Superlek Accidental Flying Knee to the Head during sparring | YOKKAO Muay Thai Seminar USA Tour 2022

  • Anything can happen in Muay Thai! Even with good intentions unfortunate events can arise. Superlek’s joking attempt to throw a flying knee slipped through his sparring partners guard and glanced him on the brow, resulting in an injury. Both displayed nothing but respect before, during and after the session. We do not advertise this to promote hard sparring but only to display how accidents can happen without malleus intent!

    I’m the guy in the video, this was controlled sparring, this was not hard sparring and there was no ego involved. Superlek threw an advanced move, with no power and the distance was off. I have been doing this for awhile and sometimes accidents happen even in sparring. He never exceeded a pace or power level that made me feel uncomfortable. I signed the waiver to do this. I would get back in the ring any day and spar him again. Nothing but respect for Superlek and all the Yokkao guys, he was very sorry and they bandaged me up very quickly. 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽

    Let’s be honest why throw a knee to the head with no knee pads?
    If a student had done this to him nobody would be defending it. I know it was controlled and I know there was no power but still look what can happen, it’s like elbows. Just my opinion, I throw jump knees to the head often in sparring with good knee pads on and also stopping it at the end, nobody gets cut or hurt and we know it landed flush. On the other hand it’s not that big of a deal in this case.

    This is an unfortunate accident that’s inevitable, although superlek definitely broke a cardinal rule by throwing knees to the head. But, you can’t expect a pro, or any man for that matter, to sit back against another fighter that raises the intensity. Once pride gets triggered and you go into the zone it’s on and popping.

    • @mvo9975
      @mvo9975 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That's not inevitable lmao, the rule is simple, you can throw flying knees in sparring as long as you don't raise the knee at the end of the movement, that's why I have no idea why people are so lenient with him in the comment section. If superlek had thrown a gutted flying knee and the guy had ducked into it, why not. But that was a full amplitude movement, of course that kind of shit will connect

    Is everyone here, just a bunch of cheerleaders? How are people cool with what superlek did? you don't freaking throw knees to the head while sparing your partner unless your very comfortable with each other and agree to this. How do you go to another country with people you don't normally spar with and just throw flying knee, for fun? This is the s hit that can happen, he will most likely need a butterfly stitch bare minimum. And people thinking is cool to say I got this scar by superlek, then when people ask when did you fight him and you respond with sparing I will most likely laugh in your face. Getting injured while sparing doesn't get any form of respect just stupidity. Look how sorry he was after? Ok, being sorry doesn't excuse the clear stupidity of what he did. S hit like that would be an issue in Thailand but people here are acting like it's cool.

    • @SimplyThatGuy12
      @SimplyThatGuy12 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I agree with you 100%. I respect Muay Thai fighters but come on you are an experienced fighter with many fights. Superlek should've known better than to just joke around and throwing a flying knee. A flying knee is very deadly. I also think they should've wore headgear to prevent cuts like this from happening. Ik Superlek was sorry to the guy but this "accident" could've been avoided. I hate how the comments saying I would be jealous if he had a scar like that. It annoys me. Thank you for pointing this out and not be those people who said that. Saenchai in my opinion is the only one that jokes around but is very careful. He spars light until people try to go all out. Much love to you bro. God bless you and your family.

    In fact, it is evidence that controlling own emotions and intention was not easy. Why he must make a flying knee ? lose control, or ego to show off? never imitate Saenchai fighting or movement skills Saenchai he has a good control. Moving by stepping forward utilize own hands, tips kick, or middle kick is more that appropriate and safe during sparring time, to demonstrate good technique rather than jumping movement a bit hard to control and it is unacceptable during the seminar or sparring time. It was unfortunate for Saenchai to immediately break the sparring for the sake of safety when the tempo and emotion was increasing. You do not have to sacrifice your forehead provided unexpected situation on the real sport fighting on the ring no one knows. Sawadikarp 🙏🙏🙏🙏
