    10000s of years have passed since the previous games of every timeline. 10000s of years we know nothing about on every timeline. Just because a flood happened in the adult timeline at a time we know of, it does not mean that a flood did not happen in other timelines at a time we don't know of.

      More than 10000 actually, 10000 years ago is simply the first appearance of the Divine beast and Guardians that helped that version of link and zelda fight Calamity Ganon. But events that lead up to that moment are still unknown. We don't actually know how big the gap in time is between the previous game and the creation of the divine beast.

      exactly, when you think about it, nintendo was actually very smart to put the events of the Great Calamity 10,000 years before the events of the game, because it's not even stated that that was the first appearance of the calamity. by 10,000 years ago, the name ganondorf and the person he is wasn't even acknowledged, instead his influence was perceived as this apocalyptic force of nature, calamity ganon. because of this, we can infer that the closest game chronologically to botw is likely THOUSANDS of years BEFORE that great battle with the calamity, hence why the distinction of the 3 timelines is negligible. so basically this means the flood theory doesn't place the game solidly in the adult timeline. SO MUCH can happen in 10000+++ years. I mean 10000+++ years ago on earth humans were still making the transition from hunting-gathering to farming. a huge flood and subsequent draining in the span of time before calamity 10000 years ago isn't that unlikely.

      No one seems to notice that breath of the wild isn't 10,000 years after the last games-it's actually much further. By the time the events of 10,000 years ago took place, the current castle had replaced the old one on the great plateau, which had been moved up at some point, the sheikah had gone from a tiny group of people to an upper class of scientists, and, if my own theories are correct, the champions replaced the sages over time and evolution of the hylian religion. I'd say that's even more centuries, to the point that it's ridiculous any of the ruins from the older games are anything more than dust.

    If you look at the broken parts of the ruins in the Tabantha reaction, the texture looks a lot like limestone. Limestone is mined near the sea (I'm pretty sure the ancient Greeks used it to build temples on islands). If they had enough limestone to build whatever structures the ruins used to be, then at the very least there used to be a lot more water in or around hyrule than there is now

    MY TIME HAS COME.
    Wall of text warning, you have been warned.
    So, Breath of the Wild exists, from what I hear according to the devs, at the end of the "inevitable" timeline. If anyone here is familiar with Steins Gate, I won't get too deep into it, there is a concept that some events, no matter the events that precede them, are inevitable. Let's put a pin in that.
    We also know that Nintendo has toyed with the idea of time periods converging due to some kind of rift event.
    Way way back in 2012, I had the idea for a Zelda story set in the future, except it existed in a timeline where an entity ripped open space and time to converge with itself and destroy all timelines, but in doing so allowed heroes from multiple timelines to meet the converged entity with even more opposition. Furthermore, the effects of this entity's meddling with time were irreparable, meaning that all of the pasts of the different timelines happened simultaneously and were all factual in this new convergent timeline.
    In 2013/2014, Hyrule Warriors was announced for the Wii U. I saw parallels with my own fan story in its construction, so I went on Miiverse to predict the plot of the game. Come September, it turned out I was *mostly* right.
    So, fast forward to 2017. Breath of the Wild is released. We find rock salt, koroks, lynels, yellow stripes, mentions of Twilight and other events from all across the series and all timelines. Everyone is scrambling, "Where is it placed?" I know the truth. Which timeline is it in? The answer is D: all of the above. Breath of the Wild is the inevitable point for all points in the timelines. As such, certain events must have occurred at points in the other timelines which forced them to come back to the convergent point, meaning that a flood occurred after the adult and fallen timelines, the Sheikah at some point became the most technologically advanced people in the world in all timelines - which we already see evidence of as early as Ocarina of Time with the windmill and many moving contraptions in the Shadow Temple, and the Zora became a civilized people in the Downfall timeline, something we actually see evidence of in A Link Between Worlds.

      I don't think a unified timeline is even possible. It's just too confusing since this unified timeline would have 3 different histories, and 3 Triforces. 3 Triforces would be an overabundance of power that would destroy the world.

    • @braydenleaderofthetirkins1143
      @braydenleaderofthetirkins1143 4 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      @@elitegamer9310 Yeah, I agree. I think it's just the "some events will eventually happen again (or in this case, another timeline)" situation. Somehow, Rito came to be in another timeline, or since the Great Sea might have resided, the goddesses saw no reason to bound the Rito to the air any longer, so split them into the Rito AND Zora. Also, the Temple of Tiem could have been remade, and Lynels are creations of Ganon, like the Bokoblins. You can tell by the eyes and the silver enemies, which are specifically stated to be creations of Ganon.

    • @VexieVex
      @VexieVex 4 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      I agree with this, but it's literally like the only thing I can think about the Timeline. But another timeline also fits in some regards, considering all the Time Traveling in Skyward Sword, you'd think there is another split way earlier in the Timeline. Who knows and I suspect Nintendo isn't going to tell us squat for a long time. Look how long it took to get the 'official' timeline Lol.

    • @avaricsymphori
      @avaricsymphori 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Yeah, I agree the previous commenters; a "unified timeline" is pretty much impossible, on a whole bunch of different levels. I think BotW is essentially a reboot to the Zelda timelines, taking place SOOO far ahead of any existing "Legends of Zelda" that all the stories from those timelines have become just that: stories, legends, myths. It's actually a pretty clever way of nodding back to previous content without being restricted by it (which...they could have avoided by just not publishing "official" timelines in the first place...).

    • @Aewon84
      @Aewon84 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@elitegamer9310 It's perfectly possible. Ever read Worldbinder by David Farland? In it the protagonist is tricked into binding his world with one where humanity is almost extinct because of a race called the Wyrmlings. They are different worlds with different histories, yet it works in that story. Anyone who exist in both worlds are merged with their counterparts, so there wouldn't even have to be three Triforces. That does have some unforeseen consequences, as some of the Wyrmlings start to develop a conscience. As for the different histories, let me ask you a rhetorical question. How many versions of the King Arthur legend exists?

Think of it as a spider web, though it may branch out it still has a strong start(skyward) and a anchor end peice where multiple threads come together(BoTW) .

      Yeah... Just a slight problem with that. Any changes to the moon would cause the SEA to rise not the land. In fact it happens all the time and we call it the tide. Now in theory you could have a situation where the moon becomes 'tidaly locked' and causes permanent high tides on one side of the planet and low tides on the other. The problem is, the side with the low tides would never see the moon. We see the moon all the time in BOTW so that is out.

    • @fnamelname9077
      @fnamelname9077 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@patrickb8134 You've hit exactly on why it IS INDEED possible. For a period of time, there would be monstrous tides. Hyrule would re-surface, only to be repeatedly swallowed by tides. The thing is, the land would not relax afterwards - it's stone, not water. Magma solidifies, but the seas do not. If the moon's orbit changed again afterwards, the land would remain raised. The tides, however, would go back to normal.
      In fact, this could possibly be accomplished by making the moon's orbit much more eccentric. Each pass could raise the land significantly, but the tides would go back to small and stay that way for a while. After that, a circularization of its orbit would put things back to normal - but the land would remain.

The evidence for any of the three is going to be there because of this fact. Also, with a giant flood and 10,000+ years in the way, it's pretty likely that the old structures in the game were newer versions of the castle, ranch and such. It's only "old" to us because of, well, 10,000 years.

    My personal head canon for the breath of the wild timeline placement is that the timelines merged sometime before the beginning of the series
    There’s enough evidence to support this as items and creatures from all three timelines show up in breath of the wild

  • @5h0ckblock
    @5h0ckblock 4 ปีที่แล้ว +15

    I believe breath of the wild takes place in a new timeline that I'm going to call the "Inevitable Timeline". In other words, no matter which timeline you follow, after sooooo many years have passed inevitable events transpire that not only eventually lead up to BOTW, but other games as well. For example...say your following the windwaker timeline, and a few thousand years after spirit tracks the water levels of hyrule is for whatever reason lowered. Maybe it was wished back to normal, maybe Ganondorf woke up and used magic, or maybe even a water dragon controlled the flow who know. Or hell maybe hyrule itself was moved somewhere else. The people who are descendants of the people from spirit tracks are still exploring new lands and eventually find their way back to og hyrule. After settling in events transpire to create a scenario SIMILAR to twilight princess. Its different from how we the player knows these events but there's enough similarities to this alternate story that the main key elements still happen such as the mirror breaking and Ganondorfs defeat. This begins a chain of events that continues to recreate alternative versions of each legend until eventually the time reaches BOTW as we know it.
    On the flip side if you follow Twilight Princess timeline, perhaps Ganondorf didn't actually die there either and everyone just assumed he died. Eventually he wakes up and either Link and Zelda are too old and frail to stop him or they haven't been born yet etc. This leads to there being no one left to stop him and this leads to events that are either similar to downfall or similar to adult. and once again creates an inevitability where the time eventually becomes what we know to be BOTW.
    This theory is further supported by the fact that Ganon in BOTW is meant to be seen as a force of nature. As we all know when it comes to actual forces of nature its never a question of IF they will happen....its a question of WHEN. Disasters always happen EVENTUALLY.

    There are still references to people and places from other timelines because these things still exist in the adult timeline. There still is an Arbiters Ground even around the time of OoT. Darmani still was born in every timeline even if he only meets the Hero of Time in the child timeline.

  • @DBArtsCreators

    I hold fast to two major theories:
    * 1: There is no "The Hero Lost" timeline (which would actually be an alternate reality/universe, not a different timeline, as the timelines require Link to have lived). Rather, there are three timelines: the Child Timeline (where Link was sent back to and was able to divert the future path by revealing Ganon's plans); the Adult Timeline (where Ganon took over the world but was then beaten by Link); and the Abandoned Timeline (the intervening period that continued along its own path where Link hadn't awakened and was stuck within the Sacred Realm). The first two timelines are obvious, but the third is more hidden, as it takes place in the intervening years between Link's back-n-forth time travel, which a time which Link never showed up in and thus was never around to affect. It is the timeline between the two others.
    * 2: Hyrule Warriors is cannon and serves as the merging of the three timelines, which is why creatures and events from all the timelines are known in Breath of the Wild (as, by the theory, Breath of the Wild takes place after the Hyrule Warriors game[s]).

      @@Borgdrohne13
      * 1st Theory: The Fallen Timeline is the "The Hero Lost" timeline that Nintendo made up (which can be called such because it can't be a separate timeline if it requires Link's death; that would invalidate the Child & Adult timelines unless the Fallen/Hero Lost timeline is its own separate universe/reality). Ultimately, one could say it's a semantic issue, as the games within the timeline remain unchanged regardless of what you call it - only difference between the "Abandoned Timeline" and "Fallen Timeline" is whether or not it can exist as a separate timeline from the Child & Adult timelines (Abandoned timeline can be a separate timeline from the Child/Adult timelines, the Fallen timeline can't).
      * 2nd Theory: Given my above explanation about the timeline issue Nintendo created, as well as how they also claimed a few years back that the original Legend of Zelda games were non-canon before recanting not long after, I don't give their voice any weight when it comes to which "legends" are canon or not-canon. Especially when something they claim isn't canon fits perfectly into the canon without contradicting anything (as the original Hyrule Warriors does - no contradictions, and the time sorceress that serves as the main bad guy is also the perfect explanation for how & why the timelines seem to have merged at some point).

    From what I understood in WW, the Great Sea was a DEAD sea. It had people that adapted to it, but it was fishless, and almost too calm and serene on a nice day. It was as if the Great Sea's nature of being created by the gods to bury Hyrule left it in a frozen stasis to serve the sold purpose of keeping the people on the islands away from the danger still lurking in the kingdom.
    I can see the full flooding of the kingdom at the end of WW 'freeing' the sea from this very stasis, allowing it to ebb and flow with proper currents, storms, and eventually dry up if it did remain too still and calm. I like to think the 'Dunno' ending choice in Spirit Tracks has Link go on a pilgrimage and eventually rediscover old Hyrule in some fashion and trigger an eventual return to the true kingdom.

    I mean, Nintendo wasn't vague about making it such a far removed entity that it's universe existed so long that it had a flood- but not the wind waker flood- that there was a hero of time, but probably not -that- hero of time, and so on.
    It's a weak answer, but it's not really their fault that they got harassed into trying to cram a bunch of disconnected stories together.

    To me botw can ONLY be placed in the adult timeline. People saying "what about the mention of the twilight" arnt thinking it through, remember the twilight realm exists in ALL timelines, but just the events of zants invasion only happened in the child timeline. Ganondorf was captured before his attack in oot and thrown into the twilight realm, meaning the mirror of twilight existed DURING oot and the royal family almost certainly knew about this. Just cus zelda mentions the twilight realm, doesnt mean it MUST be in the child line, it also exists in the adult line and infact all timelines as it existed during oot
    Similarly i dont buy the whole "these monsters show up which are only from the downfall line" either. Just cus you dont fight a particular monster in another game, doesnt mean that species doesnt exist somewhere, you just dont happen to encounter them. You dont even fight bokoblins or chuchu's in ocarina of time, does that mean they dont exist at all during that time? No ofcourse not. Honestly trying to say lynels and hinox's are proof its the downfall timeline is fairly poor reasoning to me with little foothold to speak of
    Only the adult timeline has solid evidence which puts it into ONLY this timeline. The mention of the ancient sea and the salt it left over is obviously the biggest piece of evidence, the flood and great sea only ever happened in 1 timeline. Further more the existence of the rito and koroks are further evidence which lock it into just the adult line, as these species only came to be after evolving due to life after the great flood
    I really dont get why people keep saying its in all timelines when the evidence is pretty clear. Sure it references things from other games in other timelines, but said things also exist in all timelines. Its only the adult line which shows evidence unique to 1 timeline

  • @trifork0314

    While I understand your line of thought there's one simple thing that makes this just not work. The fact that the ruins of structures from Ocarina of Time still exist (castle town and lon lon ranch). After being under for that long of a period of time they should be gone entirely. You could say that they were rebuilt but how could they be rebuilt in the exact same way without a reference.
    As for the Rito and Koroks. The Great Deku Tree just turned the Kokiri into Koroks in the adult timeline, what says this can't happen in other timelines. The Rito in Breath of the Wild look very different from those in the Wind Waker making me think they may have different origins. But even if they have the same origin of evolving from Zora what says this couldn't happen in another timeline where they end up coexisting. Also, the Gerudo only show up in the child timeline and the Zora do not appear in the adult timeline making this a sort of hypocritical point.
    As for salt idk that ones still a mystery to me.

    The Goddesses flooded Hyrule and a barrier was placed over the top creating a sort of artificial ocean floor. So Hyrule wasn't permanently flooded it was mostly preserved under a magic barrier which the king in Windwaker removed, the ocean water was then basically just dropped onto Hyrule along with all of the salt and various other materials the had gathered on top of the barrier. It probably only would've taken a few centuries for the water covering Hyrule to evaporate, be soaked up by the Gerudo Desert, or fall through under caves and catacombs that would've opened from Earthquakes/sinkholes/the water initially crashing down/creation of the sheikah's underground hero training

I think there will be time travel to the original ancient legend using the Temple of Time/Skyward Sword technology and will have two entire maps like past games. I would rather go to Holodrum but hey. WW Ganondorf was humbled in his defeat and seeing this eternal struggle tried to cast off Ganon, and sealed himself. He actually became a hero to Hyrule, forgotten by time. This version of Ganondorf is a shady ally, but his future self is lost to corruption.

    I came to the same conclusion that BotW is in the Adult Timeline. Mostly because of a few things. 1. Rito. These guys only are found out in one other game, wind Waker. Even though there are both Rito and Zora in BotW, there can be another explanation for that. Remember your old theory of MM just being a different part of the world? Well, Zora from there could have traveled to the old Hyrule. 2. Rock salt. As stated, there is salt EVERYWHERE, so it must have been covered by a lot of saltwater. That can’t just disappear, it needs to evaporate. Perhaps over the course of thousands of years it may have drained, or been restored by the goddesses. The carving of the “moats” is also a feasible option. 3. Lurelin village looks almost exactly like outset island. The difference is practically nonexistent, so there is either a huge Easter egg, or it is canon. 4. New Hyrule. There is a chance that over the years, the hylians may have gone back to the place where new Hyrule was. They could have dived down, grabbed a bunch of artifacts(Including the master sword), and remade old buildings in New Hyrule. Thousands of years pass between games, so this is quite possible. 5. The Zonai. (Last one, I promise) The Zonai are said to have come over the sea thousands of years before the time of BotW. These people could have been New Hyrulians, and could have remade Old Hyrule. Also, if they were working with the sheikah, they could have used teleport technology(see the switch theory) to raise up old Hyrule, or to teleport a new landmass there. Thank you for listening, and have a great day.

    People really underestimate the power of nature and time. 10,000 years is talked about in the game like its only 500. Us humans have only about 5,000 years worth of recorded history and so much in our world changes in the span of only a few years. Just compare the world now from 100 years ago. It's not unlikely that the sea just evaporated, or there was an ice age or something else. Besides its only been 10,000 years since the last Calamity Ganon was sealed, that means all kinds of civilisation was thriving before then anyway and who knows for how long. It could have easily been at least 30,000 years since Hyrule was under the sea.

    I firmly believe that Breath of the Wild is set so far in the future, that none of the events of the different timelines apply anymore. The world has had so many iterations of the cycle that it has experienced all the events in one way or another. That explains why there is so many references to the other timelines.
    Rock Salt shows BoTW Hyrule was all underwater at one point. (Adult Era)
    Spectacle Rock's inclusion (Hero is Defeated)
    Arbiter's Grounds (Child Era)
    It feels like a soft-reboot in a way. When they made the Zelda timeline, it wasn't really concise and felt cobble together, as it was.
    My theory is that all new games going forward will be set after the events of Breath of the Wild, not necessarily in order of when they happen. That way stories can be built off of a previous titles without it feeling unnatural.
