for fun! The culture Is doomed! Has been doomed since these celebrities and TH-camrs starting making videos like this! It's sad man!

I love seeing Cosmic Eclipse getting opened in this series! It is my second favorite set from the Sun and Moon era. Even though your luck in this series hasn’t been the greatest when it comes to value I am going to say you’ll get around $200 in value.

Absolutely love this set and hate that I got back in just after this set wasn't available but I still enjoy ripping packs from pokeball tins, collection boxes, etc.

Rev probably will get around $200 in value. Hopefully more though... This man just cannot win these days. Especially in this kind of series.
Rev the Pokemon card values are dropping so bad right now because of this bonehead ran economy. Example one card I had graded in April 2021 was valued at 8K and now Its only 3 to 4K. What do you suggest --- get rid of them while we can get SOMETHING or hold? What are you doing?

I'm not saying it out of negativity, I just worry since the price of all of the other cards in the set aside from the HUGE hits isn't very high, I worry it'll be hard to hit like 30-40% of cost. On a side note, I LOOOOVE Cosmic Eclipse regardless.

My husband and I always enjoyed opening up Cosmic Eclipse. So sad you can’t really find it in stores and prices for it have gone up. Some amazing cards in this set.

Going with five big hits and some smaller ones in this box, so probably around $250 as my guess. :-) (EDIT: I was hoping for a slightly less loss, but reality says otherwise. Lesson learned is to keep sealed things sealed...)
I think if you did this series about a year an a half ago you may be in alot better standings with the graded stuff but the graded card market has shifted alot even in the last 6 months. It's very unfortunate. I personally loved the booming market we had just a short time back. Now days the way to go is to keep everything sealed and honestly I think long term even that will alot less profitable because of the huge dips with the graded cards ( atleast with more average graded cards).
Example: shiny charizard gx was like $1500 a year to a year an a half ago..now it's like $800 Maybe.
I think you'll get around 200$ value. But if you get any vileplume card it's all worth it! Vileplume is my favorite pokemon.
