First I gotta say thank you for the innovative inspiration. I just picked up a similar project. All 8 vids of your build, showed new ways for me to think about my (planned) build. I've never been around much water until a couple years ago when I moved to where water was. Being a desert rat on a budget, I started small with a kayak. After the first year, I tricked it out beyond the want or need of most. This year I am ready to take on a boat. I know this vid is 2 years old so I'm looking forward to watching what's happened since. Oh, and holy crappie, you make lures too. Something I am also trying to teach myself. Thanks again.
I think it's a brilliant job I'm trying to figure out what to do with my sundofin 12 Jon boat as I put things together and there hard got here in Ireland but a great boat I love it it's for pike fishing ,thanks for the vids
Franco. Its now 2022 january 1 @ 0025 hours i jusy watched the whole series of this build ,YOU DID A OUTSTANDING JOB !! Only thing i might have done different was replace the entire transom & maybe use a bit heavier aluminum angle. CONGRADULATIONS ON THIS BUILD !!
Congratulations! I've enjoyed the series, learned a lot and you did it right, no corners cut. The editing is a drag to do but you did a really good job on that as well and I wish there were more!
Hi, congrats for this nice work on the boat!!! After all this time and lots of hard work we can see the Alumina back on track. Hope you have lots of good moments with your family and cacthing lots of nice fishes.....Take care.
I followed the whole job in awe. . Great great job. Respect! Hands down a winner, and a very very nice and rare and unigue boat! Greetings from the Netherlands
I just bought a 1963 Marine Aluminum row boat.. it is 8ft long by 40in wide and 16in tall.. it is completely squared with a tapered front end.. it will be a fun project! It was custom made specifically to fit in a 1963 Chrysler wagon..
Congratulations on finally finishing Alumina. Forgetting about the Labour costs it wasn't that expensive to convert. I say forgetting the Labour as it was a very special project for yourself and I always think that when we do something for ourselves Labour costs don't come in to it. You say you wished you had now used carpet, but that would have become wet and moldie over time! Your build journey has been enjoyable to watch although there were times I got impatient. I look forward to seeing some videos on fishing from the little boat.
Watched the entire conversion and I am doing the same things to my 12' v-hull. I think you made the comment that you were going to install carpeting. I never really considered the EV but then got to thinking about carpet over PVC. If you did install carpeting, did you glue the carpet and if so what glue did you use? I'm concerned about glue bleed-thru. Do you recall the name and grade of carpet? Where did you buy it? Finally, did you staple the carpet to the underside of the PVC? Great job! Thanks
Enjoyed seeing the finished project. Your range of knowledge and ability is admired. Due to the significant increase in mid-roll advertisements (which are just plain irritating), I have unsubscribed to several channels but I will keep yours and a couple of others.
I totally get the frustration over ads in the middle of the videos. But it's difficult to continue to produce videos without some source of revenue. Thank you so much for your input and your consideration I hope you keep watching. Cheers.
Thanks for showing your conversion. I have an old Montgomery Wards boat that size and often wonder what I could do to bump it up a little. As much as anything, I enjoy your lure projects. 🍺 Cheers!
Man, I just watched the whole series this morning... excellent job. I did a build also, took me about 8-10 months and roughly 1200 bucks not including my trolling motor, batteries, fish finder, and engine...1200 in material alone, but I'm super happy with it ... currently replacing the transom because the old one was warped and starting to get soft.... again, awesome job man, I really enjoyed the series.
Cool, thanks! Yea man if you're a working stiff, its hard to dedicate a lot of hours to a project like this. 8 to 10 months is about right. I was lucky that I had a lot of raw materials around the shop that I could repurpose for the boat, that kept my costs down a bit.
@@EngineeredAngler definitely. Between work, my kids sports, and covid, I really got slowed down, there was many nights in the garage til 2am plugging away at it ..just kept telling myself any progress no matter how small is still progress...the framing was pretty fast, it was all the epoxy resin on my decking, and electrical that took forever...again great build. Enjoy it!
Very nice job...great idea for the pole anchor !!! I see you have some Bitter's soft plastic...maybe I'll catch you at Bitter's Bait & Tackle sometime. Good luck with ALUMINA and hope you catch a bunch more bigguns !!!
I really enjoyed this build and it turned out great. That will be a fun little bass boat. I look forward to maybe a few videos with Alumina in use. I think the floor covering turned out good and although it was harder to work with, it will last longer than carpet. Great channel!
Great Build and looks good. Look at your Battery terminals, you may want to put some grease or terminal lube on the posts and a rubber boot to guard against corrosion and shorts due to water or gear coming across the terminals.
WOW the boat really came out great... Just a word of warning (my boat is has a similar setup) if you're ever standing while fishing on the bow and activate the motor while its pointed sideways it will try to throw you in the water if the power is to high. :)
You said a 4hp gas motor...just a thought, back in the 80s Evenruide made a 15 hp that had a flat top and was very lite. Easy to carry and easy to run and I bet you could get one for cheap these days if you could find one...the way you built your transom I don't think you would have a bit of trouble with power and I know you would not with weight. Of course, it was a 2 stroke but that should not be a problem.
Fred, I am 6'3" & 220 lbs. I set up a 14' almost the same as he did this one. A 15hp Mercury overpowered it an I didn't feel stable in the seat on the bow. I traded mine for a larger boat more size appropriate for me.

You won’t regret the EVA when you drop lures on it. Hooks get stuck in carpet all the time. I’m very glad I used it in my boat.
Repurposing that bracket for the shallow anchor pole was awesome!
