I changed D750 to Z6 .... now I don't have a headache with alignment, all mirror optics now work even better on a mirrorless camera .... one delight .... Great video !!
This is the best video to showcase the photos that this lens can produce. I have to admit, I was influenced so much by your video that I bought this lens. Unfortunately, the one I got have some fungus so need to wait for some time for the seller to have it cleaned. Anyway, I hope to see more video of you using this lens.

Great summery of the 105, that will likely to be my next lens if I can justify it. I am using the 58 1.4 and it is absolutely an amazing lens with lots of desirable characters. It's not sharp when close shooting wide open. But the rendering are very smooth and dreamy. Would be great if you can do a review on that too.
JEP great channel. Bought my z6 and i am totally in love with it. I travel a lot and bought the S 24-70 F4 which is AMAZING allround. I got the 70-200 f4 from my old F mount kit. I rent specials per shoot like 2.8 zooms ans fast primes. I will be buying the new 85mm 1.8 S when it gets released and its as sharp/sharper than the 35 & 50mm S.
For macro photography its ok!? I have a nikon z7ii and i make ophtalmology, every day i takes pictures of the eyes and the pathology of the eyes. Now i use Sigma 2.8 105mm. Thanks!
Hey!! Well it does focus close ( chin to forehead) but it definitely wouldn’t focus as close as a dedicated macro lens. You would have to crop a decent amount
I shoot with my old Nikon D600. I had the choice of either upgrading my camera to a Z6 or buying the Nikon 105 1.4e lens. After renting the lens I decided to buy the lens and keep the camera. The lens created magic with the right light and distance at f 1.4. I shoot landscape, macro, portraits, food, animals practically everything with the lens. My next lens would be the Nikon 58mm 1.4. Today, most digital full frame cameras produce similar results. This is not the case with lenses. I rest my case.

I own this lens and love it for wedding portraits - I use it on a commlite adapter on my Sony A9 but the adapter sucks. Am I crazy to consider buying a Z6ii or Z7ii just to use this lens?
I don’t think you are crazy at all! The z7 sensor is incredible! Z6 sensor is really good too, I prefer it to the a9 sensor. But as you know the af isn’t going to touch the a9. I’ve tried that adapter too, it’s not very good. The canon to Sony adapter is way better

Thinking of a Canon R6 with 28-70 F2 and a Z7 ii with 105mm f1.4 as my main wedding kit. And selling all the Sony gear - editing Sony files just takes too long for wedding shoots. Only planning to use the 105mm for slow moving stuff on the wedding day so I don't get mixed up switching between Canon and Nikon cameras.
I updated the firmware from v06 to v08 on my commlite adapter this week and the Nikon 105mm seems to be performing well on my A7r3 so I'll hold off adding a Nikon camera for now. The 105 now works fine when I turn the camera on and off, focuses quick and accurately, no weird stuff happening. Also my new Canon 28-70 f2 arrived this week. Two weddings next week so I'll be shooting a Canon 28-70f2 on my R6, Nikon 105 f1.4 on my A7r3. With crop mode the 105 becomes an 18mp 157mm f2.1 lens. So I basically have 28mm f2, 35mm f2, 50mm f2, 70mm f2, 105mm f1.4, 157mm f2,1 with two cameras and two lenses. Will be a nice change from a big bunch of prime lenses on 3 cameras that I usually do. The RF50mm f1.2 will be in the bag and maybe come out for a few shots.
I've been debating on whether to buy this lens for a while now. I have the z6 and I'm not too happy with how the focusing works on my Sigma lens and so I was thinking of getting this lens and looking at your review.. I think it's a winner for sure
@@SNAPAVELI I sure have.. My old Nikon G lenses work fine but my Sigma 35mm art lens struggles with the facial recognition. I often have to convert to single point focus.. Not impossible but I clearly notice a difference using actual Nikon Lenses in terms of focusing

Well yes I’ve shot the sigma art 135 1.8 , it’s really the only option for Nikon. The old 135 dc is really soft. I’m generally not a fan on the 135 distance but it’s a pretty amazing lens though
Well I would rent it if I were you! It’s not very sharp. But great images are made on less sharp lenses all the time. I’m a big believer in art of photography over gear. I’ve owned a ton of stuff, nothing helped me more than learning more about photography and what made images great. You do want to make sure it’s a focal length you enjoy though
David Lang No I don’t! That was one of the main reasons I love mirrorless , no more fine tuning since there is no mirror. It’s really accurate, with eye af coming will he even better

Mr K-verity I don’t but off the top of my head you just go into the sync speed tab in the menu and set it to the top one I believe it’s 1/250* or something like that. It should send the signal to your trigger all the way to 1/8000th of a second then

How do you compare 85mm vs 105mm? If I had to chose one of them..
That’s tough!! I think if you only shoot outdoor and studio is roomy, I’d say 105. If you shoot indoor a lot it’s just a little too long.

I find 105 mm too long, taking more casual portraits. Want to get closer and have more environemnt in it.
