    Very cool. Seen the Write-on effect many times, but never considered how to use it. Thank you.

    *I suggest you make another video called: combining degrees and time to animate complex curves*
    This is a much more meaningful way to explain the BEAUTIFUL math you are integrating into After Effects.
    Let me explain exactly why this is a better approach, and a better topic to focus on in these tutorials.
    For the piece of code "angle = i ÷ 360 × time × 360" it is not clear what you are trying to achieve.
    In order to understand your code I had to dissect this statement.
    According to the order of operations the code would execute like this:
    angle = ((i ÷ 360) × time) x 360 since priority of multiplication and division is determined from left to right.
    Step 1: i ÷ 360
    this operation basically converts degrees to rotations.
    we now pass a number of the unit "rotation" to step 2.
    Step 2: rotations x time
    this gives us the number of rotations multiplied by time.
    Step 3: (time × rotations) × 360
    we multiply by 360 again to return to degrees. *We now have degrees x time*
    This final operation step 3 undoes what we did in step 1.
    *This confirms that we are in fact starting with a base 360 unit (degrees) converting to a base 10 unit (rotations) for the purpose of being able to multiply it by time,* which in After Effects is in base 10. So we actually end up with:
    currentAngle = ((baseAngle ÷ 360) × time) × 360
    currentAngle = time × degrees
    the variable name currentAngle accounts for the fact that this variable is in the units degrees*time. Meaning it changes linearly as time changes in the animation.
    You can think of it like this: this equation is adding one baseAngle per unit of time. At time 1, we are at one baseAngle. At time 5, we reach five baseAngle's.
    In order for this video to make any sense, that equation is ESSENTIAL, but you just glossed over it.
    It is the fundamental variable which makes parametric and polar equations work.
    I would like to hear your valuable insight on the more fundamental nature of this After Effects concept, not just how to type it in to the expression section.

      you are right but it wasn't about simplifying that line of code to currentAngle = time × degrees . which i think it is obvious to anyone.
      the reason why i set it like this angle = ((i ÷ n) × time) x p is that you can control n and p which i set it by default to 360 ( just a value ) but actually can be any values ≠ 0 that you can input or link to sliders controls to animate the 3 variables (i,n,p) at same time instead of just one value, to get sort of abstract animations it may be useful in some situations . converting to radians was made in another line. if you watched the whole tutorial you would notice that in the second method using shape layer the angle Theta was simplified . and in the tutorial is exactly what's been called.
      Welcome to the Community Jacob Hunwick and Thank you for you feedback i appreciate it .
