Her talent was there since the beginning but philippine media will favor light skin, big eyes, and "pretty" over talent even up to today. She even admitted she used to use skin lightening back then up until she realized it's not her that's the problem. I will always put all my eggs in Katrina's basket because she's beautiful regardless of what standards have been put in place. She's personable, humble, and undoubtedly beyond vocally talented - range from controlled beautiful low notes, to belts and head/whistle register. Riffs and runs, breath control and lung power. Her musicality - producing and mixing behing the scenes, doing her own back up vocals. Name a Filipino diva she couldn't keep up with, its hard ti think of one. But name a filipino diva that can keep up with Katrina, now that is a harder question to answer. If you're not a hater or a basher of Katrina, you know 💯 what I've said is not untrue. Thankful international reactors are not as shallow and superficial as the Philippine media that influences Filipino mentality to a large extent, and just appreciates the talent that is there.

I am not sure if she's the same batch as Sam Conception and Charice Pempengco (Jake Zyrus). Singing competition is also one of the reasons why we have power belters and well grounded singers. So aside from Karaoke, Singing contest is also the reason.

This is the show being hosted by Sarah Geronimo in ABSCBN. This show produced a lot of great singers now. Sam Concepcion defeated Charice. Ralph Salazar was the champion in his category. Morissette was alao part of the Regional version of this show. After the Grand finals of this show that’s when Charice blew up and became famous in South Korea until Ellen Degeneres guested her in her show.The rest is history.

Power belters here in the Philippines start younger than you think because of the amateur singing contest for every barangay (village), then there's every town singing contests, aside from the school and inter school singing contests and the televised ones that caters to nationwide aspiring singers ❤️
Aside from that, poverty also created a big role in those singing contests as it become a source of income for families. You'd definitely have the motivation to sing your best if it means putting food on the table.
Most amateur to pro singers, started off poor. And with the passion and need to survive, they thrived in competing in every singing competition there is in the Philippines.
