The actor that played Sam is deaf in real life. That explains why his facial expressions and body language were so good, because that is how he lives his life every day and is used to showing emotion through his body language and expressions,
Bites from the leg are roughly 12-24 hours.
So the main thing you really only need to remember is the closer the bite is to the brain is the quicker the infection transformation.
Alisha is like one of my old friends, hella quiet but when they do finally say something it's the funniest thing 🤣
As sad as this was, when Ellie tried to rub her blood on Sam's bite, and you said we haven't done the FDA studies yet....I DIED!! LOL

I'm glad the writers aren't shying away or avoiding from the harder themes of human nature. Seeing Henry killing his little bro was devastating and realizing that his purpose for living didn't exist anymore it's understandable he took his own life.
The storytelling in this series is top-tier and looking forward to see where it takes us. Great reaction ladies!
god, i feel like "i'm sorry" was such a powerful thing to write. she obviously feels awful about both sam and henry dying but also must feel horrible that her blood didn't help him after hearing that she could be the key to finding some kind of cure for the infection... this was really so much to handle especially as a 14 year old.
Seeing nongamer’s reaction to the Bloater is priceless 😂 some quick background info: the Bloater is the 4th stage end result of an Infected who’s body survives 10+ years and has somehow been isolated and secluded someplace either underground or inside a building where it can be safe from exposure to the elements. Most Clickers won’t ever make it to this stage since they are usually out in the open but as we learn in Part II of the game, the Cordyceps fungus is learning 😳
Idk I hope they won’t read comments, because I bet the show will explain this.

That aching feeling was exactly how I felt with Episode 1. Seeing Sarah, I was just waiting, the aching feeling felt through my bones, knowing what was gonna happen.
The slight nod to Joel and Ellie’s bond was so great to watch. From the “asshole voice” to Ellie clocking Joel’s pattern of saying no before relenting, to the silent communication between Joel and Ellie during the Infected horde. Also loved the moment where Joel eyed the bridge. It showed that he easily could have ran away, consequence free. But he couldn’t because he was already in too emotionally deep. Joel’s line about how it’s easier for kids because they don’t have people to depend on them only to setup Ellie feeling heartbroken because she couldn’t save Sam who depended on her was so well done. It leads to sort of a role reversal where Ellie comes off more broken with the “Let’s go” line while Joel is the one to take a moment to reflect on what just happened. I really like that nuance in their dynamic and how much they are rubbing off on each other.
And Lamar Johnsonn and Keivonn Woodward deserve an Emmy. They had an instant, magnetic chemistry that got you immediately connected. Just a clear case of efficient and economic storytelling. Not a single minute was wasted to get you to care about the characters and setup future dynamics.
Also the Savage Starlight, Joel working his way through the street to get to the sniper, and the Bloater kill being just like the game was chef’s kiss. The Infected were truly terrifying in this episode. The clicker kid was so creepy.
Brilliant episode.
I like the little detail that when Joel tells Ellie to take the gun out of her pack, where he told her to put it last episode, she takes it out of her pocket. When he notces he gives her a disapproving look and she just responds with a cheeky grin. It's a blink and you miss it moment, but I like how they're peppering these moments in. It shows how much effort the showrunners are putting in to develop their relationship.
The guy that died from the big infected one, he voiced Tommy (Joel's brother) in the video game.
He is also Tommy in the show

OOOh Yeah, I cried. My husband and I were both crying. We knew what to expect but the show has its own story to tell that's different than the games. I want to point out how incredible these actors are. To be able to captivate us in an hour with minimal to no talking. Keivonn Woodard was phenomenal. I can't wait to see this kid in more rolls.
As someone who didn’t play the game for themselves I’m very immersed in the storytelling of the episodes . That clicker outbreak at the end was FIIIRE!!🔥
19:20, all of those people were depending on Kathleen to lead them and she failed.
They should have left KC the moment they saw the Infected pit. But nope she was too blinded by revenge.

The Henry and Sam part was a huge turning point for me in the game. I truly felt the dread of the world and started playing with a level of tension. They did a great job portraying these heavy emotions in the show. 😭💔
Agree, I literally took a week off after that.
I don’t think Henry could live with himself knowing what he had to do with Sam. It broke my heart. I cried like a baby, like they was my kids.
I 100% would have done the same thing as Henry. If my only little brother and family were gone in such a dramatic fashion, in that world, well... that'd be it for me. Peace out.

Sam didn’t survive, so Henry couldn’t endure.
The Cordyceps Romance speculation had me rolling! LOL! Also Kathleen is the poster child of bad priority management.

I've known exactly what group I'd want to join if I lived in this world since episode two, when Ellie mentions the Fireflies get chicken from smugglers. I don't care what I have to do, I'm joining the Chicken Smugglers. That's the post-apocalyptic dream job right there.

I liked the game version better when Henry shot Sam and killed himself. It was very powerful in the game. Not that this was bad, but the game version stuck with me.

The actor who played Henry played a phenomenal role, the “what did I do” made more sense than compared to the game version whereas he instead said “this was all your fault.” Henry acted quickly shooting his little brother, I was shocked and probably many were too. He’s smart enough to know they hardly survived the zombie incident. What he said implies that he failed as a older brother to him, I can’t even imagine what thoughts were running through his mind. All horrific events that sadly resulted in a heartbreaking suicide. Hits deep.
@@jacobwanno3119 sometimes the first viewing sticks the most. But I always felt the game was too theatrical and not authentic feelings. It made me cringe a lot so I was happy a show was made. See this happen to real people. Especially since Sam was such a npc and was easy to feel nothing for since the game quickly brushes it away.
But in the show Ellie reaction was perfect. How would you react to seeing someone kill themselves in front of you? Would you just say "aw man" or scream in fear and cry in shock. I feel so bad now for Ellie that she saw 2 young friends die in front of her.

People are flawed and easily blame other people for there misfortunes or mistakes. So for me Henry in the game wasn’t unbelievable.
@@jacobwanno3119 Henry in the game was good. Smooth relaxing voice. But the game, body language interactions dialog is over the top and it always takes me out of the scene. Now it's not bad and still good in a video game. Could be better but works fine. His line blaming Joel makes sense his brother died after linking up with them. But Henry and Sam would of died quicker without Joel.
But Henry in the show was phenomenal is well. Just 2 different personalities but both great brothers.

Even when you know who's gonna die, it still gets you. Like with the first episode, I was thrown off by how close Sarah's panting after she got shot sounded to the game. It's random but that's the thing that stuck with me. The panicked breathing of her in shock and the fact they killed a kid is such a sad way right off the rip. The show fucks with you just like the game.
I always look forward to your reactions. You did a good job. It’s an emotional rollercoaster. I love that you break the story apart at the end of each episode an give your perspective. Very well done.

Girl I'm with you. I need to put my emotions on the shelf before I even turn on the TV 🤣. I was not ready for ANY of this! I was getting Flashbacks of The Long Night. I was like go Ellie, you trained for this on GoT 😂. Ugh, this show is so damn good.

I like y'all's reaction, it's got a lot of energy. Other folks I've seen doing reactions have played the game or they're trying really hard to play it cool. Don't play it cool, it's supposed to affect you. I watch the reaction to go on that ride with you.
The game affects you, possibly more because you're actually doing all these actions yourself. I'm a pretty die-hard gamer and Even on replays I have to take it and stages. Can't just binge through that game, it's alot.

Yeah what I wanted was more realism and I knew the show would show a real range of emotions. Especially how hard the first episode hit I knew this episode would be heavy. Showing a lil boy die, his older brother shooting him, and then a suicide. Looks so much more graphic with a real people.

This was an amazing episode. Great job to everyone involve in the episode including Lamar Johnson as Henry, Keivonn Montreal Woodard as Sam. Man this episode was mixed with all kinds of emotion. As well very intense episode especially with the Bloater and the Clickers attacking the Ellie, Henry, Sam and the resistance. Man the deaths of Henry and Sam was a sad one. I feel bad for Ellie especially after her talk with Sam. And you can tell Joel is concern that him and Ellie may end up like Henry and Sam. But anyway great reaction you three,

I'm not sure how you ladies missed it last episode, but Kathleen talked about her brother who got beat to death in a cell. That's why she was looking for Henry.
Detached to caring about others was what has happened to Kathleen. She killed everyone including children. Lost of her brother has made her cold. Thats point. To avoid hurt, we don't want to attach. Even us watchers, we don't want to attach to any characters so we won't be so hurt.

Ok, lemme say as a fan of reactions, rewatching the episode is way harder than watching the first time because you see the moments of happiness and heart with Henry and Sam and you don’t take it for granted. Hard episode for US. I be having fun with ya’ll!

-bites on the the neck, face and head: 5 to 15 minutes.
-bites on the shoulder, torso, arms and hands: 2 to 8 hours
-bites on the leg or foot 12 to 24 hours
We saw a pair of amputees at the Boston QZ, so amputation works when done so immediately. Had Ellie and Sam told Joel and Henry about Sam's bite, they could have saved him from turning. But because they lacked medication and treatment, Sam likely would have died in pain and from infection or even blood loss ='(
Henry did everything for his brother to live, and yet he still died. You can't cheat fate, just delay it ='(

The Cordyceps work their way to the brain of the host and wall it off from the rest of the body, keeping its host a prisoner inside his/her own body as they need the body to live--if the host dies so does the body. The brain is kept connected to things life the heart and lungs, but that's about it, as senses, motor skills and coordination are hijacked by Cordyceps--the infected know what's happening, but are helpless do so anything about it, so to answer Sam's question: yes, you are still you (in mind only) ='(

24:18 No, "family." The theme is family. That's why we saw the Millers (Joel, Tommy and Sarah) in the first half of the first story and then Joel and Tess in the last half. Joel's the lost man looking for family in this dark adventure. Tess was "like family." Tommy IS family. The question is: What is Ellie to Joel? Is she really just "cargo" or is she like Tess "like family" or will she be like Tommy, "family?" Joel has gotten lessons from everyone close to him along the way: Tess, Bill and now Kathleen and Henry. Are there more lessons to learn? Probably because we are at the series halfway point. Buckle up ladies the last half is going to be wild!

I really wish I could forget what I know about this story and watch it with fresh eyes. The story is incredible. Sam hit me deep, there were multiple times in this game and Last of Us 2 when I had to stop playing for some time. Know this though, Kathleen was not in the original game story but she really helps move this story along.
