Ive watched a lot of French videos on grammar and dialogue, most of them in French. I think your explanation of the subjunctive is the best. It’s a shame you don’t have more views.
its my last year as a french student and I have an exam coming up in a few days and all I can say is YOUR VIDEOS ARE SAVING ME!! wish I found your channel wayyy sooner but I'm glad I at least found it
Dear Sir, I am an English user but I learned French in my school years and still maintain a passion of the French language. I have followed a few French learner sites online, but found your site the most inspiring and easiest to follow to improve my basic French. Merci beaucoup!
Literally binged watch all your videos for my french exam may allah bless you for your explanations they are much better then how my teacher explains them
wait, it's that easy? Damm my teacher spent like 3 lesson going through this yet i still didn't understad anything. Thank you man so much! This channel is so good and i am currently bingde watch all of it :)
Laughs in *first language is Spanish* I thought it was going to be much more difficult but turns out since I speak español I just understood it right away, now I just have to memorize the fricken conjugations
I'm just learning French, so take my explanation with a large "grain of salt..." The subjunctive is a mood of expression, e.g. doubt, necessity, etc. I can't imagine saying your sentence example in any context other than predictive certainty? As in, you're fairly certain that he will not show up. This is similar to being fairly certain the guy is guilty (coupable) in the video when only the indicative is used -- without a questioning tone. I suppose that we English speakers might use the conditional to introduce doubt, as in, I doubt that he WOULD arrive on time. But, in both circumstances the speaker seems fairly certain of his or her opinion. Anyway, great question! Got me thinking. Thanks! 🙂
@dancleary578 Haha that question mark is actually for my own question :) I wanted to ask how to say "I doubt he will arrive on time", as an expression of doubt, not a question or rhetoric question.
I just shared this with my French teacher (it helped a lot)
Without question the best and most accessible explanation of the subjunctive! Thank you!

When should we use the present subjunctif and when the past subjunctif? Thank you.
When you have to use the present you use the present subjunctive.
