There are videos of them doing this live at various concerts. If you want to check out a small concert ( done in Japan, filmed and hosted by MTV, so audio and video are excellent) then check out PopSpring 2016. It has 4 original songs and it's a great way to see them perform live. OR...you can go find Miles Reuben's channel and get this year's concert at the Hollywood Bowl in November. He has all the songs they did separated into vids of each single song.

The lines in Avi's solo section are composer Leonard Cohen's reference to the biblical story of Samson & Delilah, which is why many people think the song is a religious Christian song and/or a Christmas song. It is neither.

Leonard Cohen never intended this song to be religious when he wrote it. It wasn't until later that he said it could be interpreted as a religious song. BTW this song has like 82 versus but this is the part that people sing to most.

I saw them at the Hollywood Bowl last September (along with my 81 year old landlord who IMMEDIATELY became a Pentaholic as soon as I introduced her to one of their videos; she went right down the rabbit hole with the rest of us lol). It wasn't easy getting from Orange (basically Disneyland) to the Bowl with someone of her age and in her condition, but it was definitely worth the effort. And guess who's going to see them again in Irvine in September? 😁🥰

Shortly before he passed Leonard Cohen the gentleman who wrote the song, heard PTX cover and said it was the best cover of his song he had ever heard. Please react to prayers for the world it's the single of the latest Christmas album holiday Around the world. Also last year's cover of the prayer. Scott released a single title mars that is about his fiance who is also in the video. I saw them live at the Hollywood bowl on September 29. With the 1st notes of the 1st song I started to cry because I could not believe I was there. The last song was hallelujah and I cried with the 1st nose because I couldn't believe that I was there.

A reference to Samson and Delilah.
There are two Bible references one on top of the other. The first one is I saw her bathing on the roof her beauty in the moonlight overcame me. That is about King David and Bathsheba. The reference of cutting his hair was indeed Samson and Delilah. He held all of his power in his hair so when she cut it off she ruined him.
Avi was referring to a passage in the old testament. Book of Kings: the story of Sampson and Delilah. And yes. The live version is better than the official video. How many singers you can say the same thing about a live version.
Well sort of. It was using the imagery of that to talk about a modern relationship and, well, orgasm :D A ton of people seem to think this is a religious song but while it uses religious imagery in the lyrics (cheekily in many cases as Cohen was a Jewish-born atheist), it's about love, loss, and sex.

Was not popular when it first came out and was in the dark for many years. This song have many other verses that due to time did not made it to the final cut. (This song had other writers as well and added other verses to it) The song transcended even after the death of the author (Cohen had Leukemia he died from a fall though at 82). What made this song popular is the current verse selection because of the continuity of message. That's how the song have survived the test of time and we are still singing it today. Hehehe 😂 orgasm... ? I don't think so.
@@Fairplayer43 Uh no. It's documented that Cohen was very very insistent on the presentation of his song, in fact PTX wanted to alter some of the verses to be Christmas-themed and he vetoed it. It was already too late not to include it on the Christmas album though so they abided by his wishes to put it out. (This came out before his death in 2016). Perhaps you should read some of his books, or his biography.
I'm not sure how the others who do reactions get away with showing the video; maybe reversing the picture or shrinking it, I just don't know, but we need to be able to see the visual for that Daft Punk medley that they do. 🤔When you think you're ready for him, I also want to see you react to my boy, Weird Al Yankovic. Most people might say "White and Nerdy", but I think you need to immerse yourself in a long-play of "Trapped in the Drive-Thru" to fully enjoy the plight of the common man just trying to feed himself and his girl. We've ALL been there. We just need the Tube to stop blurring the feed! 🙄
It’s not his fault he has to blur the vid, it’s the record companies that will have the vid taken down if it’s not altered in some way. We Pentaholics are very understanding about what’s necessary to get a PTX video to make it to TH-cam. We’ve seen the videos multiple times, we’re here for your reaction. Thanks for this reaction!
@@LisaD-1969 Don't get me wrong, I'm very understanding of the issue, just unclear as to what he has to do to get the best picture of the vid (clearest shot without blurring half the screen). I know some people reverse the video so that it is a mirror image, which would be fine for PTX's medley of Daft Punk. It is easier to see what's going on, it would just be reversed. It's not a criticism, it's a request so that others who have never seen it get the full effect of the visual. I just don't think the half-screen blur would do it justice. Absolutely loving these reacts! 😄

My interpretation of this song is forced religion. Just my opinion. Pentatonix upgrades everything that they touch.

Me too. I caught a video of Matt singing lead and he was great, but I got into ptx because of Avi and Matt just lacks the depth and tone Avi brought. Don't let anyone tell you how the music should touch you.
@@hartjh14 Well, you know, people with Avi's talent are not exactly a dime a dozen. Matt seems a good fit with the group where it stands today.
@@xbubblehead for sure. He's a special talent as a bass. I don't enjoy his solo work as much as his work in ptx. Doesn't mean I don't appreciate his solo talent or Matt's talent. I just have preferences and there's nothing wrong with that...same as whatever you prefer.
