GRID 2 PC Multiplayer: How I play with my keyboard - Koenigsegg Agera R & Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione

- By request, this video is just a showcase on how I play GRID 2 with my keyboard.
GRID 2 [HD] 720p PC Multiplayer Race gameplay with keyboard using both Upgraded Tier 3 Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione and Fully Upgraded Tier 4 Koenigsegg Agera R. This is an online public playlist event where events, tracks and tiers are randomly generated by the game. The first track is Chicago The Loop, 2nd track is Red Bull Ring GP Circuit and 3rd track is Yas Marina GP Circuit.
First of all, I want to say that I'm really sorry I could not get a good view of my fingers using the keyboard without interfering my gameplay. If you noticed the "A" key is quite blocked by my middle finger. Also I did not expect the video resolution to be smaller than the LCD screen on the camera, this results the spacebar key a bit cut off at the bottom. Also I find that it's hard to tell whether I'm pressing the key or not, especially the spacebar key with the unexpected bottom cut. I also apologies that my keyboard clip for each race is not consistent, because my camera kept reset the zoom after a certain period of time.
It's quite uncomfortable with a tripod standing between me and the screen and a camera right in front of my face, as well as my hand position because the tripod is in the way as well. This also affected my gameplay slightly with a few more mistakes.
As you can see, my keys are the default "W" for the gas "S" for brake and "A" and "D" for left and right steer. My "Q" button is to look behind and the handbrake is the spacebar key which is default. The flashback key is the backspace key which the only task for my right hand.
To be honest, I'm actually quite surprised at the action of my fingers. I honestly thought that I only brake with my middle finger, turns out at certain times I use my index finger! I didn't know that and my fingers must have subconsciously hit the brake button for left turns, at times I used both!
Honestly, I don't really know what advice to give on using keyboard. As you practice, you began to feel how the car will react through your own eyes and your fingers subconsciously react. Best advice is to practice, understand the handling, feel it and react to it!

It's not like it was a simulation dude. Who cares, it's grid, most of people drive like shit in it. Furthermore she's playing with a keyboard, which is not the easiest way. Honestly, who cares... She's good, that's all

You use this setup, its pretty much easy to play with a keyboard
Why are people this suprised that somebody is able to play a raceing game with a keyboard, it's not like 10 Years ago or so, that was the main way on how to play them on the Computer. You train, and you get better, and develop sort of a sense for your car like you do with any other steering input. It's less flexible and you need to figure other ways to be more accurate, but any good game should give you options on giving you a way to customize how the steering reacts to you that it won't be that much of a problem. Trackmania is also a good example where useing a keyboard is done perfectly, and other games feel really snapy with the keyboard where it's really hard to play when you're not used to it. It's possible.
Well said, I use a keyboard for Euro Truck Simulator 2, and when I mention it on Multiplayer everyone is surprised, I choose not to buy a controller because I don't want to mess up my groove.
EDIT: I also play Need For Speed Hot Pursuit 2010 with a keyboard, and when I played for the first time on PC with one of my friends, I dominated him two races in a row before he raged quit, we haven't spoken since.
I used to play euro truck simulator 2 , project cars ,NFS 2012 and f1 2014 without any assists on keyboard and was very good at it I couldn't get a steering wheel set , couldn't afford a good steering wheel set :(
Well, easy to say while watching, riding Zonda Revoluzion in the Hong Kong track with the start line from the city then we talk. It's freaking hard to keep the car stable.

I'm better on keyboard than controller as well in GRID and GRID 2. On the controller I have worse response, car control and reaction. In GRID 2 I defeated the hardest AI using a keyboard while on controller sometimes I can't overtake medium level. Arrows are more comfortable for me than WSAD

Keyboards are just as viable for racing games as controllers, assuming the developers aren't lazy and actually fine tune the inputs correctly, which most of them don't.
so it is possible...i probably just suck at this game...when i try to drift my car does a 360 xD

Don't keep the throttle pressed. Just tap it multiple times when drifting a corner.

I've been playing all my racing games with a keyboard since NFS Underground... Once you get a feel for physics in each game it becomes very easy to play.

I think i can answer. Well, he need 2 basic things, coordination with the fingers, to push the right button at right moment, and understand the performance of the car to make the calculation. Is difficult, but requieres practice, and patience.

if you played previous forza motorsport games since the beginning this should be a walk in the park, i mean it's a simple concept of letting go of the gas once you hit the corner and hit the brakes, to slide in such a manner that you don't go off the track too far, or smash into the nearest wall for too wide of a drift, in fact once you get the speed of the car you can calculate how much the car is going to brake to make the corner

I never played a proper racing game on keyboard till I found grid 2
It sucked at the beginning till I realised I shouldn't fully push keys but rather click them fast

correct me if i am wrong ... If its left turn = left(once)+space(until your car puts drift) ---> right+accelerate
I'm pretty that is right sir.. but you need more than that to drift perfectly like this.. you need to understand the physics of the your using,you also need to press the right key at the right time to hit the apex of the corner like he did in this video... the time your releasing the key is also important. so you pretty much need alot of practice and patience so play as good as this.. its much more difficult than what you think. :)

Is it normal to not use the handbrakes? cuz i get a good drift just by letting go of accelaration, steer r/l, and then accelerate again with r/l to stabilize the momentum of the car

I set the accelerate be the 'A' the decelerate be 'Z" left be '←' right be '→'
i used to play nfs most wanted with the keyboard like that, memories...
Grid 2 with keyboard is the most enjoyable :D

I played every Nfs game with keyboard and mouse on pc from 1 to 2015
When i play with keyboard i become pro. I played NFS hot pursuit 2, most wanted 2005, underground 2,most wanted 2012, nfs payback with keyboard. My controls were W=accelerate, A=left, D= right, SPACE= handbrake, NUM DELETE = brake.
Use the numpad to accelerate and brake and change gears instantly it's way better. Then use left hand to steer left and right. I just got grid.
Grid 2: The game where drifting corners are faster than grip corners.

I use A and Z for acceleration and deceleration and to turn left or right so i find it much easier to control than using just 1 hand

im right handed, and yeah i steer like this guy does..
and an addition of right hand key..which is the key ( ' ) as the gear up and the key ( / ) as gear down.. and if the car/game doesn't have manual transmission, it'll feel too boring to drive and end up with quitting the game or even uninstall it.. xD

Koenigsegg Agera R was the most uncontrollable car in the game and you handled it very well.
It is very fast, but the handling are horrid to control. If you do it well, it can be Very OP next to bugatti.

Nah, she can beat controller players with incredible ease on a keyboard. Her skill far surpasses my own that's for sure
you just need to grow up with racing games on computer and not console. if ISAD started with console he'd probably play this game with a gamepad

I can play Forza 4 without any assists apart from the clutch with the controller, I also played a lot of NFS games with the keyboard, but this one seems impossible.

She does appear to be using AT (automatic gearbox), which makes sense considering just how hard it is being quick on a keyboard. When you combine that with the hardest to control cars such as the Agera R, it starts to make a lot of sense why she uses AT in Grid 2.
He would go manual just fine if the game allowed him. Grid 2 doesnt have keybind to upshift/downshift on keyboard, you should visit his Forza Horizon 5 videos where he wreck controller and wheel players with keyboard with manual clutch
@@Amalia19 Oh, Grid 2 doesn't have keys bound to up/downshift on PC for keyboard players? Huh, weird. And yeah, the fact that she's able to destroy controller/wheel players in FH5 with manual clutch on keyboard is insane. She's one of the best drivers I know in racing game history, and if I ended up in a room with her, my highest hope for myself would be to just finish the race (finish within 30 seconds of her).
@@Amalia19 Grid 2 actually does have an option on where you bind the upshift and downshift keys. Thing is the game doesn't allow you to manually use the clutch for some reason
shouldve used manual transmission, i have gear up on shift and gear down on ctrl, works great

First how are both upshift and downshift mapped to the same key. Secondly, how would she be able to react and be able to shift quick enough with MT when keyboard is already difficult enough (especially with machines like the Agera R)?

there is nothing special about using left hand on keyboard play if u are right handed, we all use it, there are no complex circular angle movements of the hand like brushing teeth for expamle
