Sam, back in 2015 or 2016 there used to be a great VC discussion group called "The Hour Lounge" sponsored by VC and it had a great article on the development of the 5100 ... plus a lot of other great stuff. The best part was the discussions about VC and the level of knowledge people had. They still have the Hour Lounge, but they cut out the discussion. Hi, Bill. You are talking about some of my favorite watches here. The Mad Swiss Red Fumé dial is, I think, one of the very best red dial watches you can get. Red is a strong colour and I think is difficult to get right. Moser nailed it on the _Pioneer Centre Seconds_ and it is in my future to buy. I actually have a _Heritage Centre Seconds Funky Blue Fumé_ on order and should be coming at the end of January. I would love a _Streamliner Centre Seconds Matrix Green Fumé,_ but the prices are prohibative. All _HMC 200_ movements, but they'd make a great set with the different dial colours. As for the VC's that 56 is a good looking sector dial watch, and is awfully tempting. I also like the _Historiques Triple Calendarier 1942_ in red. But there's also a _Historiques Triple Calendrier 1948_ which gives up the Cornes de Vache lugs in favour of an attractive moonphase. The 1948 came in Pink Gold and Red as a limited edition, but is quite pricey. But I'd still love to find one if I could scrape enough pennies together.
Wonderful comparisons. I get the feeling Moser is finally getting the attention they deserve from a wider net of enthusiasts. Good for Moser, but it also means prices are going up.
Hi Bill, we’re you thinking of the Mayu? I went for an Endeavour small seconds, white dial in white gold. Love the Moser movement but there is something about that VC 4400 movement that is special.
Hi Jim, I think it is the 'Monard.' The Mayu is the one with the small seconds. Mine is center seconds and 7-day reserve. The VC 4400 lets you hold your watch for quite a while as you lovingly wind it... Take care, Bill
Hi Bill great video, thank you. Two amazing brands. Am eyeing a Moser for a while. I do have the 56 Selfwinding with the silver dial and bought in addition the metal bracelet. The bracelet is amazing, butterfly clasp but on the fly micro adjustments like the overseas, oh and by the way, the 56 (all models) have also the solid 22k gold rotor.
Hi Keelpep! Thanks for that owner-evaluation. I did not know they all had the 22k gold rotor-even better. My old VC Overseas had a Girard-Perregaux movement fixed up by VC, and the 1326 caliber with its roots in the Cartier 1904 can no doubt be bend to the VC will and style. Dear Bill, you're the one to blame for opening my eyes to the hidden gem triple calendrier 1942 even if I'm a sports watch kind of guy, thanks! Moser Pioneer Centre Seconds and Heritage Centre Seconds are also appealing with HMC 200 with the brilliant Straumann hairspring. VC FiftySix three hander is a Cartier MC1904 so I'll rather have the original Cartier Pasha with the same movement for a fraction of the price. Besides, the Pasha was designed by Gerald Genta back in the day.
Hey Truman, now that's one way to get the 1904, but VC promises that they did some special work on it to make uniquely VC... a 22k rotter is one thing... but the Cartier Pasha is nice in and of itself. There's also the Piaget Polo S... Take Care, Bill.
