The only thing that comes close is an old vinyl LP from back in the 1960’s called ‘Tutti’s Trumpets’. Tutti Camaratta produced the album featuring Conrad Gozzo, Pete and Conti Candoli, and other great horn men of that time. These guys Doc Severinsen got together are sure no slouches. How good of a trombonist do you have to be to get a solo in a single file line filled to the brim with legendary lead trumpeteers.
He could have blown them all off the stage. But he didn't. Not a mean bone in his body.
So true. He lives in my area and showed up to my school to talk to my jazz class. An absolute legend on trombone.
HIW Alex I guess you would have to be as good as Wycliffe Gordon
