  • Feeder and float fishing on The River Thames near Godstow for chub and seeing egrets, black headed gulls, an Arctic tern, oyster catchers and rabbits. Ledgering on Seacourt Stream near Wytham for chub and seeing kestrels, reed buntings, reed warblers, mute swans and a heron.

Some lovely fishing spots you've found there and some nice fish caught. I too am on the hunt for my first Barbel. I wish you luck. It seems to be a tricky task to find them, especially in Oxfordshire, but I'm sure it will be worth the wait when it finally happens! Tight lines.

Thank you Matthew. I'm going to put the barbel fishing on hold 'til it warms up a bit. I'm planning a trip to the Wye in the summer but I'd love an Oxfordshire barbel. I've heard the Channel on the Thames has some so I think I'll try there again. Thanks for the comment and all the best with your barbel quest. Please let me know if you get one.

@@wychwoodmcduff7957 yes, my barbel hunt is also on hold, very much targeting the chub at the moment but there is always a chance. They are out there. I tend to fish more towards Abingdon but they are all along the river but in much lower numbers than the Wye. I've been told to focus my attention on faster water within 400m of a weir so that's going to be my plan for next year. Tight lines.
