At the time of this video, I’m a month away from meeting Ernesto Carrillo, and buying my first box of cigars ever. Hoping he’ll sign the box. Love his cigars, and his life story.
@ Yep! Great conversation as well. If anything I felt bad after because I barely let him talk. Just wanted to ensure he knew how much I appreciated his work and approach to all he’s done. On top of it all, I realized a week prior that my cigar-box guitar at home…was made from the box of a La Historia! Ain’t that nuts? Had that thing for the longest and never once noticed. So, I brought it, and he signed it as well with a gold permanent marker to match the box design. All in all, a bucket-list day.
Yeah, I guess I can agree with that assessment and definition of boutique. The one thing is that you have family's that have been around 3 or 4 generations, but they haven't grown beyond a small, boutique business. Nestor plascencia has had that tobacco business for I think three or 4 generations. Sometimes, you have family's that were either irrelevant for a couple decade's or the heir's didn't want to continue the tradition. Luckily, alot of these companies come back through being bought by a larger companies, or some descendant decides to take a company on the brink or old capital and resources to bring it back to relevance! Thus, continuing the tradition we all enjoy!!! Cheer's Mazz!!! Smoking a la aroma de Cuba now! One of my favorites!!!
I just had my first E.P. Carrillo Allegiance sidekick the other day and was blown away! I’m trying to get away from infused smokes and this has opened my eyes. Thanks Anthony

Hello Anthony, just joined the cigar of the month. I am new to cigars, but I tried the punch, strong but a good smoke. Keep on making the videos, Great! Keith.
Welcome aboard, thank you for the support, Keith 🙏 As a newer smoker you can never go wrong with making sure you eat something beforehand, and have something with sugar to ingest if a cigar starts to strong arm you. A soda to sip on or some hard candy can do wonders to turn you around. Hope this helps, cheers!
I’m glad you explained what a boutique cigar is to you, because based on the thumbnail I was very confused haha. From these, the Alma Fuerte and tabernacle are my favorites. The pledge didn’t really do it for me.
At the end of the day everyone can have their own criteria and perception of what a boutique cigar is and that's perfectly fine. We're glad you heard us out before commenting 😂 Cheers!
I don’t disagree with any of the aforementioned cigars being great, but I’m always surprised how little love Nelson Alfonso gets on lists like this. The Byron 1850 Grand Bouquet is the best cigar I’ve ever smoked, and the Bandolero Audaces is one of my favorite daily smokes.
Excellent video discussion of cigars I’ve tried, cigars resting in storage that I can’t wait to try, and cigars (Tabernacle) that I’m definitely going to purchase and after a nice long rest…I will try. These videos are adding to my enjoyment of cigars because I’m learning more. I can really appreciate a mild cigar now if it has body and character. I don’t need to seek out the strongest cigar to think it will give me a “fuller” experience. Think about the tobacco, taste the smoke, notice the room note, sit still and ponder that specific moment of reality…that’s what it’s about for me.
Watching your videos has showed me so much on cigars I enjoy the learning experience since I’ve be subscribed to your channel I’ve been trying so many different brands across the board thanks

He hasnt lead me to a bad stick yet, i tip him everytime i go. He helped me out alot with finding new cigars and what to stay away from, he knows i like quality but at a good price
You should try "war machine " by Platoon Cigars. A great marine i served with and a dear friend of mine owns the company. San Andreas wrapper, Ecuadorian Sumatra binder, Nicaraguan filler. Definitely full body but well rounded. Highly recommend.
First time I have disagreed with mazz. IMO these brands and cigars aren't boutique. Brands like DBL and smaller factories are boutique for me. Awesome video though, and I've learned the difference in the "Boutique" realm. Cheers!
Question, my humidor always held at 70-72° and 65-67%. Recently the temp has dipped as low as 59° and doesn't get ant higher than 62. Any suggestions on how to get the temp back up??
Ive had terrible luck with foundation cigars. I hear a lot of positive things about them but ive had 4 or 5 of them and every one was rolled so tight i couldnt smoke it. The last couple i even tried using a perfect draw on them and still couldnt get them opened up. I know it can happen with any cigar but its been too consistent of a problem for me to spend any more money on them.
The definition of boutique differs depending on who you ask. We explain our perspective in the first section of the video. You can age any cigar but generally speaking, fuller bodied blends stand up to age better.
They do that to check how the cigar is burning. Blowing on the foot of the cigar lets you see the ember get red and if it's uneven then you know to correct it!
The LFD Double Ligero is a great cigar. But I would say that the LFD Factory Press is more of a boutique cigar than the DL's. From what I have heard that only three people in the world roll the LFD Andalusian bulls.
LFD as a factory is way smaller than it’s perceived. Considering how many cigars they produce it fits our criteria. Just because it’s been around for a while & it’s well know doesn’t change our opinion.
The cigars on this list aren't necessarily rare, although they might be limited production which, for us, fits one of the criteria for being qualified as boutique.
I normally love your content but that episode was crap! Not once did you list any actual boutique cigars. Every one of those cigars is available in every single cigar shop across the country. Everyone I've ever been in contains those cigars as a staple. Yes they are nice cigars, ones that everyone enjoys having but they're not a boutique cigar. If you were creating a list of boutique wines, they wouldn't be a wine that is available at every liquor store you go to.
I agree no true boutiques in this video. I've been really into boutique cigars lately. Just ordered some last night and they only made 285 of them. Extremely limited.
@@cyledavis4982 ask yourself how is that a business model? Who grew the tobacco? Who rolled the tobacco? Not all, but many ultra limited production from unknown factories are a marketing campaign.
