Hi Grandad! Saiki the lead singer has had throat surgery in the past so the band are very careful with her voice. They play 2+ hour sets so to give Saiki a break around mid-set they do three things.
1. Play an instrumental,
2. Miku (rhythm guitar) takes lead vocals for a song or two (she usually has one track per album where she is lead vocalist) and
3. Miku will do her legendary and hilarious "Magic Time" MC set.
Then Saiki comes back on to finish the set. Even though Saiki no longer needs a break nowadays, it's become more of a tradition. So yeah, they have a number of really cool instrumental tracks. Check out the live MV of "Onset" for another instrumental banger!

Best rock band on the planet. I'm 72 going on 73 and I found Band Maid about six or so years ago. They dragged me back into rock and I'm glad they did. Watch HATE? live from the Yokahama Arena concert. Wear a seat belt.

@@grandad.reacts HATE preformed at the Yokohama area is much better quality and also has subtitles, which I don't really care about with BNAD-MAID songs but in this this case the subs are hilarious good.
Gosh you're nearly 20yrs older than me but heck age means nothing, it's who you listen to that maketh the man & Topographic you've always been a great part of the Maidiac community. I'm nice like that.🙂

Another song that the instrumental version takes on a life of it's own is "Giovanni"! With vocals you don't realize how much is going on under them!

Band-Maid does excellent instrumental songs, put in to concerts to give Saiki a vocal break after her throat surgery, although not so much needed now. "Without Holding Back", "Onset", and "Don't Be Long" are some more instrumental songs from these amazing ladies!
A masterclass in song writing, that one.

Had to laugh when you said we are going to get some great vocals from Saiki. Well we would have if it hadn't been an instrumental. Nice reaction though. Akane is a beast she is a gorilla who likes bananas
Well done! I promise you that the more you listen to this track, the more you’ll discover. They pack so much in their music that it often takes several spins to really grasp it.

Please note, you pronounce all the vowels in Japanese, just like Spanish. Akane is "Ah kah ne". Saiki is "Sah ii ki". there are NO Akane as in (ah ke in). And Kanami is "Kah nah mi".

Thanks again from Japan 有難う💛。 I witnessed this song performed live four times with this MV quality in Japan and dropped my jaw four times 😲. I believe so did many of American audience in their three US tours in 2022 and 2023. This song has been normally played in the middle of the setlist to give Saiki, lead vocalist, some break. They played this song, however, as opening at festivals and in Guns N' Roses concert in Japan as support to the legendary band. Yeah! they showed off their skills and talents to the audience who knew nothing about the girls in maid outfit on the stage. I felt as if I heard them screaming "Hey guys! Listen to us and open your eyes wide! We are not the persons that you think ! Salute us!" 😄
